    Yeah, your allies won't fight the war for you. The way the AI is programmed, they send in one big fleet that's constantly reinforced by the new ships they build... the problem is, if that main fleet gets destroyed, they still keep trying to reinforce it. In other words, they send every ship they build into the fray as soon as it's built, essentially sending single ships to their deaths over and over and over again.
    Great when you're fighting against them, since all you have to do is destroy their main fleet and you've pretty much won the war, but when they're on your side, it's very annoying.

    Personal Log #6:
    It has been so long that i almost forgot what she looked like. I haven't been to Earth since I left to govern the Jehet Sector. But i wish it was under better circumstances, no, i have arrived to pay my respects to Terrance Green. He was a good man, a great friend. He was there to see me off nearly`six years ago, and mentored me up until my departure. while meeting with friends and family, my aides contacted me and notified me of separatist riots on Jehet Prime, after the funeral i must leave for the sector capital immediately.
    Personal Log #7:
    The vote for the living state program finally went through and was passed, i immediately created social welfare programs for the sector and support for the alliance has grown among the Jehet, grown so much in fact that some of the Jehet are signing up for the military, we project several armies to be created to be used as a garrison force. This will help tremendously as the Jehet volunteers will paint a picture of unity, not of occupation. although i have heard whispers in some of the men, they don't trust them, they feel that if the separatists attack the Jehet armies will side with them, this is a valid concern, but a necessary risk as we need their support in order to achieve peace.

    The war against the Directorate was going badly, to say the least. The Foundations military and industrial capability had been devastated by the ongoing conflict, and since the Virdamon Massacre, no large fleets were active in Djunn space. Wishing to establish a forward supply base and staging area, Marshal Shack gave orders for a new colony to be established in the Borce system. An advance fleet cleared out a group of hostile crystalline entities, and the colony ship made the journey to the moon of Borce Prime.
    However, something unexpected happened. A massive fleet, consisting of almost twenty ships of unknown make, emerged from hyperspace in the system. They showed no hostility towards the Alliance ships, but instead made for the crystalline entities that still remained in the system. After several months of decoding their transmissions, Alliance cultural scientists managed to unlock the key yo their language and establish formal communications.
    The Haddam Coalition is, to put it simply, a mega corporation. The Haddam are a mercantile, heavily religious people, and their faith seems to center around the concept of trade and capitalism. Their entire society is designed like one of the many corporations that operate in Alliance space.
    Communications with the Haddam also revealed another new power, known simply as the Principality. Not much is known about this nation, but the Haddam have made it known that they are in a 'Just Compact' with the Principality, and that they stand together in all matters of foreign policy. Combined, they would be a nigh-unstoppable enemy.
    The massive Haddam fleet still hovers in the Borce system, where our colony is now being established. The question now stands; has the Alliance found another potential trade partner and ally to the east? Or have they found another Saathid Confederacy?

    Isn't building another colony going to cause problems because you are at your planet cap???? I think the mentality for your ship designs should be big heavy tank destroyers at the front with powerful close range weapons and all of your corvettes are glass canons that attack from far range. Just like how you are playing in your Star Wars campaign right now where you are using the MC80s as tanks in the front with everything in the back.

    Sir, have you considered moving some of the Jehet population offworld? Perhaps to a colony under your direct command? Perhaps a change in scenery will improve their mood, and perhaps seeing their people succeed at the frontier of the Alliance will encourage those in the Jehet sector to be more open to the idea of becoming citizens.

    Also, it's DEFINITELY worth updating the hyperdrive & thrusters on the science & construction ships, since it will get them to their jobs, which are often multiple jumps away and spread around each system. This will vastly increase the efficiency of each one, so less are needed ;P

    Situation analysis below! I've been catching up on this play-through for about a week and a half and I've saved all of the observations for this episode.
    1. Imperial Spending: You are going to have serious issues running both a military-heavy empire and the welfare state policy, it's possible, but I wouldn't say it's cost-effective.
    2. Policies: You should enact the 'information quarantine' policy immediately (and pretty much should have had it active all game). Your ethics divergence is going to destroy your empire from the inside and I would be surprised if you could come back from it at this point. Give a quick look at the other policies as well, some of those are definitely worth the influence.
    3. Old Space Stations: In the same vein as number 2, you need to maximize your influence intake, especially since you need it to colonize now. That old outpost in the southern section of your empire is now useless, and it's area is covered by an actual colony, so you need to decommission it so it will stop draining influence and power. Button in the top right of the panel, with the big red X, will decommission stations and ships. Additionally, the military outpost in the center of your empire guarding a system with no colonizable planet in it is now useless, it needs to be stood down as well.
    4. Fleet Diversity: You cannot go heavy on one weapon or another in your fleet. You've gone very far into the game without researching lasers or missiles, which makes it very easy for enemies to defend against you (and your orbital shipyards and defensive stations). Try to have a good balance of anti-shield and anti-armor weapons. Don't just build 20 torpedo ships.
    5. Planetary Research: You have been criminally neglecting both Physics and Engineering research on your planets. You haven't even researched the basic physics or engineering labs this far into the game!!! You have, instead, been constantly building society labs, which are good but you need to balance your research. You cannot ONLY research society.
    6. Colonization: There are two sets of technologies that have been needed for some time now in order too keep up with the empires around you. First, you need to pick of the tile-clearing techs (all of them). They are cheap and will make not only your current planets more efficient, but will prepare you for any new planets you colonize. Second, you need to learn to colonize the other planets! Especially OCEAN and TROPICAL as these are the closest to terrestrial planets, and are great colonies for humans!!! Look at the empires around you, quickly snapping up planets left and right. It's time for the second human diaspora, get a few new sectors up and running and colonize like crazy. Soon enough, you will even be able to terraform some of the crappier planets, so you could turn Tundra's/Desert's into something better for humans.
    7. Planetary Shipyards: You should have a shipyard above EVERY PLANET (Including those in sectors). These shipyards give basic defenses, can be energy neutral (after installing solar panels), and will enable you to raise fleets at lightning speeds. You are bring in tons of minerals, it's time to get AT LEAST 4 destroyer-yards up and running, so you can build (and re-build) the fleets very quickly. It's all about being able to turn minerals into guns when you end up in a war of attrition with a huge and powerful enemy. Prepare the Alliance for the unseen threats to come!!!
    Hope you can find any of this useful. Great let's play! :)

