I bought my first Kindle 11 years ago. I was torn because I felt like I was betraying books by going electronic and someone gave me great advice, “you can do both”. I love so many things about my Kindle but my favorite is being able to make the font comfortable for me. The thing I miss is the aesthetic look of books (I have them though). I have the beginnings of arthritis in my hands and holding a big heavy book can be painful. It’s just great to have options.
I know exactly what you mean! I held out on getting a kindle for a long time because I didn’t want to give up printed books, but like you said, enjoying both has been great! Still love printed books but also get to enjoy the convenience of the kindle!
Same! I miss physical books too, in theory, but in actuality e-books mean that I'm never, ever, ever, out of something to read! I kinda miss books stores a little too! But I've always read too fast and too often to keep myself in reading material before e-books. Now, I've always got something that's at least readable if not fantastic.
I love my Kindle! It's wonderful! I love not needing a booklight, being able to enlarge the print, and not having to carry around heavy books. I take my Kindle everywhere with me. :)
I might be a bit dramatic, but my Kindle has been the best addition to my life since the birth of my child. I haven't been able to read during the day, so the Kindle made it possible for me to read comfortable at night and gave me a break from my daily routine.
Haha I totally understand! The kindle really is a game changer! It makes reading so much more convenient, especially being able to read comfortably at night. Thanks for watching! 😁
I’ve had a kindle since 2009 and would never be without one. Just the ability to adjust font size, built in dictionary etc is worth it for me. I also have kindle unlimited and audible which I use all the time. There are so many free books etc as well…mine have more than paid for themselves. I’m one person who has adjusted my margins to narrow and bolder print etc…and I read much faster. I LOVE my kindle..it’s just the greatest. I also use Libby, hoopla and overdrive which is essentially the same as Libby. My husband has his own kindle too and we use daily.
As soon as i found out about the online library app years ago, mine was Overdrive, now its switched to Libby, i use it all the time to request books and if there is a wait for the book i just read books through my Kindle unlimited until it comes in. I also talked to a librarian and she showed me how to request books they do not have in their system and all of them I have requested they have purchased. I love the size of the paperwhite, I love the book cover I'm reading when I turn it on appears, I love that I can read in the brightest of sun and my favorite favorite...... I love that my charger stand charges my kindle with my cover on.... quickly!
I love that I can easily define words and I do it All. The. Time. I never realized how often, while reading physical books, that I would self-define a word based on the context and root of the word. Which works-ish, but isn't ideal. I also love that I can add my own documents! My study guides live right next to my source material, which is great if you're like me and are prone to loosing loose papers.
I just bought my first Kindle, and I'm waiting for it to be delivered, and I'm so EXCITED!! This video is excellent and very helpful also not to be weird, but I really like listening to you, lol! The way you explain stuff and talk is awesome. 😂 Sorry if that's weird to say.
I've been a long term Kindle user but my last device was from years ago. I was ready to upgrade and did a bunch of current Kindle reviews. Your previous video you posted tipped the scales in favor of the Paperwhite. Libby's the best. Appreciate your channel!
Thank you so much, Jessica! 😁 I’m glad the video was helpful! I definitely think you made the right choice with the Paperwhite - I think it’s the best kindle available for the price! And yes, Libby is such a game changer!
Just found your channel and subscribed! :) I ADORE my Kindle. It's seriously like my most treasured item. Fun fact, Kindle Unlimited has recently extended the amount of titles you can have at one time from 10 books to 20! I also loooove that you can get new releases so quickly. In the last few weeks I got Defend the Dawn by Brigid Kemmerer at like 11pm the day before it was supposed to come out, I was pretty chuffed. Going to watch more Kindle related content on your channel now! :D
I’m all for digital comics but don’t like them on my Kindle because the lack of color. But I have considered using it for Manga because they’re usually B&W already.
That’s a good point! I think the kindle would be great for manga but maybe not for graphic novels or comics, especially if you want the full, colorized, experience.
In U.K. we have 20 Kindle Unlimited titles. Plus with KU there are as you said free audiobooks or low cost linked. Whispersynch in general is such a good program I use it a lot.
