Hi Shelly. I have good memories of being under the bed covers reading a book with my little dog when i was young. Good times. Only had my kindle basic for 2 weeks. Im loving it. New subscriber
Love your yellow top(or dress?) so much! 💛 I’ve had a kindle for a year and a half and it’s been a life saver for night time reading, especially pregnancy insomnia.
Absolutely agree with your sentiments, what a time to be alive. Ereaders have really change our reading game. I have a paperwhite for home and spoiled myself with a Basic model for on the go reading a luxury for sure. But I like that I can have a library with me. Please note pdfs take up more space than an epub so bear that in mind if storage space becomes an issue. Go well Shelly.
I think I might start using mine in bed before I go to sleep because I like what you said about being ready to sleep and then not having to get up to turn off the light or anything!
I just became a kindle girlie. It took me SO long to let go of my physical books but I’m unreasonably excited about my kindle. I was going to get the oasis but I couldn’t justify the price difference 😅 also, I’m likely going to just buy physical and digital copies because of the collector in me haha
I neglect my kindle but I am very grateful for its existence. You have made me want to go pick it up so thank you. It’s lovely to hear about your love of it ❤
I gave my new Kindle Paper White to a coworker (free of charge) and bought an iPad Mini in order to have all of my audiobooks, ebooks, Apple books, and library books on the same device. This system works the best for me.
I recently got anew Kindle and am trying to read more on it. When I was a freelance interpreter I had my Kindle with me every day. So many chances to read and so many books at my fingertips. I still take it with me on trips and outings more often than more than one actual book. Enjoyed your enthusiasm on this topic as I need to love mine more!
I finally purchased an oasis about six months ago after a few years of deeply regretting my decision to upgrade to a paperwhite - I needed the back light for nighttime reading but I missed buttons so much. And now I am completely in love with my Kindle Oasis and it’s reinvigorated my ereader love. Didn’t realise I could disable the touch screen! Doing that now! I also often think of how magical a Kindle would have seemed to my younger self. I’ve struggled with pain in my hands and arms in the past year and it has made reading physical books difficult, but the paperwhite was also extremely really uncomfortable for me to hold and turn pages so I find the ergonomics of the oasis super comfortable and that has been game changing in terms of pain management. You’ve made me want to do a video about my kindle! 😂
I love this so much. You know I love my Kindle reading too! I should do a Kindle update video - I really complained about my Oasis when I first got it (and I still think it is overpriced for what it is), but I have gotten used to it now. I especially love having page turn buttons and I love night mode.
I love my Kindle Paperwhite ❤❤❤ Its getting so that as much as I love books I prefer reading on my Kindle. I like the fact that I can have alot of books downloaded so I always have something new to read. I also like that I can change the font size in books. I have a hard time reading books that have small writing. With my Kindle I can change the text size to what is comfortable for me.
I love my Oasis!! I have a cover with the Little Prince on it. LOVE LOVE LOVE the buttons! I'm surprised you didn't mention the ergonomic back of the Oasis! It's one of my very favorite features! Plus I l8ve that the Oasis screen will flip if you are holding it in your left hand ,,, meaning you have to turn it upside down to put the ergonomic piece on your left side but no worries because the Oasis flips the screen for me! Yes, I'm left-handed! I just bought the new Kindle Paperwhite in July during Prime Days just because... I didn't need it but I was able to get it really cheap...now I have a back up and I saw another RUclipsr use a clear case for her paperwhite and she decorated the back! So I did the same! It's fun! If I can attach or post a picture I will! Love hardback books....love paper books...love and collect beautiful editions of books....but love my kindle for ease and being able to "carry" 100 books on vacation....in my purse! Ohhh...you forgot to mention getting ebooks downloaded to your kindle from the library!! I do that a lot!! And it's free! I also get daily alerts from multiple sources as to what ebooks are on sale each day! Love that too! Immediate gratification and I don't have to leave my house! Great video!! Thanks for sharing!
The Little Prince cover! That's lovely and I kind of want one now! :) I'm lefthanded as well and LOVE that I can flip the screen. My library's app is the 3MCloud which is less ereader friendly than Libby which is probably why I forgot to mention it. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm with us! :)
I looooooove my Kindle too! I actually have both the Oasis and the Paperwhite. I use the Oasis for my bedtime reading and my Paperwhite is always in my backpack or beach bag. Ridiculous I know but I read so much more now with my Kindles. I also love paper books and have a small library. I try to just buy classics and my favorites in paper books but I love them just as much! You can love both! lol
LOVE my Kindle Paperwhite. I’m newer to reading regularly so all books I’ve read in the past year are exclusively on my Kindle. I know this may seem blasphemous… but I don’t like the idea of something physical piling up 🙈🤭. Love the ergonomics. I can even prop it on my leg while I’m on the couch and not even have to hold it! Love the dictionary lookup feature and the highlighting (and can send myself the highlights!). On the paperwhite you can also swipe to turn the page. All in all, a great investment!! PS - Super cute dress! 😊
Oh yes! I've been really attached to my kindle lately, too--a paperwhite with no buttons. I love that I can use it when I'm reading in the tub, but I definitely miss the buttons to turn pages. I used to have an early one with an actual tiny keyboard as well as the ability to press buttons on the left or right side of the device--and while I've gotten used to the digital keyboard for notes, I still miss the left-side buttons. Netgalley and Libby books--as well as classics in the common domain--are definitely the vast majority of what I read on it. I'm not sure my basic paperwhite has nightmode--but I'll find out this evening!
I love my kindle too and have that same cover. I often use my Kindle App on the IPad rather than actual kindle though as I just always have the IPad with me. 😊
I love my Oasis too. I didn't get a Scribe because it didn't have physical buttons like my Oasis. Also like asymmetry of weight, makes comfy to hold for hours.
Same! I have to force myself to read my physical books because deep down inside i prefer my kindle.. but love books so much and don’t wanna just buy them for decor 😅..
Ohhh...plus the Scribe is super expensive! There is a RUclipsr who does a cost comparison and tech (sort of) analysis of all the kindles on the market. His name is Dylan Johns
I watch Dylan too, but it's kinda a joke - does he ever read a book? He talks about books he has bought mainly. I still watch his channel - he is interesting. I meant this as being funny - I hope it doesn't read as complaining. I adore Dylan.
I really liked the physical buttons on my 2nd generation Oasis, but I also like the large screen of the Scribe . Unfortunately the battery life on my Oasis started to decline after a few years. I have been reading on Kindles since 2008.
What's a good discussion without an opposing view? lol. My favorite reads are mysteries from the 80s and 90s. Many of them have not been converted to digital and will never be.😕 Digital books should always be the cheapest (and they're certainly not!) because they are not actually mine unless I convert them and load them on my personal computer. Anything on "the cloud" is totally under the control of the owner of that server, not me! For ebooks from the library, I have owned some model of a Nook since 2006 and also use a Boox. I'm not a fan of the big A 🙂. That said, I'm so glad you enjoy yours and am thankful that many read digitally who would not read otherwise!! Good luck with the 6th graders!!
I love reading a n option different from my own. I completely agree that digital books should be cheap and, often, they are not. I had a kindle fire and wasn’t a big fan of reading on it. I love the matte screen of the kindle oasis. It’s an absolute favorite.
I read all most exclusively on digital devices of various types because I have a disability it's far easier. I would not be such a various reader without digital options. Like you my 12 year old inside me can't quite believe they exist though

