I have done this to all 4 of my vehicles and I never even thought about the wax and other stuff you used. Thank you so much for showing me all this and your precious time to clean your wheels! Cheers,
This is the ultimate method of cleaning your rims and dressing up your tires. I hope that my detailers spend the kind of time that he has. But when you really think about it just dressing the tires alone picks up the looks of any vehicle. Thank you for showing us the proper way to clean our rims but also thanks for sharing the products you use to accomplish this. THUMBS UP!
TO ALL THE NOOBS making comments about too much time... This is called detailing. Its only for those that like the appearance of a well clean automobile. Just like those that prefer oversized wheels and and loud exhaust systems. To each his own, but yeah this is an old hobby, you might want to take notice at a car show where there are classic vehicles so damn clean you could eat off of them.
exactly what I was thinking.. kids on here don't have a show car to even know what goes into a proper detail of a car. you end up cleaning things you didn't know could get dirt into lol
For real. This is a hell of a good job! People who take pride in their cars would really appreciate your service... I honestly never knew they had wheel wax. I would love try that out to help minimize the amount of brake dust that those wheels absorb... I respect this video. Most people don't even clean the whole wheel. I have been doing it for the past 4 months. It's like the more you clean your vehicle the more areas you learn to clean... Good Work..!
Accept this dumb ass holds the pressure washer within 3 INCHES of the damn rim possibly stripping clear coat. Oh, don't forget he laid it FACE DOWN ON CONCRETE.
From a pro detailers perspective, there's nothing wrong with a pristine detail like this if that's your thing. To each his own, but , if I was doing this level of detail to my wheels, etc., I would use a mat or something to not expose my rims to the bare concrete. I would also coat, then seal, then wax if I'm being this meticulous, so the work I put in would last for a while. Taking the rims off of the car from experience takes time (hrs. +,) brake dust won't stick, and in most cases you would be able to lightly soap and rinse clean. Wax only last for weeks, with how hot the wheel area can get, while most wheel coatings have a heat index that would stand up to the heat and beating the wheels would take. With all that consider this guy still did a thorough job on that rim. Thumbs up!
The people that don't get this are probably riding on their stock rims. After I purchased a new set of wheels, I take them off to wash and wax the back of them. It's a very satisfying thing to do.
I have yet to replace my stock rims.. the alloys are good but as I said above I take my car into the gravel and other crap - steels go on for that but still I have not adopted aftermarket 'look nice' rims but I still take care of them...suppose if my car never went off road I would care.. but a little extra effort never hurts anyone...
Nice work. To all the "they will only get dirty again" comments. Thus is the difference between valeting and detailing. It's about cleaning then protection so they are easier to keep clean now. 😜
It's ok he will just call the rim repair guy and he will fix the scratches and repaint the rim and then he can take the credit for doing a great job...
@@ruariwinter3585 it should do but doesn't always due to tire size, fitment (stretched tyres or tyres narrower than they should be won't be as affective). Also the spokes may protrude /stick out further than the rim/lip of the alloy.

Lexan and Glass Show case/ bar complete with stools. After I got her ready, I would put a mat down, roll her onto it, then use a front and rear stand to get her level. Afterwards, build up the case around her and place the 1.25" glass top onto her. Served the purpose of sealed storage and a functional bar. The case was a work of art, sealed with the rubber mat at the bottom and gaskets at every joint and between the top. Great work Lorenzo. Love the music too. A great result. I might do this to see my vehicle one day. I have painted steel wheels the same color as my truck. I just cleaned them then wiped on some spray paint the same color that they were. And they were revived. Cost $5.00 and 1 hour of labor for all my wheels. I did this about once a year after the truck was 8 yrs old. I traded my Tacoma 4 door and got $10000. They resold it for $14,000.
haha i litterly just take it to a cash wash im that lazy, i know thats how you would do it, if you wanted it properly done but from the time he does 1 wheels im already through the car wash and back home haha
jim brady I think you only do this maybe once year, once you've made it as perfect as possible you put sealent on it and then you're set. All it takes is a cloth and washing up liquid to keep it clean after that.
Good Job. I just refurbished 22 yrs old ATS Rims in a similar way, just used different products. I might give IronX a try next time. I like it, when you bring something old/used back to a new/unused condition.