The tip to remove the ads worked :) I told them via chat it looks like I brought the version with the ads and if they could remove them. The person said typically it costs $20 but that I was a valued customer so it would be free of charge
As usual, a great video! The convenience is the greatest thing about a Kindle. Love Libby and it would be nice if Amazon would incorporate it so that you only have to use a Kindle and not another device. I really prefer to browse for books on my tablet, but it would be nice to have on the Kindle if you were someplace where your phone or tablet was not available. I have Kindle unlimited right now, but if Libby was not compatible with Kindle I don't think I would use the Kindle nearly as much. Enjoy your videos so much!
I bought a Kindle thinking it would be fo fun but you know what every benefit of a Kindle is better reading on my phone. It fits in my pocket, I always have it on me.
I’m just getting back into reading. I just got kindle unlimited and so far love it. Not sure how fast or how much I will be using it but definitely worth the 10 dollars a month. I live in Canada and my local library uses Libby however I’m not sure if they use kindle to support it. Great video
Thank you for watching! 😁 I agree, at $10 a month, I think Kindle unlimited is worth it! Unfortunately I have heard that Libby doesn’t integrate with the kindle in Canada, but hopefully one day soon it will! Happy reading!
I’m a retired publisher as well as an avid book-lover. Much as I love Kindle the shortcomings are immensely frustrating. My eyesight is deteriorating markedly now I’m in my 70s. Being able to enlarge the text is a great boon. Most of the books I read are not available in large print on paper. I have an older Kindle Reader, a 10 inch Android tablet and a PC with a 42 inch UHD display. Kindle Reader software on the PC only allows a fixed width column of text that limits it to 23% of the screen width! The larger I make the text, the more page turns needed to progress through the book. I’m forced to sit a metre (40 inches) from the screen while watching a movie would be best at about 2 metres. I’m crippled with arthritis and moving my chair is immensely difficult. At least I don’t have to endlessly faff around editing formatting codes to create a halfway decent reading experience any more… Like the parson’s egg, the good bits are very good indeed, but the bad bits are horrid.
So thanks to your awesome Kindle videos I upgraded to the new Paperwhite Signature. I was wondering, for some reason I haven't been able to attend any Epub books to my new Kindle. Can you help? 😅🙏
Thank you for a detailed description of why you like your Kindle. I agree , they’re great. I like mine mainly for 2 reasons. As I’m getting older, the larger print availability is very handy. Also, the ease of getting a book with the press of a button. So handy ! Do you have the Paperwhite or the Signature PW ? I have the regular PW and the Oasis. I prefer the PW. Happy Reading.
Agreed! The kindle makes reading super convenient! I currently have the Paperwhite and an oasis. I like both for different reasons, but probably prefer the oasis a little more than the paperwhite.
Not gonna lie Kindle is a big level up compared to books. Even though I love books but Kindle really is way better in many ways. Just the dictionary, Word Wise etc. makes it so easy for not native English speakers to start reading in English even hard psychological books for example. Extracting highlights or even see what others highlighted is just amazing. Easy to carry, easy to hold and the ability to show time and extra information about the progress is just tiny but important features. I can't recommend enough who is into reading. The only negative thing are some Kindle books are so expensive. Some of them even more expensive than the physical books. Even though don't need to spend money on printing or delivery. And you can't legally share them. You don't get discount if you already own a physical version. There is no notification if there is a newer version of the book so you don't end up buying them twice(just happened to me). For sure there are a lot to improve but Kindle wins for me easily over physical books. Sure it looks nice to have a display of books but still.
I totally agree! I love those features and I think it makes reading so much easier and convenient. It is crazy how they price some ebooks though! Like you said, sometimes the ebook is as much, or more, than the printed version! I don’t get it 🤷♂️
All that is true and attractive assuming you are a prose lover. As someone who prefers poetry by a huge margin, I think Kindle Unlimited isn't where it's at. In fact, most of the poetry on my Kindle got there as PDFs I manually sent there.
I’ve been hoping to incorporate more manga into my reading! 😁 I started Dragon Ball not too long ago and am enjoying it, though I’m not very far into it.
Cool beans! I've owned a Nook for 10 plus years but just started reading again (I'm taking care of a very sick family member). I'll keep using the Nook for the few books I have but, I bought a Kindle Oasis Friday. I have over 250 audio book on Audible, how or are they tied into Amazon Unlimited?? Thanks my friend
I hope you love your new Oasis! If your Amazon account is linked to your audible account, your library of Audible audiobooks will automatically be available on your Oasis when you set it up!
