The writing in cursed bread is absolutely mesmerising, and it is so unique! I love Sophie Mackintosh’s writing. Even in the first few pages it was so poetic, I couldn’t put it down.
I am currently reading The Marriage Portrait and could not put it down the whole weekend. Love the fact that it has given me a decent list of new vocabulary however it also makes me question my English (as a third language) degree 😁
I read Pod per Lena Norms recommendation and LOVED IT. I really felt like I was experiencing the clashing cultures and suffering of these ocean creatures
As an aspiring booktuber it's videos like these that keep me going. One day, hopefully, I too will get a box full of books that I cannot wait to dive into. Either ways, great video as always, Jack. Thank you for existing❤
I've been reading the Women's Prize nominees for years, and this is by far my favorite longlist. My top reads from this year were: Demon Copperhead, Stone Blind, The Bandit Queens, Pod, and Cursed Bread. Simply amazing books! Highly recommend the audiobook for Demon Copperhead and Stone Blind.
I love Sophie Mackintosh, I loved 'The Water Cure' so I am looking forward to reading 'Cursed Bread'. Black Butterflies, Pod, Fire Rush and The Dog of the North all intrigue me.
1:31 - The Bandit Queens 2:15 - Memphis 2:50 - Children of Paradise 3:44 - Wandering Souls 4:40 - Homesick 5:25 - Cursed Bread 6:02 - The Dog of the North 7:15 - Glory 8:03 - I’m a fan 9:07 - Stone Blind 9:41 - Pod 10:18 - The Marriage Portrait 11:09 - Demon Copperhead 12:26 - Fire Rush 13:07 - Trespasses 13:50 - Black Butterflies
Demon Copperhead is really brilliant! 💙 Go with your instinct: read it right now! 😄📚 I hope it wins. But Fire Rush and Wandering Souls are also excellent.
I read Demon Copperhead as an ARC months ago. It was a very good book and very well written but I had a hard time getting through it because it was just so sad and it seemed like the poor kid just couldn't catch a break.
I literally just loaded my kindle with 4 of these books hours ago. I started with Trespasses and was curious about booktube’s thoughts on it then your video popped up 😅
My biggest dream is to publish the book I am currently working on. My second biggest dream is that it will be nominated for a prize and as a result Jack will read and praise it.
hilarious that this is the year My Last Duchess is the named poem in English gcse when it's based on the duke of ferarra killing his wife! it's like maggie o farrell knew!
I think you would really like Y/N by Esther Yi, it's about a woman who becomes obsessed with a k-pop idol and you just see her self sabotage and push real people away because of her "relationship" with this famous man
I have read 5 out of 6. Not Pod. I would love Trespasses or Fire Rush to win, but think Demon will. I have loved reading these books and will definitely do this again next yearx
I've been listening to Glory on Audiobook. The narrator is superb but the format isn't my favorite and the subject is heavy. You have to really dial into the audiobook so I can't really listen to it while I do anything else. It's a challenge. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's definitely not easy.
I love the fact that Jack gets big boxes of books that he reads diligently and makes videos on it. Good for you.
I don't know where he ordered them though. Books of a same order always arrive in separate packages and at separate times for me...

Exactly what I want to see. More women authors.

I've heard so many conflicting reviews of the dolphin book that I really hope it wins. I think some people will actually explode if it does.
Yes, read Demon Copperhead right now!
memphis is incredible!! genuinely got me back into reading
I think you would really like Y/N by Esther Yi, it's about a woman who becomes obsessed with a k-pop idol and you just see her self sabotage and push real people away because of her "relationship" with this famous man

Oh my gowd! This is fun
Nice !!
Heyy Jack! Are you still writing your book? We definitely need updates ❤
Please make a video once you read these! I wanna hear all your thoughts
Women have a lot more to talk about than just ‘love and loss’ and failed marriages. I hope next year there is a wider range.
I'm 6 minutes in and I don't think any of these are about just a failed marriage or love and loss. Lots about place, communication, family and more
didn’t love trespasses… tried so hard to like it, the Troubles are such a rich historical period but the story itself fell flat imo
I loved the first half of demon copperhead so much and then it just seemed to fizzle. Hated Stone Blind- it felt really disjointed.
Dumb question but is there a men’s prize list? I’d be interested in seeing that too
Read Demon Copperhead.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bonjour !
I've been listening to Glory on Audiobook. The narrator is superb but the format isn't my favorite and the subject is heavy. You have to really dial into the audiobook so I can't really listen to it while I do anything else. It's a challenge. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's definitely not easy.
Did u get them for free?
Ey
What does long-listed mean?
It's means they're initially nominated (out of a lot of books that publishers sent), and then a short list is made of those books
Alright got it! Thank you!
jack’s videos are literally the boost I need after a long day at work 🥲🤭❤️
I am here way to early
cannot believe im this early
I’m the first view. So excited.
Omg Jack please read Demon Copperhead 🥹 Its by far my favourite of the year!