I just bought some Iron X, some Auto Finesse Mint Rims Wheel Wax and a clay bar. Thanks for the inspiration! For all of you saying it takes too long, it's good exercise! You'll be starving after doing this.
Michael Elliott Cringed so badly when I saw the thumbnail for the video. Especially when one considers the video title - LOL. It doesn't even matter if the tyre has a pronounced lip. It's just not worth chancing it. All that's needed is a spare foot-well mat, preferably a rubber one. I wouldn't even put the rear of the wheel straight on the ground. Rule 1 of Wheel Club - you never place your rims face down on the ground. Rule 2 of Wheel Club - YOU NEVER PLACE YOUR RIMS FACE DOWN ON THE GROUND.
SANDSCORCHER I have tires that don't allow my actual rim to touch the ground but I place them on a extra piece of carpet i had left over after I re did the flooring in my house. I just couldn't do it haha I spent to much on my wheels. I mean hell even if you didn't buy after market wheels at least scratch them on a curb or something while parking don't do it because you were careless.
Seen that too, he had to have a towel or such under it that's unseen, guaranteed without we would have seen a screwed up rim after he showed the front!
+Justi fied I have yokohama S Drive tires, impossible for the rim to touch the ground has a rim guard on side of tire that will hit before ur rim does, as I am sure he also has.
Great job and effort. I'm not to sure about having 4oz of wheel weights. Either the rims where made crappy or the tires need to be replaced with something better.
Screw all the negeative comments from the trolls. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to clean up our alloys. Free advice greatly appreciated. Thanks dude.
Why is that with all you people criticizing this guy who tries his own way to show you how to properly clean his car wheels and not scratching them. I bet most of you do not even do it at all and just say i can do it better faster and more efficient. Then prove it upload your video and post it here so we can see how you do it and stop criticizing someone else.
Fuck man, I was interested in the video but come on with that slow ass depressing song, I could barely keep my eyes open. You spent like 2 entire minutes just showing us he wheel with the red stuff all over it and that creepy song in the background hypnotizing me lol
i used to be this neurotic about my cars cleanliness, untill i sold it for a beater. now i live with less stress and worry and it feels so great. good for u tho taking pride in ur ride
Only real carguys understand why its important to clean the rims this good, i clean my rims like this every 6 months, brake dust can fuck up the rims and these aint cheap, i paid 1500 for my rims/tires
Exactly! Only real car guys understand!...Novices will jump in and drive. I live in Canada and detail my car and rims periodically, as anally as the video guy. I clean and store my summer wheels as I use winter tires. Benefit to all this? Tens years in, ten winters, and she looks like the day I drove her out of the dealer, including my rims. F3
Josue Guzman If you paid only 1500 for your "rims" and tires you're not a car guy, you're just OCD. A car guy understands that decent tires and light wheels cost bank and make all the difference in handling.
Ryan Magladry No, you just don't do that. Always place the rim on some kind of protection. A rubber mat is my personal favourite. Easy to clean afterwards
Ryan Magladry you cant know how the asphalt truly lays better to use something that will minimise the chance of scuffing and scratching... something that gets reinforced when you work in a fast fit centre but I do know what you mean :)
People, this isn't anything you do every time you wash the fucking car. You basically do it once in the spring every year. I'd do it before car shows, tho. That'd be nice.
you know this is actually something useful to do every 6 months or so, it's been 2 years and I have never cleaned the inside of my wheels not even once =/
Some great tips, a lot of work, but once done, easier in the future, however, I would say dont use a pressure washer, any scratch or chip and the water will be forced under the coating, then the dreaded corrosion will start and lift the surface. After using a good cleaner, a sponge and hot soapy water is all that is needed or just a hose pipe, watched this as am looking to get a new set of alloys and always wanted the inner bit to be clean....
I don't see what staring at the wheel has to do with what I was saying. A curing time of an hour between coats means you can not finish in less than an hour without a time travel device.
Nice Job! Cool Music! Great Results! I usually use Mothers on my Gold Wing but will look into this product and process. Thanks for taking time to share.
This would probably be a good way of doing it here in Canada. A lot of people have both winter tires and rims and a set of summer tires and rims. When the summer ones come off, would be a good time to clean the wheels like this. And vice versa.