It also remembers where you left off on the book in case you want to read something else and turn in the book to get another that just got released by a favorite author. I made a category for books I will get back to in order to remember. I read a book a day so I do lose track of whether I read the book or where in the series of 8 books I happen to be, but Amazon remembers for you and the new flag where you mark the book read is great except you cannot see it while selecting books to read. I also look up words in victorian novels that are period specific or latin and usually get a description. Also the covers of what you read are hidden which can be embarrassing if they switch to a romance publisher and suddenly there is a bare chest on the front. One author complained in the forward of her book about some idiot reader saying all her words were misspelled when her character had an accent. All her books in that series were pulled off the market. I loved that author and felt bad for her. Kill idiot readers who do this. The person had to be an insane Karen to mark every single word that popped up. Overdrive does have books available with some international libraries because I contacted them, but my sister in Ireland says she cannot get it there (the Irish are cheap). The free books or $0.99 books from Bookbub to get new authors and books sent to your inbox based on categories you select are amazing. Sometimes I have them already but grab them in ebook format and sometimes they point me to kindle unlimited books I put on my Amazon to read later list. You just make a shopping list and rename the list to your future kindle reads. I have a category on Amazon for books read to help me remember to get the next book in the series later on or you can have a shopping list you name preorder to get your next kindle unlimited book when it changes status and switch to your list of books to read shopping list. You can also search your favorite book category on Amazon like science fiction or cookbooks by price and look for free book specials. I just checked and my kindle doesn't display my magazines from Overdrive or Amazon Kindle unlimited so you need another device. I never have time to read these. Overdrive library magazines do not count toward your book limit and are immediately available. By the way 5000 books take up the space of a 3 car garage so I recommend ebooks instead because they are a fire hazard. I have been collecting used books a long time because libraries are not adequate for someone like me. So arthritis was mentioned below. I am disabled too so use the kindle device with buttons and a triangle pillow you can order from Amazon which has a ledge to hold the device and you can rest your kindle at different angles like when in your lap or when in bed. This is a must have for everybody so I have one in bed and one downstairs by my chair. I would link it but RUclips doesn't allow it.
I love my kindle and thought I wasn’t going to (got it as a gift) I don’t leave the house without it. That being said there is just something about cuddling with a book ❤ lol I wish we could purchase physical books and have a digital copy of it for my kindle too
I agree 100000000%! I was very anti-kindle until I actually got one, and then I was hooked lol I think/hope one day physical books will come with a code that will give you access to the digital version of the book!
I’ve got the kindle oasis I’ve had for a year or a few year and I’m thinking to get back to useing my kindle because the kindle oasis has page turning buttons and I don’t need to use the touch screen and constantly clean the screen, I like my iPad because unlike my kindle on my iPad book appt I can download books I want I know a few websites for free book and like my physical books and my iPad my books are my own as long as I can keep them, I stay with my parents and we’re all in the one account so when one pops up I download it pops up in there so that’s what i don’t like about kindle.
I have a Goodreads account but I’m kind of bad about updating it/reviewing the books I read 😬 I’m going to try to dedicate more time to it! Here’s my profile: www.goodreads.com/user/show/145007959-dylan-johns

Excellent video. As you said, the compatibility with the Libby app is a huge added bonus. Thank you for the review.
Thank you, Mike! 😁 Libby, combined with the kindle, makes reading so easy and convenient!
I love yr channel ❤ i dont even have a Kindle but your personality brings me such joy ..
Samples has saved me so much money, it is worth the kindle price on its own.
That is such a good point! Samples are fantastic!

Bro number 4 on point!!! I literally just did that with the Fire and Blood book from George R R Martin. Love it !!!
I have been so tempted to start the series but always feel a little overwhelmed 😅 I’m glad you’re loving it!
Libby is great! Good video too.

FYI quotation marks are mainly an English language thing. When you look at books in other languages you will find that that dash line is the norm.
So thanks to your awesome Kindle videos I upgraded to the new Paperwhite Signature. I was wondering, for some reason I haven't been able to attend any Epub books to my new Kindle. Can you help? 😅🙏

You can have up to 20 kindle unlimited books in your library now 🎉
Woohoo! 🥳 That’s a game changer!