    That "front line outpost" on Borce isn't going to do you much good. Look at the map; the hyperspace lanes from Borce don't go anywhere near the front line where you've been fighting. Borce is EIGHT jumps away from the Directorate capitol at Virdamon! You could have colonized Falmir and been just as close, except your path from Falmir to Virdamon would have been through your ally's territory. From Borce, you have to move entirely through hostile territory, except for one system that's controlled by the Ansari (they won't like that), and you're completely cut off from your ally on that path.

    • @Skellitor301_VA
      @Skellitor301_VA 8 лет назад

      That may be, but it is still a closer location for him to bring his fleets to for repairs than Earth, which /was/ the closest spaceport.

    • @Wolfeson28
      @Wolfeson28 8 лет назад

      Yes, it's technically closer. But it's a horrible position to campaign from because it's completely cut off from his ally. It will be virtually impossible for him to help defend his ally's territory, or coordinate an attack, if he bases himself at that station. It's effectively allowing the enemy a central position, and to fight both Shack and his ally separately.

    • @waismartialarts1
      @waismartialarts1 8 лет назад

      I know this is old but from that position he can still launch attacks on the enemy and the enemy will have to split it's fleet to deal with both fleets

    • @Wolfeson28
      @Wolfeson28 8 лет назад

      Okxer Not really. As we're already seeing in later episodes, the fact that the Directorate uses wormholes for ftl means they can hit Borce/Green Wall or any of the other systems Shack is pushing through from the same central position that lets them attack his ally. They can hit any of half a dozen systems in one wormhole jump, while Shack's fleet has to keep going the long way around.

    Assume direct control, at least for a while.
    This way, you can organize things a little more to your choice.
    And another thing: You need more power hubs (1 per planet). You only have one or two total, and that's damaging your energy income.
    EDIT: And Kornephoros has some Betharium that you NEED to take advantage of.
    EDIT: And your colony next to the warzone takes too many jumps between it and your allies' systems.

    Another Trade Deal idea for you that I abuse the heck out of on my diplomatic race game. Trade anyone who is willing with research agreements from you for energy/minerals from them. My race running that is getting several hundred of each and is still the most technologically advanced race uncovered in that galaxy (barring Fallen Empire's of course) The serial trade deals also help raise opinions up more, which let you squeeze a bit more resources out of them when the deal ends and you can make another.

    I recommend hiring that industry specialist scientist if still possible when the influence is available. An industry specialist assigned to physics research provides a significant boost to the chance of *power generation technologies* coming up in the research options, and will also provide a bonus to research rates for them. I don't know if my comments in the past were noticed or not, but placing certain types of specialist in certain departments has a subtle but dramatic effect on an empires technological path. As random as the research may seem, it's actually very possible to deliberately pursue specific goals.

      Ambassador Atreides, Jehet Freedom Partisans.
      First of all, let me say that I, Ksenia Polachev, and all other senior leaders of the JFP wholeheartedly condemn the actions of radical individuals who claim affiliation with out party. Our purpose was never violent rebellion, but peaceful protest.
      Ever since the...unfortunate armed conflict between our peoples, the more radical elements that claim affiliation with our party seem to have been forced underground. The implementation of social welfare programs has also generated some goodwill among the Jehetma. However, there is still discontent seething below the surface. You have doubtless noticed the riots and sabotage attempts, which have crippled vast swaths of production buildings throughout the Jehet sector.
      Your new programs are a step in the right direction for making peace with our people, but more must be done. I recommend that at the earliest opportunity, the Alliance should research the ability to open its top leadership positions to Jehetma candidates. Our unique perspective will surely air you in your scientific endeavors, as well as the governance of your colonies. There is much to gain by doing this, and much to lose by refusing.

