  • This is the official video on how to do the Butler Method. The Butler Method is the method I created to easily add zippers to your bags without having to fold, measure, sew and prep your zip prior to inserting your zip in your bags. It is one technique that after you try it you will use it on all your bags.
    You can grab the pouch pattern piece in my group on Facebook and I've uploaded it to Cricut Design Space as well!

    My finished pouch measures roughly 9"W x 6"H. I cut my exterior and lining pieces 9.5"W x 6.5"H. My zip is cut to 8.75" Long and the tab has a raw edge so it is cut at 1"H x 3/4" W (a #3 zip is 1" Wide). The tab I use is cork. If you use cork or vinyl you can have a raw edge and it won't have any significant fraying. Now if you want to do a tab that doesn't have a raw edge take a peek at my video the Easy Peasy Pouch and you'll see how I did those tabs. • The Easy Peasy Pouch
    Time stamps for that are as follows;
    9:10~ Prep of fabric tab
    12:42~ Sewing of Fabric Tab
    14:30~ Prep and Sewing of Cork Tab w/ no raw edges
    In the video I used a few things that you can easily pick up.
    I used 3mm tape from Tandy Leather tandyleather.com/products/253...
    The recommend the Skor Tape for domestic machines. It is not as sticky as the Tandy Tape. www.amazon.com/Scor-Pal-FBA_2...
    My Pinking Shears are nothing fancy. I use Fiskars www.amazon.com/Fiskars-12-944...
    My Olfa 45mm Splash Rotary Cutter www.joann.com/olfa-45mm-splas...
    The Thread Cutter on the side of my machine can be purchased here quiltstory.bigcartel.com/prod...
