Let me know what project I should tackle in the next tutorial! Who knows I might film it 😃
Have trouble using the "endless" zipper, 5mm - to achieve neat corners. This zipper "slides" perfectly, but it is sturdy and cannot be bent at the ends. There must be another method in this case. Such as not sewing to the edges of the fabric. Methods in videos differ, however...🤔🤔🤔(Also, in the method with not sewing the zipper to the edges of the fabric, when sewing the sides together, the zipper teeth are not oriented to the lining, as in your video above, but they goI towards the top fabric😮. So again a different process to learn...)
With the continuous zipper it's slightly different. I'm sure I've seen and done a technique with a continuous zipper where you don't sew over the zipper teeth, and just skip over it in the construction step. So when you sew around the seam of the pouch you stop just before the zipper, hop over the teeth and continue to sew. I haven't sewn with those for a while, but I'll keep this in mind for a future video.
I would love a tutorial for a similar pouch but with a flat bottom, so it can stand by its own
I’d like a tutorial for a small framed weekend bag please?
Thanks! I'll keep your suggestion in mind for new videos!
I’m one of those sewers you mentioned at the beginning who avoids zips wherever possible because I just can’t seem to get it right. This is the easiest , most detailed explanation of inserting a zip into a bag that I’ve ever seen. It’s the one I’ll be using from now on - thank you! x
So glad to hear it was helpful! Enjoy the zipper sewing 🪡😊
Very clear tutorial. Your close camera views are excellent. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching :)
Just what I needed to see. Thank you so much for a great video.
Great tutorial! I've never seen the 'fold the ends of the zipper' trick at the beginning to reduce the bulk. This was very easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
Thank you so much, I have watched many tutorials on making these little bags, yours is the best, in my opinion! Thorough, pleasant voice, no blaring music, well-organized. A+++. Thank you again! Jonee
I'm so glad you found my tutorial helpful, Jonee! It's great to hear that you enjoyed the organization and style of the video. Happy crafting!
Been sewing for decades, and often "wonky"--wish I had such good tip/explanation as you have for why you stop to move the zip pull! 😂. Well made video & great explanation of what you're doing--and very important --the why! Thank you!
You are so welcome! Thank you for the sweet comment and feedback. I have to admit I don't always take my own advice. So I often have a few wonky stitches or sections myself, but I like to think it adds character to a project 😅
Thank you thank you thank you for showing how to see the ends of the zippers back. And I appreciate you using both cm and inches!!! Wasn't til I started sewing that I began to use metric. It really does make more sense. I have only been sewing for maybe 3 years. Thanks again❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome! Glad you found the inches + cm helpful! I used to be annoyed having to do the conversion from inches to centimers every time when I started using online tutorials so I decided to always include both :)
Your technique is great and your camera work is even better!! Thanks for such a clear tutorial!
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback! 😊
I love how you introduced the folding of the zipper ends to prevent bulking (which I notice when sewing my zippered pouches). And of course, I love IKEA fabrics! Thank you! Chuchie ❤
Thank you! Still sad that Ikea recently stopped with their fabric section 😢 Not sure if it's just here in the Netherlands, but wish I stocked up on their unbleached cotton.
I’ve sewed many different items over the years but I only have basic sewing skills. I’ve never wanted to mess with zippers because they seem so challenging. I’ve watched many videos lately trying to learn before I tackle the task. I came across your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH for one of the BEST videos I’ve seen. You speak when necessary to explain the task. The camera angles and the ability to truly capture the details of the project are PERFECT for me! PLEASE keep up the great content for casual project makers like me.
I seriously feel like I can literally play your video and make the bag as I play and pause through the steps. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that my video was helpful for you. It's always my goal to make sewing projects accessible and enjoyable for people of all skill levels and I'll (slowly) keep adding more videos :). Keep up the great work and happy sewing!
Excellent tutorial! Just for the technique of attaching the zipper alone was worth the time!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Easy to follow tutorial. I have never seen a zipper installation like this. I am definitely trying this. Thank you.
Thank you! Hope you give it a try and let me know how it goes :) happy zipper sewing!🧵
I really enjoyed watching this video. And even though I have been sewing for over 50 years, I learned some new techniques. I have sewed many zipped pouches over the years but will implement what you demonstrated in your video to make more professional looking bags. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to know that even seasoned sewists like you found value in the video. Happy sewing! 🙏😊
Really simple to follow and I love that you don't chat unnecessarily and the music is so relaxing! Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching! So happy you enjoyed the video and the music!
Such wonderful attention to every detail for making a perfect zipper bag. This video makes sewing more enjoyable . Thank you for taking your time and not rushing it through like so many other videos out there. I look forward to making this bag.