I clean the wheels when I change to / from winter tires - not to same degree as this video (claying the wheels is way beyond my humble efforts), but certainly a clean / quick polish
Putting an alloy rim face down onto concrete will just scratch the fuck out of it. First lesson they teach you when you learn to fix tyres as a mechanic.
Why? If you apply a nano-protection or a wax the mechanical decontamination is necessary. The protection needs a decontaminated and deep cleaned surface for a good result.
+Nineunbuffed There's a reason why this effect of iron remover is called "Bleeding" ;-). Try it sometimes on the side panels of a real filthy white car - makes it look like an aftermath of shotgun action.
+Kevin Olesik Its the inside of your wheel who even looks at that lol. I wash mine inner wheel but I'm not pulling them off the car to do it. I do wax the outside of the wheel though.
Some people have open spoke designs where you have to actually clean the entire wheel. People that detail find this sort of thing satisfying. If it doesnt make sense to you then thats fine. Its not like you need to do this very often anyways. Once or twice a year on a daily driven car with regular cleanings in between is fine to keep build up down.
Someone who thinks like i do .. FINALY :D .. its not about if its needed .. its about if it makes the person doing it feel good .. its a pride thing for me personaly .. to me its " you are what you drive "

I would love to be able to take the time to do this... Recently used a long brush to clean the barrel for the first time, and all that did was make it clear how contaminated it was.
+MrBijeloplavi Most low-profile tires have a lip that sticks out beyond the wheel to keep it safe from curbs and such, which is why he was able to lay his down like that. I have the same sort of thing on my tires as well.
+Mazen Mourad, I know that, I also have low-profile tires. But, it is something that you just don't do. Some alloy wheels are slightly protruding outwards between the edge and center of the wheel and it will scratch if you do that. (Srry if my english is bad).
+MrBijeloplavi No you're absolutely right. I was just saying in his case it didn't matter and maybe it would have been appropriate to put an annotation in saying that.
Greg Anagnostopoulos Exactly right Greg. I remove my rims, clean and wax the back side twice a year even though I wax the car 4 times a year. I also use my tire shine on the inner plastic wheel wells while the tire is off. Looks better than the day I picked it up from the dealership even though my car is now 6 years old.
Joe Ruggiero When you trade it in all that work will get you exactly $00.00 more on the trade, and your girlfriend (if you have one) will think you're nucking futs to spend all that time on wheels when you could be spending time with her. She won't be able to tell the slightest difference between the OCD cleaning regimen and going through an automatic car wash.
Brian Tracy It's not what you get out of it, your car is an extension of your personality. I personally wouldn't date anyone who'd drive a dirty daewoo(and had money/possibility to drive something nicer and cleaner).
In the UK this is called detailing, what you class as detailing for the most part is called valeting here, detailing is reserved for the high end high DETAIL work.
A very nice result! A very cheap way to clean the wheels is this way: Use a soapsuds with water and detergent powder to clean them when you dont have this gel.
Wow!!! Dude below said OCD?? No, it's called taking your time and caring about your work. outstanding job man!

I just bought some Iron X, some Auto Finesse Mint Rims Wheel Wax and a clay bar. Thanks for the inspiration! For all of you saying it takes too long, it's good exercise! You'll be starving after doing this.
places rim face down on ground... scratches front, of rim... so much for cleaning
Michael Elliott
Cringed so badly when I saw the thumbnail for the video.
Simply Cleaning Products
Seen that too, he had to have a towel or such under it that's unseen, guaranteed without we would have seen a screwed up rim after he showed the front!
+Justi fied I have yokohama S Drive tires, impossible for the rim to touch the ground has a rim guard on side of tire that will hit before ur rim does, as I am sure he also has.
looks like the came fresh from the factory lol. nice job
Great job and effort.
I'm not to sure about having 4oz of wheel weights. Either the rims where made crappy or the tires need to be replaced with something better.
Claude Rains Best comment so far. I wished I had a prize for you.
YELLOW SKUNK
naked ladies
Claude Rains looks like 4 pounds
Claude Rains - I think these are some cheap tires, takes more weights to balance them.
4 hours to clean one wheel ? I am glad you didn't change the gearbox. Man are you for real?
Screw all the negeative comments from the trolls. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to clean up our alloys. Free advice greatly appreciated. Thanks dude.
