This is so helpful. As someone who is just getting started and wanting to do a lot of hip hop mixing this is huge. Especially when most beginner tutorials are using house music/ techno. Thank you!
Tap In... GOD. he echo out previous track to mix tap in. Wtf? Echo out? Really? Echo out sucks, bro. Just it only with different bpm and jenres. In this case he could just use drop mixing.
Straight thumbs up for this! Coming from a House and Techno background to trying to learn Open Format and this has helped massively! Big respect to all the open format DJs out there
I am completely African Urban naija, dancehall and hip-pop. But I guess I can learn House music mixing from you... I haven't played in Europe yet that's my challenge maybe😊
I'm happy to have come across this video. I feel like I've developed some of these skill naturally with the help of crossfader videos. But now I have more confidence in them seeing a pro use them.
I been a DJ since 04 and last few year got into mixing, and this has by far has been the best tutorial. No talk and stopping to explain, simple visual explaining. Thank you
Never DJ’d ever! I live in an area where the bars/clubs play techno/edm rap song remixes. It’s quite literally dog shit. Coming from LA, and the clubs I went to, play hip hop/rap/r&b I loved it. I Lowkey jus wanna bring that vibe to the clubs/bars where I am now. Thank you for this demonstration 👍🏼👍🏼
@@jimmymcgill5572 Thanks for asking! It's been really good. I've met new friends and they all are dj-ing for a few years so I'm learning a lot of new things!
This channel. And this video specifically has helped me a lot in my first year of DJing. This is one of the first videos I saw when I first got my DJ gear a little over a year ago. I keep returning to the beginner videos I already watched to see how I've progressed. I find I worry way too much about key, mainly because I like to scratch in my intro with the fader up and the eqs lowered. You did that a few times but you did more fade ins. I just wonder if I should build on my style of scratching in most intros, or if I am being annoying by doing it too much. In the beginning. In my mind I was thinking that was a good way to kinda let the crowd know a new song is coming in. Sometimes it works fantastic, sometimes not so much. But because I tend to do that, I worry a lot more about what key my song is in, and sometimes it affects my song selection when really I could just quickly fade in or do a hard drop on the next song. As a rookie at first, I felt like slamming the next song in was too easy lol. I gotta stop over thinking this stuff. I'm a music fanatic, why I got into DJing. Before DJing I hosted and still host karaoke nights and if there are no singers I played music (but not from DJ gear) and people telling me how good I was at picking songs was the reason I got into DJing. But all the extra information makes me want to follow a formula that often doesn't leave me picking the same songs I used to pick organically to get people dancing in between karaoke songs. Such a weird transition. I have a Rane One now and I love DJing. But all of the manual music organization has taken the spontaneity out of my music sense. It's a weird dilemma, I feel like most people start learning how to mix with dj equipment...and THEN learn their music and it leads to a different philosophy of how they choose their music. I already know music. So much so that it is overwhelming....then my sets end up feeling like cluster-fs to me because I'm picking songs based on mixability alone lol. Argh! I'll get there I just gotta keep workin. I need to stop overthinking it. I also need to put my big boy pants on and organize my crates by VIBE instead of just genre, year bpm, and energy(as dictated by mixed in key).
I think it's the most important as a DJ to check out the vibe from the party/event where you are DJ'ing. At the end of the day I think the music is the most important and the transition comes second. So stop worrying and play some nice music for the people!
As a bedroom DJ who mixes House,Techno and DNB definitely looking to branch out to other genres. Gonna learn Hip-Hop/Rap and then learn reggaeton down the road. As much as I love electronic music you do get bored if you don’t learn James Hype tricks or else the hobby gets boring 😅
Think just made me decide to get into djing/mixing. First I Thought I wanted to produce electronic music. Messed around with that for a bit, learned a lot, made a couple songs. I just never really felt like I was enjoying it. Much respect to the good music producers that are actually doing sound design and all that because it can be super tedious and time consuming. Djing on the other hand looks like it will be fun as hell once I get past over the initial learning curve. Like just doing that mix in the video looks so much fun.
I will have to say, after some practical learning without video guidance, then going back to watching technique videos like this, it's definitely makes a lot more sense to me. Thanks for the great video!
Preparing for the weddings and hitting mental song blocks aka writer's block, after all this year I have been practicing but bedroom back to the club, if you will, is totally different. Lol, Like ridding a bike just pick up and go. Thanks this was inspirational.
I think djn the type of music u listen to is the easiest because you understand how the songs work .... i could never do a techno set .... i can do old school hip hop rnb n new rap so essy just by understanding what songs are hype n keep everone rocking mix in a lil reggae some new jack swing party rocking all night n a couple popular line dance songs floor will be filled all night

Nah, man. These techniques suck. Rockstar changed bpm 6+%. + no harmonic mixing. Shit.
Tap In... GOD. he echo out previous track to mix tap in. Wtf? Echo out? Really? Echo out sucks, bro. Just it only with different bpm and jenres. In this case he could just use drop mixing.
@@iamnvrmnd he just cant mix at all he didnt even touch the eqs just filters lol
As much I love house, techno, and rap I still think rap is the most difficult to seamlessly mix
Try mixing trap, grime together seamlessly at different b.p.m its Sooo easy

Good DJing doesn't need to be complicated. Well done as usual. Also nice track selection. Love it.
love this
Thank you. This is about at my level for mixing. It lets me know I'm on the right track and to keep progressing.
It’s better to rely on your ears rather than looking at Serrato.
@@lonzo1169 doesn’t make a difference anymore, because Serato will always be there, it’s not the 90s
