This is our trawler life story.
We retired early and decided to make a big change. We sold everything and moved aboard our 54' Cheoy Lee passagemaker, a “go anywhere in the world”, ocean going power boat.
That was in 2014 and we have never looked back.
Now in our late 50's we are free of work and we are living aboard and cruising our trawler full time.
We have two additional crew members, feline brothers, Blake and Barkley. Yes, we have two brave (sorta) boat cats, on board!
Join us and our crew, on our adventures as we explore new places, discover more about our trawler and what makes her work, and learn more about ourselves in our young retirement years. Our hope is to entertain and inspire you to pursue your own passions through telling our story of our cruising trawler lifestyle.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking Cruising Sea Venture!
Best, Jim, Rosy, Blake and Barkley

Enjoy your visit home with your family. We have certainly enjoyed tagging along with you on this wonderful journey. Thanks so much.
Another nice Anchorage, I'm glad the air was a simple fix wow......and you found more caves ha ha ha
I've enjoyed everyone of your videos since California. I'm so glad you like my back yard, the Sea of Cortez. Thanks you for taking us along and sea you next season! I too am heading north to the SF Bay Area for family time but I will be sailing up and sailing back down in the fall!
"That's it for Spanish for the day." LOL
Living a good life thanks for the video. Also congratulations on your new grandchild.
Wishing you success on the Boat Projects yet to come... Have a safe flight home... Hope your Summer with family brings you as many rewards as you have given to all your viewers of the Channel. Looking for an occasional Update from time to time... Stay Safe & Be Well...
That Bimbo white bread is pretty good
Watching this from the guest dock of Everett; since I was here, I had to watch a Sea Venture video. I can understand why you went with a trawler, there's a rip current on the other side of the dock, and I was driven here by horrific chop in Possession Sound, which became dangerous, and my sailboat only does 5 knots under power. Great showing of Aqua Verde, makes me want to go there.
Have a safe trip home! One last video of the marina where you are leaving Sea Venture?
One more short wrap up video before we fly out.
Another question, what are your cruising plans for next season? Always look forward to your videos.
Still working on those plans. We are getting ready to leave the boat here in Puerto Escondido and will be back in October.
So I take it that insurance is cool with you leaving it there for hurricane season (for what you pay they should ge cool with anything!). Any special requirements?
Enjoy your time home!
They are. They only require we be north of Cabo from June 15 to October 15th. Puerto Escondido is known as the best hurricane hole in the Sea of Cortez. The insurance does require you have a written contract with a professional company to check on and take care of the boat while you are away, which we have arranged. Also, during hurricane season our deductible goes to $50,000. Crazy, I know. Thanks, Jim
Do you ever see any rattle snakes on your walks?
Not yet. While they are around, I believe they are actually quite rare.
as ruggedly beautiful as the region has been i have to say that my overall impression of the general region is that it is DESOLATE. literally you are cruising in a desert. tiny populations every where you go because you are in the middle of the desert. but its pretty. BTW those tacos are LEGIT.
It is cruising in the desert. So different than the Pacific North West.