Thank you for the kind comment! You’re welcome 😊 and happy sewing
This is a terrific tutorial!! Thanks for all the detail on the zipper, trimming, turning and corners.
Glad you liked it!! Thank you for the sweet comment 😊
Thank you, Charlotte. The idea of folding over the ends of the zipper tape is something for me to try. (I have not seen it anywhere else.) Also, you make it pretty clear that I should be ironing at lot more as I construct the bags I make since yours look much crisper and neater than the ones I've been making.
Oh yes sewing is lots of pressing. It makes it so much easier to get a good end result and I find it easier to work with the project, match up seams etc. Thank you for the lovely comments
@@CharlotteKanStudioThanks for the ironing tip too
Thank you for great tips on the zipper & trimming & the bamboo pointer
Glad to hear you found the tips helpful! That bamboo turner is soo handy 😃
I’ve watched many tutorials on bag making. This one is the best. Thank you.
Wow, thank you for the sweet comment! 😊
Hartelijk bedankt! Great instructions, and thank you for including Imperial/English units for those of us following you from the US! This method is much easier and gets a better result than what I have been doing!
Graag gedaan! Glad to hear you like the method and the included inches :)
Love your close up view of all the steps for inserting zipper with no dents! I’m going to try it with a continuous zipper by the yard and fold back the tape! Can’t do it on the far end though since teeth have to stay closed
Glad it was helpful! If your zipper has a nylon coil, you can also bend the end of the zipper tape including the zipper teeth at a 90 degree angle and sew over the zipper teeth. That way the zipper teeth disappear in the seam. Not sure if you should do it for both at the start and stop though Might be worth looking into! It requires a bit more precision so I haven't used it much.
Sewing the zipper into the seam will give you dented corners. Much better to use a zipper tab that extends one layer from the end of the zipper out to the edge of the fabric and sew through that instead. See the video MYOG: Zipper Pouch on the Adventure Gear Projects channel for an excellent way to make zipper tabs.
Excellent , clear and easy to follow instructions. Love the sound your machine makes 🙂
Thank you 😊 ah yes the sound of a purring sewing machine is lovely. If you have tutorial requests let me know. I’m always looking for new ideas 💡
I'm so happy to have found your page. Love the way you teach. Everything is perfect. Thanks. Hi from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Thank you for the kind words glad to hear you like the videos ❤️
I've watched multiple zipper pouch tutorials and this is by far the best! Your method of folding over the zipper ends blew my mind! I can't wait to try this on my next project. :)
So glad you liked the video and method! Thanks for the lovely comment ☺️
Thank you so much! i wanted to stitch a lining like this for my crochet bag and this was just what I was looking for! I always feel scared when attaching the zipper, this really really helps Thank you!! ❤️❤️
That sounds like a fun project! glad to hear the video was helpful 😊
I'm about to make some zipper pouches as gifts, and although I've done a few before, your tutorial came up just at the moment because I have zippers in different sizes that I want to use and I'm not sure about the measurements of the material -- and you've just helped me out, not to mention the tips on keeping it from being bulky on the sides. And your voice is so pleasant to listen to. So thank you very much. This is my lucky day and I'm going to subscribe right away. ❤️
I'm thrilled to hear that the tutorial was helpful for you! Thank you for your kind words and support. Hope you have fun sewing all the , I'm sure they'll be well-received gifts
@@CharlotteKanStudio Again, thank you. 🥰
Thank you!! Your tutorial was very easy to follow along with. I just had to rewind a couple of times b/c I couldn’t tell where all the pieces were and how they were laying on the last lining sewn. Figured it out and smooth sewing afterwards
Wonderful! So glad to hear you figured it out. The first pouch is always the hardest, after that it just clicks :)
Excellent, thankyou for explaining so very well , your clever hands helped me soooo much
Thank you for your kind comment! Glad to hear it was helpful ☺️!
This was great, thank you. this was my first zipper.
well done for trying a zipper! I hope it went smoothly 🤞🏻 Thanks for stopping by 😊
This was a perfect tutorial!! I wanted to make a pouch and came across your video. It was very easy to follow along while I was making the bag and I love how detailed you are in describing what you do and why!! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I'm delighted to hear that the tutorial was perfect for you and that you found it easy to follow along. Your appreciation means a lot to me as a content creator. Happy pouch-making!
Thankyou. I appreciate your attention to detail as I have had issues with the corners puckering.
Glad to help! 😊
Excellent tutorial I have avoided doing this for a long time but having seen your excellent step by step advice I am going to give it a
a try. Many thanks. MDM N.I
Great to hear you are going to give it a try! When I did a zipper pouch for the first time I immediately did a few :) Thanks for the lovely feedback.

