  • This week Zach answers one of our most frequently asked questions; How to properly install a pressure sensor in your EMU Black. These same methods apply to the EMU Classic, but the terminal locations may differ, so please refer to the laminated pinout card included with your ecu.

    When doing these videos at the end of it you should also show the Setup in the EMU using either setup wizard or manual calibration.
    good video on the wiring side.

      There will be a separate series on EMU setup procedures

     can I use 2 sensor ground wires in one EmuBlack sensor ground pin?

    does it matter what kind of oil pressure sensor is used for the ecu? I'm gonna use a 2 wire big sensor thing that is normaly used for a gauge. is the ecu down with that signal?

      That style sensor is not recommended.

      @@ECUMasterUSA thanks, then im gonna get a proper one. I assume i can split a wire from that for the gauge?

    Two questions.
    1. Do you guys provide a volt to pressure scalar? Or do we need to calibrate it ourselves? I Im not running an ECUMaster ECU, but would like to use this sensor.
    2. Is it safe to mount this directly to a fuel rail? Or should it be mounted remotely isolating it from the engine?

      All pressure sensors are linear from .5v to 4.5v, this info is included with the sensor.

    Not trying to be petty but why does the kit come with only 4 terminals when you need 6 for a clean install?

    • @ECUMasterUSA
      @ECUMasterUSA  2 месяца назад +1

      The sensor itself has a connector with 3 positions, we include 4 terminals so you have a spare in case of a mistake during installation. The EMU Classic and EMU Black both come with a full set of connectors and terminals, so you should already have terminals for the ECU side or can purchase those separately.

      @ECUMasterUSA Thanks! I purchased an EMU Classic almost a decade ago so those got lost I guess. I'll buy some more.

    You said you can double up on the sensor ground, can it also double up on the 5v ?

      He said you can splice multiple 5 volts into 5v pins, I have ran out of sensor grounds and I’m also wondering if I can splice another ground into a sensor ground pin that is already in use?

    You mention it's OK to double up on sensor grounds. What is the best way to connect the two wires?

      We are actually making an entire how-to series to educate about making proper crimps, grounds, and splices.

    Should analog pressure sensors use shielded wiring?

    • @HugoDrsnt
      @HugoDrsnt 3 года назад +1

      no, I recommend shielding cables for the top dead center sensor, the phase and the knock sensor

      Engine harnesses typically use 22AWG wire. you can also use 20AWG (overkill).
      If you are going to splice many wires into one feed then you can crimp your multiple 22awg wires to a single larger AWG wire *if desired* which would then go to the single pin that connects to your emu etc.

      Like bjorn said... for those wires you need minimal size, just make sure you are using good quality wire from a supplier like pro wire usa
