  • In this episode we explore the small anchorage of Caleta Candeleros Chico, just a few miles south of Puerto Escondito. The hiking, diving and snorkeling where all great, and the sunrises and sunsets were the best.

This is our trawler life story.
We retired early and decided to make a big change. We sold everything and moved aboard our 54' Cheoy Lee passagemaker, a “go anywhere in the world”, ocean going power boat.
That was in 2014 and we have never looked back.
Now in our late 50's we are free of work and we are living aboard and cruising our trawler full time.
We have two additional crew members, feline brothers, Blake and Barkley. Yes, we have two brave (sorta) boat cats, on board!
Join us and our crew, on our adventures as we explore new places, discover more about our trawler and what makes her work, and learn more about ourselves in our young retirement years. Our hope is to entertain and inspire you to pursue your own passions through telling our story of our cruising trawler lifestyle.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking Cruising Sea Venture!
Best, Jim, Rosy, Blake and Barkley

Greetings from Port Ludlow. No snorkeling here, but it is pleasant. Thanks for the video!

Love the drone shots. All the videos are so lovely. I've done some watercolors from your scenes.

Great to see you guys in warm weather. All your (both of you) hard work to Sea Venture is paying off. Question: I just reviewed your electrical upgrade video for like the 4th time. How has the system been working? Is the 600 watt panels enough now that you are in great sun? I know you run the gen for big loads like AC etc. So now that you are really putting it to the test....any changes you would make? More lithium? More solar? Of all the boats on youtube yours is probably my favorite.

I really don’t think we would change anything. If we had more discrete space for solar, you could add it, but I don’t think we would run the generator less as a result, since we still want to run it to make water, run the air conditioning more than we can off just the batteries, run the dive compressor to fill scuba tanks, and run the washer and dryer. So all in all I think we got it just right for us.

Man it looks great. Any regrets you didn't go south sooner? I'm ready egen though it's beautiful in the PNW this weekend.

No, because there’s so much beautiful stuff in the Pacific Northwest. At the same time we’re having a great time down here. Thanks, Jim.

Looks Great!, Can you tell me what Maps/charts you used in the SOC? were they accurate?

Navionics on an iPad is about the only thing that gives you anything worthwhile in the sea of Cortez. Standard charts on our main navigation computer, which runs times zero, is extremely in accurate.