This is the kind of guy that makes you take your shoes off before getting in the car.
the next day, it gets all dirty again. let's start the process over
it's more about stopping the build up. getting heaps of dust and dirt in the rims and going 100-120k doesn't feel too good somedays
Nooooooo
After a thorough clean the wheels are much easier to clean afterwards. Dont need to go through the same process.
Oddly satisfying to watch but I don't have time to do this, especially not on four wheels. Great results though.
Great job Lorenzo, You've given me the steps to clean up my wheels. Thank you.
BMW don't clean wheels like this nobody does. you can clean mine any day!! awesome job!!!
Here's a tip, don't put your wheels face down on the concrete. Throw down a towel or blanket first.
Bro some rims don't touch the concrete because of the tires they have!!! Stop telling this guy he know..
Jaziel Hernandez You can see at 7:19 clearly these rims would touch the ground. Not to mention the fact that rocks exist.
+Jaziel Hernandez Dont put the rims with the face to the ground, they maybe get some scratches!
+K Bean Yep good tip I always use a big piece of cardboard
+Marc D I use 2 2×4 so the rim is lifted off the ground
Why is that with all you people criticizing this guy who tries his own way to show you how to properly clean his car wheels and not scratching them. I bet most of you do not even do it at all and just say i can do it better faster and more efficient. Then prove it upload your video and post it here so we can see how you do it and stop criticizing someone else.
Fuck man, I was interested in the video but come on with that slow ass depressing song, I could barely keep my eyes open. You spent like 2 entire minutes just showing us he wheel with the red stuff all over it and that creepy song in the background hypnotizing me lol
A lot of old rims in japan sold with this quality of cleaness.
i used to be this neurotic about my cars cleanliness, untill i sold it for a beater. now i live with less stress and worry and it feels so great. good for u tho taking pride in ur ride
F3
Josue Guzman I wouldn't say it's "Only real carguys," who do this sort of thing. Not all car guys care this much about their wheels.
Josue Guzman If you paid only 1500 for your "rims" and tires you're not a car guy, you're just OCD. A car guy understands that decent tires and light wheels cost bank and make all the difference in handling.
berzerkrobot i got the rims used off my buddy and i got the tires new, they were about 1200 by them selfs
berzerkrobot Sorry. Ignore this. I misread your post.
I think your wheels are cleaner than most peoples interiors I see when I do repairs for customers. lol
OCD
IT'S his wheels his money his time and HIS PASSION..well done.
Nice job! This is definitely for a show car. A daily car is not worth the sweat. I do like the ironx. Great idea.
Video is great. But one thing isnt good - putting your wheel on asphalt like that.
Depends. If the tire is wider than the rim, it really doesn't matter. Judging by the subtle bulge, looks like he is fine.
Ryan Magladry No, you just don't do that. Always place the rim on some kind of protection. A rubber mat is my personal favourite. Easy to clean afterwards
Ryan Magladry you cant know how the asphalt truly lays better to use something that will minimise the chance of scuffing and scratching... something that gets reinforced when you work in a fast fit centre but I do know what you mean :)
there are two Fs in the word "off".
After using a good cleaner, a sponge and hot soapy water is all that is needed or just a hose pipe, watched this as am looking to get a new set of alloys and always wanted the inner bit to be clean....
this is the reason why some guys cars are immaculate and then there is the rest of you
Yup, A little OCD helps.
a.k.a Storm Morris atleast my wheels don’t have scratches from the concrete lol
Tell him to keep it inside his living room , the streets are too dirty for them tires . lol
Damn if only i had the time to do that lol
Only takes about 20-30 minutes per wheel. An hour total if you do two at a time. Not that long really. And it's worth every minute!
***** Unfortunately, with a wax curing time of "1-2-3hours" as said in the video, it would be impossible to do this in 30 minutes per wheel.
everyone has time to do that if they really want to :)
JaMiskater true especially during summer :D but does take a longgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg time D:
I don't see what staring at the wheel has to do with what I was saying. A curing time of an hour between coats means you can not finish in less than an hour without a time travel device.
Why did i watch this? i dont even have a car!
lol try ur bike then
...
...
so yes :D
same here
you don't own a car... yet
Nice Job!
I clean the wheels when I change to / from winter tires - not to same degree as this video (claying the wheels is way beyond my humble efforts), but certainly a clean / quick polish
that tire looks cleaner then most of people faces
shit who have you been running into? lol
Ohhhhhhh burnnn
Claying the inside of the wheels is just a complete waste of time.