Thank you! ❤️ and what a beautiful place you are from! ☀️
Thanks, for sharing this "easy peasy" pouch video.
Most welcome 😊!
Gracias
Gracias 🙏 Thank you for watching!
You are very good showing and explaining details, thank you
Thank you! So glad it was helpful :-)
Excellent finer details explained and good hints plus great visuals for each step. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the lovely comment.
Hey! I just wanted to let you know, that I have been dreaming about learning to sew, and this week I finally decided to start. Tonight I successfully finished this pouch, and it makes me so so so happy! I used a dark blue fabric with red cherries and the lining is red. It came out SO cute. Thank you very much for the tutorial, it taught me so much. I subscribed to try your other tutorials too.:)
That is awesome! Isn't getting started the hardest part? The red cherries fabric sounds very cute! I hope you have lots of sewing fun ahead and feel free to ask away in the comments I'm happy to help. Also if you have an idea for a video...let me know I'm always looking for new ideas to make tutorials about!
Thank you! Great tutorial! I'm looking forward to watching your other videos.
Thank you! I'm working on new videos again after a little winter break :)
I came across the video by chance. The instructions are so wonderful, your voice is calm and the instructions are very easy to understand. The zip is always difficult to sew in. I am now very happy and thank you for this beautiful and encouraging video. Best regards Sonja ;))
Hey Sonja! So glad you stumbled upon the video and found it helpful! Zippers can be tricky, but you’ve got this! Keep sewing! 😊
Nicely done video, with precision and care for details! Very instructive! Thank you!❤

Clear demo. and very well explained. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the lovely feedback.
Great video. I love the basting of the “opening” - I’ve made lots of bags and this is a new technique for me. I will use this in the future. 😊
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the basting technique helpful. It's always great to learn new techniques and give them a try in our projects.
This was excellent. Thank you.

So glad to hear it was helpful! Thank you for watching :)
Perfect instructions. Thank you!

Which sewing machine u r using or it is also best for sewing the full embroided minihandbag?
I’m using a Pfaff select 1525 it’s a workhorse. Doesn’t have embroidery options, but maybe you mean the quilted minibag? I use the same machine for all the tutorials it’s my main machine and still love it after 13 years
@CharlotteKanStudio and which fabric u use for inner linning of bags?
Could you tell me what zipper foot you are using. I have two, but have trouble making them work. Yours looks better.
I’m using the standard zipper foot that comes with all Pfaff sewing machines so it probably won’t work for you unless you have a Pfaff too. Maybe there are similar ones for other brands too, but I’ve exclusively sewn on Pfaff so I’m not sure. Maybe ask a local sewing machine dealer?
Thanks for a brilliant tutorial. Your detailed explanations as to how and why are so important to the way my brain works 😂
Great to hear that :) That is exactly how my brain works too haha!
I have watched many videos on bag making this is the best
From where the measuring ruler buy please reply
I tried small pouches but not good because cloth cutting not accurately please reply
Thank you! the transparent ruler is from the brand Omnigrid. They have lots of different sizes but this one is 10 x 45 centimeters (about 4 x 17,5 inch )
Thank you for a great video. Why don’t you include the lining when you’re top stitching? I would think it would help keep the lining from getting caught in the zipper during use. Also why don’t you stitch edge to edge when top stitching? I like to see the top stitch all around the pouch.
Thank you! You certainly can top stitch the lining, and sew all the way to the edge so the stitching is all the way around. Not doing it prevents extra bulk which helps prevent a dent at the top corners, but you can always experiment and see what works best for you and your fabric. I'm thinking it would make a great video comparing all the different options when it comes to sewing a zippered pouch.
It causes issues.
Thank you very much
🙏🏼
It doesn't keep the zipper out of the lining. The seam allowance keeps the lining out of zipper's way. I have been sewing bags for a minute, so I have learned a thing or two. If you sew close to the zipper, it'll jam things up. Keep the stitch away from zipper, and only top stitch the outer part, not both. You can do both but it'll cause issues.
Thank you. Great instructions.
Excellent tutorial and tips! Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely feedback ☺️ If you have any tutorial request let me know. Always on the lookout for new ideas to film.
Beautifully done! Very nice professional finish :)
Thank you 🙏🏻
Excellent tutorial, thank you ❤

Fab vid my daughters are both nagging me for pencil cases so this will be handy for that
I'm glad I could help with the pencil case situation! 😅

Vraiment de bonne explication je suis plutôt visuelle Merci 😊
Merci! ❤
I like your tutorial. I am going to definitely try this.
