    Thank you for your great tutorial and demonstration on using vinyl when making a zippered pouch. Just the right amount of information and time spent on the sewing of it. Not being yelled at is wonderful. ❤

    Very thorough tutorial, but also would appreciate adding "boxed" bottom instructions please.

    This was very informative! I'm in need of making a pouch to put in a 3 ring binder. How would you recommend doing this if I used this pouch?

    • @hooked-on-sewing
      @hooked-on-sewing  6 месяцев назад +1

      That is a great question. I would add a strip of fabric or two strips (one for the front and one for the back) to the bottom of the pouch. Maybe 2” to 2-1/2” wide. I would also use interfacing on these fabrics to reinforce. Then I think I would topstitch down both long edges. You could then either stitch buttonholes or use grommets for the three holes. Does this make sense?

    When you boxed the corners, did you trim the triangular parts off with just having a quarter inch seam allowance remaining?

    Love the video can you mention which make of vinyl you use, in live in uk. I’ve never tried sewing with vinyl and would like to try.

      I’m not sure if the brand of vinyl. It is 16 gauge vinyl that I purchased at JOANN Fabrics. If you look for 16 gauge vinyl, you should be able to find it. I hope this helps!

      Sometimes I repurpose vinyl. Often times when we buy bedding like comforters, they come in these clear zippered vinyl bags. I cut out portions of that bag that I can use for making zipper pouches. Some people even use clear shower curtains or tablecloths.

    Are seams ok attaching to vinyl, not fraying

    • @hooked-on-sewing
      @hooked-on-sewing  Год назад +1

      Yes. If you'll watch at 4:26, you'll see that I am folding the seam towards the fabric and topstitching. This topstitching helps to not only reinforce the attachment of the fabric to the vinyl, but to help keep the ends from fraying. I'm using quilting cotton, so there's not a lot of fraying anyway. Hope this helps!