Welcome!!!!!

Thank you! Thank you! It’s a quite old dress from Target. ☺️

I love receiving ebooks from you! It's like Christmas when it happens. Thanks for the special note about PDFs. I didn't know that.
I also love my kindle!!! I love your energy Shelly! cute :3
Yay, thank you!
I think I might start using mine in bed before I go to sleep because I like what you said about being ready to sleep and then not having to get up to turn off the light or anything!
I just love using my kindle at bedtime.

I've heard of the ipad mini really working for some. I read graphic novels on my iPad and really enjoy that.
Thank you Shelley!
You are so welcome!

Please do!! I just love my ereader. I think it’s a game changer. ☺️ I snubbed it as well when they first became popular.

Thank you! Yes, the Oasis is uniquely comfortable in the hands. I truly love it. And I use the dictionary mode all the time! Great points!

I have a paperwhite as well and read on it for years before Ted gifted me the Oasis. I'm certain the basic paperwhite has nightmode - nearly certain.
@@Shellyish Yep! Thank you. What fun!

Absolutely!!!
I love my Kindles, too. 🧡🎃
So great!!!
I was against using an Ereader, but I'm traveling to London in a couple months, so I'm considering a Kindle.
I really love mine! :)
@@Shellyish I'm leaning towards an Oasis.

📖 just letting you know I was here.
Hi Deea!!
The Oasis is water resistant! It is perfect for the beach and I actually read in my pool using the Kindle Oasis. You are not from Florida, i assume.
Close! I’m currently live in South Carolina. Thanks for reminding me of my kindle’s water resistant-ness.
