    Another benefit to Kindle that is particularly useful for classics is the linked dictionary. So useful to just highlight a word you don't know and a definition / wiki page pops up

    Love this video and I like your stickers. I bought my first Kindle in 2011 and I've read and purchased a lot more books since. I own the prettiest physical copies I can find of all my favourite books and I acquire those little by little, adding a few each month, but discovering new books happens on my Kindle (only when I know they're favourites do I purchase physical copies to keep forever). I love that it's backlit (easier to read in the evening), that I can DNF a book and move on to the next easily from anywhere, I love Kindle Unlimited, I love that I can get books at midnight on release day. I know a lot of people think that owning an eReader might make them read less but it's been the total opposite for me and my physical book buying has increased tenfold so it's a win-win for all kinds of books!

    I’m glad you’re enjoying your Kindle so much! Mine really saves my eyes when the only paper copy of a book I can find has small print, or when I don’t have a good reading light nearby. 🤓 It’s also so convenient for traveling! You can take lots of books and have hardly any weight in your suitcase. Paper books are still my favorite, but it’s nice to have options.

    I finally bought myself a Kindle last year after swearing I would stick with physical books only for life. But phases of life. As I travel more and more and home is not necessarily in one place alone a Kindle just makes sense. I agree it is a game changer in so many ways, so easy to access so many things and my favorite thing is I don't have to turn on the lights to read. So right before I go to sleep or if I wake up during the night I love not having to get out of bed or turn on glaring lights.

    I love books. I collect them. However, with that being said, as a severe fibromyalgia sufferer and a traveler, if I can only choose one, I'm going with team Kindle. Large books like the 1500 page Count of Monte Cristo don't travel well and would be impossible for me too hold up in bed. They are just too heavy. I love being able to carry around books on a very lightweight device. My Kindle goes everywhere with me. I like reading classic books and books from the 1700s and 1800s, so the built in dictionary is great for unknown old words. My eyes aren't the greatest either, so being able to make the font bigger is a huge plus! Kindles are waterproof where books are not; I can take my Kindle to the beach or pool. I can get a book instantly on my kindle, no need to drive to a store, and many are free from my library. I think it's all about doing what works for you and what you like.

I use a Flippy to hold it many times also.. it is so very different from phone.. I use the dark screen with white lettering. There are many free books too like freebooksy which sends an email daily of free kindle books. I started Kindle unlimited last year and I love that too which is 9.99 a month but I think it is well worth it. They have most classics free on there too. Also don’t forget you get kindle firsts every month where you get a free book to choose out of about eight the y choose of new releases if you are a prime member. I also read faster on my kindle as I narrowed my margins .

  • @marenlatham4349
    @marenlatham4349 Год назад

    Nooooo! Hahaha! Well, I totally get it. I hear all of the reasons why they are great. The most tempting reason is the 'hard to get' classic books. And yes. What about all of those books you want to read, but your library is not bringing them in, and you don't want to shell out full price for a book that might suck....so then 2 bucks for a kindle version sounds great. But I am a curmudgeon. Grumble grumble. I only like to read a physical copy. When Kindles first came out, I worried it would be the death of physical books. I no longer think that. Nothing will ever replace a beautiful, physical book. There will always be a market for them. But now my worry (for myself) is that if I had a Kindle and books were so easy to get, I'd just have a huge pile (so to speak) of all of these non physical books that I wasn't reading. A physical book makes it more important....more of an investment, so then, more likely to be read. But I will say that if I read as much as a lot of people in the bookish community, I'd probably have to break down and get a Kindle. It makes sense.
