I’m glad you enjoy your kindle. Mine sits sad and alone on the piano, collecting dust, without power, neglected. Destined for some drawer where it will spend its long days , it’s purpose unfulfilled, sad and bitter. I should feel guilty about it’s tragic fate, but alas, I just like turning actual pages.

That's why you didn't know about the Different edited versions of IT, or the 2nd book 2 The Wolf's Hour by Robert Mccammon if you read it on Kindle it would have told you.

As someone who recently upgraded to the Oasis I can’t tell you how much nicer it is. You mentioned you’d like to read in bed, often times holding it with one hand. The Oasis has an ergonomic bevel with page turn buttons and a warmth light for reading at night. It is totally worth the extra money.

I got a Kindle a couple of years ago, but my reading has still skewed heavily to hardcopy since then. I agree it's perfect for reading in bed or lying down, takes away the constant struggle to get comfy and also the times when I accidentally drop a 500 page book on my face! But like some others in the comments here, I often tend to forget that I have it for long stretches of time. Great discussion, Gina!

I love my Kindle and would be lost without it. I've had a Kindle since they first came out, and will continue to own one. My vision is not what it used to be and I just can't read the small print that is in some books. I like being able to read in bed with just a low light. I like the convenience of being able to carry a selection of books on one small device. With all that being said, I also love my paper books. I love the beautiful covers, the illustrations, even just holding them and turning the pages. (Just not the chunkers. I have arthritis, and sometimes that is a problem.}. Now I have to tell you, I also enjoy my audio books. I like to hear the accents, and the pronunciation of words or phrases in a different language. I can listen to a book while doing a jigsaw puzzle or working on a craft. I guess I should say I just love to read and will take my books any way I can get them. So many books and so little time. LOL

I own that exact Kindle, in the same GORGEOUS hot pink cover, and it is probably my most favorite possession. I also love to read in bed (although not in the dark because I think the light is like a beacon for all the scary nighttime things to find me :) ) and it is just so much more comfortable than a paper book. Two other things I love are the ability to read my Kindle book on my Kindle, phone or tablet and it keeps my place and also downloading library books to it. And, as I am aging I find the font in some paper books really straining to read, so being able to select my font size and light brightness is becoming a life saver! Thanks for a great video!

I love this! Thank you for posting. Im glad Im not the only one who sort of wrestles with this. I love my paperwhite so much ( first, because I tend to read in bed, and secondly, because I have psoriatic arthritis, and sometimes it just hurts to hold a heavy book or to hold a paperback open), but I have this long standing argument with myself that when I read my kindle I miss paper, and Im not supporting my favorite indie bookstores (so when I read a book on kindle that I enjoy, i"ll buy the paper from my favorite booksellers to keep on my shelves). I do get tons of my kindle books from the library on libby so often I don't have to purchase both. I tried just buying a booklight (because I also read in bed, but my husband wakes up at 4:30 a to go to work, so he goes to sleep very early), and the booklight is nice, but the kindle is so much more convenient, especially when I wake up in the middle of the night and want to read. It its so much easier to just reach for my kindle. I'll just keep ordering the books that I enjoyed after I read them. I love Ann patchett because Im addicted to her youtube content, so I love to order from Parnassus books. I also love Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach because they always helped me find books when I was a kid (we had a trailer down there during the summers. My parents retired there now so still go often). Then there are two local indie bookshops that I love (Philadelphia suburbs) So I try to still support them all. My husband gives me a little grief about ordering books that I already read . He and my parents help me out by giving me pretty significant gift cards to each of the stores for christmas, so that will ease my guilt throughout the year. I try and justify it as some women collect shoes, and I collect books. Plus, I really do enjoy seeing books that I enjoyed on my shelves.

I love my Kindle so much! I've recently discovered that it's a great treadmill companion for me, since it's so easy to turn the pages and I don't have to hold it down or anything. I love what you said, that it feels like the grownup version of reading under the covers with a flashlight with the Kindle. I've thought that many times over the years. Paper books will always be number one, but there is something to be said for ebooks. And I also wish that if you bought a paper book then you'd get the ebook copy as well!