Glad it was helpful. Thank you 😊
Thank you for great tutorial do you have video of A4 documents pouch.❤
Not yet! I'll keep it in mind for future videos. When you say documents, do you mean like a stack of papers or more like a book?
Congratulaions! Excellent close ups with great detail and explanation. Love your scissors. Please share where you bought them and make? Your machine is very quiet too? Which model please. Thanks from Melbourne, Australia
Thank you! The sewing machine is a Pfaff Classic Style 1525 from 2003. It's a lovely machine, and I do love the sound, but it probably sounds quiter because I've turned down the sound in the video a little. The scissors are from Keren, but I couldn't really find them online. I've bought them locally. They look great but they are on the heavy side though
@@CharlotteKanStudio Hello again Charlotte. Could you possibly give me more info or pictures of where I could buy those Keren scissors. Where are they made. Are they forged scissors. . Where do you live or could you supply the supply place you bought them from? Thankyou
Mine were bought at a local wholesale company in the Netherlands. Here is the listing with a few closeups of the blade: www.debondtbv.com/schaar-24cm-1st-756420.html?option=56027&sqr=756420
I did a quick search online, but couldn't find the exact version on amazon, but if you look for "keren tailoring shears gold" you'll find pretty similar ones. The size I have is 24 cm. The blade says stainless steel, made in Keren.
Can i use this method of no dent and use my own measurements for the pouch size
Yes, you totally can adjust the sizes! It might be a little bit of a puzzle, but I’m sure you can figure it out.
Perfect!! Thanks for sharing, dear! It helps a lot! 🌷
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the lovely feedback!
Its beautiful.
Thank you! 🙏
Great tutorial and close up camera work!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much ❤.
Thanks for watching ❤️
This is great, just what I need, thank you! Xx
Glad it was helpful! 💙
Thank you so much dear friend.
You are so welcome! ❤
I just made one following your video and I love the result❤! I just have one question. Why do you sew the outer fabric and the lining separately? Wouldn’t it be faster if we do the outer fabric + lining together in each side?
That make me so happy to hear! Yes! Great question! it's faster to sew them all at once, and you can totally do it that way if you prefer. However, for a lot of beginners it can be easier if you combine zipper and outer (or lining and outer) first since you have one less layer to worry about so that's why I preferred to show it like that. You can adapt the way you sew it to your own preference, skill level, and how the materials behave ;) I often take an extra step if it makes it easier to get more accurate result, but sometimes I just need to get something done and hope for the best 😅
thanks for your thorough reply. mine turned out really good I am so proud of it. I did an extra step (quilted the outer fabric with grids ;)). next time I will try sewing all layers together and see how it turns out! thanks again@@CharlotteKanStudio
Great video 👍
Thanks 😊
What a nice video thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thank you sooooo much. Very helpfull instructions ❤
Glad to hear you found it helpful 😃 let me know if you have a tutorial request. I’m always looking for new ideas 💡
Lovely video❤❤
Thanks ☺️
Where did you get those lovely leaf straight pins?
They are the "Leaf Momiji Head Pins by Tulip". The price is a bit extravagant for pins though, but they are so pretty! They are on the delicate side so if already bent one, however I'm not too precious with my tools.
That’s a nice method 👌
Thank you 🙏🏻
very very clear thank you
Glad to hear that! :)
Thanks. I made a purse for myself. Not as perfect as yours but I will enjoy the imperfection like the Japanese do. 😂
Luckily no perfection needed for a useful pouch 😅 I like to embrace the imperfections, but in the videos I like my projects ready for a close up 😆 Thanks for stopping by!
How much do you sell these for? Thank you
I don't sell them. I make them for myself and as gifts. Are you interested in selling them?
Thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Thank you ❤
💙 thank you just found your channel
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for checking out the video
Me gustan tus trabajos, me gustaría que los subtítulos los pusieras en español, te veo desde Madrid ( España) gracias
Thank you! Sorry I don't speak Spanish only can understand it with the help of google translate ;)
Genius!!!
Thank you :)
Lovely video. Great technique but i was just a bit surprised (17.24mins) that you show a hole between the zipper and the material? Was that deliberate? Honestly not trying to be rude just confused!
Thank you and great question! the little gap is deliberate, it's a consequence of using this method. There are other methods where there is no gap because the ends are sewn along the entire top over the pouch and sewn into the side seams. But if you sew the zipper into the side seams there is more bulk and the top corners dip. So depending on the look you are going for you have a gap or a dip :)
@@CharlotteKanStudio thank you! I understand now 👍🏽
Merci ❤
Thank you so much
