If you added some extra to your zipper slot in a bag- doing this would tuck it right in super neat in the groove- and look better than the usual way zips are put in. I'm going to give it a try next bag I make!
I stumbled on this video today and all I can say is WOW. What a great technique this is. I love the idea of being able to truly customize a zipper. I am always looking for new ways to make beautiful bags and this is something that I know I will be using a lot in the future. Thank you for sharing this great idea with us. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!!
Thank you Amy! This is fantastic, gives me so many options to coordinate my zippers to bags and even clothes. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your genius idea with all of us! I just love your personality!
Nice tutorial, I've been using ribbon to complement my zippers and those work well, too. Also like the glue stick and you're right about the purple glue, but that's good too. I can do without the music, especially the part where it sounds like a cry for help... but appreciate your straight forward presentation. Thank you.
A lot of great tips here, thank you! I saw some zippers with lace stitched over the tape and the wrong side of zipper gets sewn on to the right side of the fabric.
Super, super!! Love this new video which gives us the step-by-step to make a beautiful custom zipper. Highlight of my day to watch this and be inspired!
What a great idea! Thank you for the very clear tutorial. I will say the music was quite loud compared to when you were speaking. But I love this idea.
You can do it! I use to struggle too but I promise the more you do it the easier it becomes. You'll be able to feel when the teeth grab and you can tell if one side is in too much before you even pull that zipper head!
Great video Amy! As always you explain things so well and concise. Takes working with zippers to whole new level. Thanks for the shout out re zipper zig. You da'bomb!
How fun is this!?! Thank you for the tutorial. I have the metal towel rack for zippers. I used E6000 and glued it to a 3x6 stone tile from the big box hardware store. That way I lives in a drawer till I need it, but the stone tile gives it some "oomph" to hold it down when I need it! Thanks again for the tutorial.
Where have you been all my life!! and it is a long time since I started to sew. The covered zips look so nice I will do a sample and add this to my repertoire. You never stop learning. Sub’ed. Thanks so much
You can also put a big piece of double sided sticky tape on the back of the zipperhead, push it onto a tabletop so it’s secure. Then put the zippertape;on. Pull the zippertape/ head off the table and remove tape. Cost is nothing if you have the strong double sided tape.
I have the towel holder, and instead of using the sticky paper, I cut a piece of the rubber drawer and shelf liner (textured) about 1” larger all the away around than the towel holder, and the towel holder doesn’t slip around. The liner has a waffle-like texture and is inexpensive at the dollar stores.
This is a really cool technique. Where can I find the bag pattern that you used to show the custom zipper tape? Thank you so much for sharing this technique.
You’re Welcome! You can use anything that will soak up the heat and has a nice “flatness” to it. You can try a towel with a heavy book! My husband has some engineering books for the 90’s, those would work hahahahah!
Thank you! The green floral fabric can be found here www.hawthornesupplyco.com/mod-botanics-fabric-collection-by-beth-schneider/mod-botanics-in-foliage/CC5FB909848F/
Great video. Now I don’t need to worry so much about buying matching zippers. There is another way to put the puller on the zip. Feed the closed zip into the narrow end of the puller.
Thank You. And there’s only so many royalty free options for music in the software I use unfortunately. Not everything can be free and be good hahahahah, so I’ve decided it’s time I pay for some good music 😊. Have to build on each video and make each one better than the next.
I enjoyed the information but couldn't stand the music. The music was loud, I would turn down the volume. Voice over came back I'd have to turn it up again. Every time!

Holy mackerel. I am so thrilled your video was in my feed. Well done. Love your sewing machine as well

Genius as usual. Looks really sharp! (and now I need a mini iron and a 4 in 1 tool)....
Thanks so much!! Everyone needs that 4 in1 tool!

Amazing! I have the worst time with getting that zipper pull in. 😅

Thank you! Thank you! I love original ideas that I can use!
You are so welcome! So glad you liked it!
Now this could be a real game changer. I don't have that 4-in-1 tool, but I'm sure I can find *something* to use in its place. Thanks for posting!
You bet! A chopstick would work!
@@AmyLynneDesignstoo funny. I was just going to say chopstick.

I love that liner under my serger and my domestics. Keeps it from sliding around.
Great video. What pattern is the bag you were showing the zipper in?
Thank You! The pattern has not come to fruition. It was something I was just working on and making it up as I went along!
Excellent video! Thanks so much, Amy!
You are so welcome! Thank you!
What a cool idea! Thanks!
You’re Welcome! And Thank You 😊
Another great video Amy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Glad it was helpful! You are so welcome and Thank You 😊!
This is a really cool technique. Where can I find the bag pattern that you used to show the custom zipper tape?
Thank you so much for sharing this technique.
Thank You 😊! There is no pattern for that bag as of now. Just something I was playing around with.
Neat idea
Glad you think so! Thank You 😊!

Thank you Amy! Where can we get the cool zipper overlay that you have your tag riveted to?
That is a collection in the works! I’ll be adding them to the shop in the next two weeks!
Thank you! Fantastic video. I’m intrigued by the presser foot adapter on your machine?
You’re Welcome! Let me do a search to grab a link on it!

And your video was awesome!!
Yay! Thank you! Had a tiny hiccup with about 8 seconds of music that YT made me change so that had me worried lol!
I appreciate your kind words!
Great idea, thanks!!

Amazing ty. What is this clapper? Can I use something else on top of zipper after starching it?
You’re Welcome! You can use anything that will soak up the heat and has a nice “flatness” to it. You can try a towel with a heavy book! My husband has some engineering books for the 90’s, those would work hahahahah!

Have you ever used terial magic? It makes things stiffer than when i use best press.
I have not, but I will be ordering some to give it a try! Thanks for the info!
Very good idea, thanks for sharing. 🧡 my 4 in 1 also.
You are so welcome! That 4 in 1 can’t be beat!
I didn’t see if this had already been asked but, can a standard zipper be used with this technique?
It absolutely can!
Fabulous video. Also love that fabric. Can you tell me where it is from?
Thank you! The green floral fabric can be found here www.hawthornesupplyco.com/mod-botanics-fabric-collection-by-beth-schneider/mod-botanics-in-foliage/CC5FB909848F/
@@AmyLynneDesigns thank you. What about the fabric you were using as a demo?
That one was a fabric I have from Joann several years ago. There was no name on it besides “Joann”.
Great video. Now I don’t need to worry so much about buying matching zippers. There is another way to put the puller on the zip. Feed the closed zip into the narrow end of the puller.
Great tip!
Fraycheck the final edge
Totally an option
Zippy bags
Perfect to use on a Zippy!
The nailpolish and thebwaving of the hands is making me dizzy
Thanks for the feedback.
Interesting, helpful video; terrible music. It's totally unnecessary.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the video anyway!
PLEASE get rid of the horrible music. No music is fine. And no o e cares about your manicure. Just teach...which you are good at!
I’m not a fan of silence and I’m not sure what the comment about my nails is for lol.
Love the tutorial thank you….but that music makes me not want to watch it. The beginning part sounds like someone screaming.