Not if you go to car shows. But I see what a day driver would see this as a waste of time.
Because?
Putting an alloy rim face down onto concrete will just scratch the fuck out of it. First lesson they teach you when you learn to fix tyres as a mechanic.
Nerfern That doesn't mean claying the inside of the wheels is inherently dumb. It just means he did it in a dumb way.
Why? If you apply a nano-protection or a wax the mechanical decontamination is necessary. The protection needs a decontaminated and deep cleaned surface for a good result.
If you start at 0:53 this looks like a hot to video for covering up a murder. Just saying.
+Nineunbuffed There's a reason why this effect of iron remover is called "Bleeding" ;-). Try it sometimes on the side panels of a real filthy white car - makes it look like an aftermath of shotgun action.
ha rite with the music and all
Lol ikr
Awesome, Great job! Fancy stuff comes with a lot of work. If its yours enjoy it. Dont get broke by paying someone to do the job!
Great job, I caution that one should not lay your wheels face down unless you are sure the face will not contact the pavement.
Hope this dude brushes his teeth the same way. --- This is some detail boy.
lmfaooo
Christon Jones Price is 494 grand Marquis's airbags
Lol bro, where do u plan to drive when ur finished, inside the house?
Is that a little crack in that wheel,....?
and then the instant you drive it all that work goes to waste.
+Bigbacon no, its about the protection layer that remains from the wax ... keeps the grunge off the true surface
+Kevin Olesik and it makes it a lot easier to clean because the dirt can't stick to the wax
+Kevin Olesik Its the inside of your wheel who even looks at that lol. I wash mine inner wheel but I'm not pulling them off the car to do it. I do wax the outside of the wheel though.
not if you put a polisher and wheel wax on it.
SoloGamingG1 I'm 40 years old never waxed a car or paid to have one waxed in my life.
Funny I see a lot of comments saying the music is bad. I was actually thinking this is one of the few RUclips videos with music that is bearable.
attention to detail ... Captured, i like it well done
Only useful when selling rims, or before a show.
+Gonzalo Tapia yes !
not even worth it when selling a car...
FINALY :D .. its not about if its needed .. its about if it makes the person doing it feel good .. its a pride thing for me personaly .. to me its " you are what you drive "

why would you flip your wheels on concrete like that
and that's one wheel guys
thought i would see the rims back on the car after cleaning it, i was looking forward to but awesome video sir
I would love to be able to take the time to do this...
Recently used a long brush to clean the barrel for the first time, and all that did was make it clear how contaminated it was.
Nope.... If I did this I would surely have an accident the next day.
Yeah ! Or a serious rain storm hits like an hour later. LOL
Or a drunk slams into your ass and totals the car.
+e RichSr The rain storm doesn't matter, you would only need a quick wash after that.
e RichSr ai ower
Your all right
🤪🤪🤪🤪 damn unlucky
You MUST NEVER lay outside of the wheel on the asphalt or concrete! Unforgivable mistake for someone who shows others how to do something.
+Mazen Mourad, my tought exactly, he should mention it :)
+Mazen Mourad well then you dont have enough offset on your wheels and arent tucking properly lol. horrible
Easier to paint the wheels black or buy a new car when they get dirty.
I sotac "My rims are dirty, time to spend another 30k"
I sotac black wheels are gay as fuck. From 30 feet away they just look some hoopty missing hubcaps.
Very tedious but it looks like you've done a great job. Very useful for show cars, indeed.
Rim looks splendid. Time well spent. X4.
This method is for people that do not work and have a tremendous amount of time on they're hands.
Greg Anagnostopoulos You can do 4 wheels in an afternoon, it's all about priorities and interest.
ThePucko97 Hello there Mr. Felix Unger.
that is alot of weight to balance a tire
Uniroyal tires.
Save on the wax and get better tires.
I noticed that as well.
You're CLAYING and WAXING the BACKSIDE of your wheels??? Are you going to polish the top of your gas tank, too?
In the UK this is called detailing, what you class as detailing for the most part is called valeting here, detailing is reserved for the high end high DETAIL work.
Great vid Lorenzo. Exactly what I was looking for.
A very nice result! A very cheap way to clean the wheels is this way: Use a soapsuds with water and detergent powder to clean them when you dont have this gel.