    • @DirgeOfCerberus111
      @DirgeOfCerberus111 8 лет назад +1

      Senator Dirge of the Nova Prosperity Party,
      It continues to be displayed that we were woefully unprepared for this war. Militarily and economically. We are retooling our infrastructure as we speak but we still lack a respectable fleet with which to combat the Cardassians. The Djunn are holding but I fear they can do little else. I have not exactly been awe inspired by their tactical or strategic expertise.
      We need a plan to end the war quickly so we can refocus our attention to domestic and diplomatic matters. This war is interfering with our ability to prosper in the galaxy. Colonizing Borce offers an ideal opportunity to outflank the Cardassians. I propose *Operation: THRAEX*, a flanking assault into Directorate Space from Borce that will outflank the Cardassians forces in Virdamon.
      Forget the Djunn, they have no idea how to wage a war. To end this quickly we need to fight this on our own terms and perhaps salvage something from this mess..

      Admiral Vating of the Military Party, reporting from outside the Directorate Territory on his new command ship! *Squeals like a little school girl at the holodeck, but quickly goes back to his usual state of calm, and yes, he is a hologram.*
      My announcement to the people has brought forth many volunteers to assist in this war by colonizing a small planet up close to the front line where we can place a spacedock. Through that, we can perform rapid guerrilla strikes, along with a place of safe repair for our fleet.
      Ambassador, I knew your people would enjoy the program. I also know that if you guys do just calm down, open your eyes, and see the Alliance for what it is, I can assure you, you all would be glad to be a part of us.

    • @atreides213
      @atreides213 8 лет назад

      I would argue that we have seen the Alliance for what it is, noble Admiral. While you and many others accept Jehetma as equals, your government at large does not. What is more, there is a disturbing sentiment of xenophobia growing on several planets, as evidenced by the struggles Fleet Marshal Shack had in finding non-xenophobic volunteers for the Borce Prime colony. We cannot exist in an empire that refuses to give us the right to run for leadership roles, and whose populace harbors a strong hatred of our kind. If these problems are fixed, then we may talk about integration. Until then, our goal is independence.

    Just hold the line with the jehet, they are breaking slowly. You need to get some close in destroyers soon cause the corvet's are just getting melted. also your going to need to connect your new colony to the rest of the alliance, use frontier base's first then fill in with planets. also don't forget about the race that's moving in, keep trying to work with them.

    I recommend you review the individual planetary edicts. In particular, Earth should enact the Overload edict and over drive the POWER PLANTS to produce more power.
    Also, you MUST replace the governor of earth ASAP. Governor will give you a few percentage points more power! (or more if you get lucky and have a governor with a power focus)
    And finally you should enact some propaganda edicts on the Jehet worlds if you can afford it.. At least their home world.

    • @robertkarmes1331

      I should really watch the entire thing before I comment eh? Good job on resolving the power crisis.
      The moral crisis is a bit more difficult. You might be able to score some happiness by changing your policy stances.. hover over one of the Jehet citizens and see what is reducing their happiness and see if there are any policies you can change to reduce it. When you get some influence back, you might consider some propaganda edicts too.

    Dr.Ashuer Cross: As PR director of the Jahet Sector and a veteran of the 1st Jahet Uprising it pains me to see 1/3 of the SA crippled and the foreign Carrdassian war effort hindered so attached to this letter is a proposal for a Jahet integration campaign.

      At the empire management menu look up the species management tab(similar to the factions tab)click on the Jahetma race and there should be a integration campaign 1 once that is complete they'll be no different from the "native" SA pops. And keep fighting the Good Fight.

    I think you need to build a fleet of at least 850 before you attack next.
    I know that sounds like a lot, but the more overkill a fleet is, the fewer ship they will lose in an engagement.
    Yeah, I would take manual control of some of those systems for a while, at least.

    Also, it wouldn't matter if you took direct control of Jehet Prime...putting in a build order for an entertainment center wouldn't do anything, because the whole planet is on strike....they won't build it. You've got to crush the faction, before anything will change.

    I love this game, but my biggest issue is that I can't tell sectors what to build. Like in your case you can't build happiness buildings. Central government should be able to build while sectors build their own stuff. I have several planets that are starving and can't go into to fix it. Sector AI is pretty bad. SO now I have to go and remove system from sector so I can go in and build it up to fix all the issues and then add back into the sector. Wish there was a mode that could let me control build que on sector planets.

  • @justinwilburn688
    @justinwilburn688 8 лет назад

    Hey Captain Shack, Trooper Wilburn reporting in!
    No no, in all seriousness though, when it comes to the military vessels designs, I might recommend the tactics that are being utilized by many naval vessels today. Typically most war ships have enough range and precision to take targets out before they close the range, this is why battleships aren't wildly used that much anymore. There's no need to duke it out if you can swat the enemy out of the sky before it becomes a threat.
    Now I'd like to state that all I know about Stellaris is from watching your play through, (My computer sucks so I live vicariously through yours), so I don't know all the small details about combat, but if you can attempt to implement something like that, into your fleets tactics or something.
    That's all I have for now, Captain,
    Wilburn out...
