    I can't believe I came across people like you !!! I am already one step ahead in my attempt to install a rear camera ... frankly I have a parking assist and I want to install a camera to work with it ... what do I need to do this .. cable modules cameras ... (I have no idea what cables and if modules are needed) and so I will ask you this question my car is a BMW X1 F48 2016 .. what is needed to do it ... honestly I like to deal with it (I put the latest model of bumper that has fog lights that are led ... reports my mistake) ... I live in Greece and it's a little difficult to get along here ... I'm just uniquely pleased to meet you ... I hope to you are in excellent health and I did not bother you with me ... thank you

      HI Valentin, I might be misunderstanding your question, but you have park assist and no cameras? or do you want to install the whole parking assist option with cameras and sensors? It will be our pleasure to help out the best way we can.

      @@ValentinBalkanski So in this case, you need to get the camera and the wiring that goes to the tailgate. in your case it might be a little bit more complex to find the right camera. can you email us with your car vin and we might be able to give you a hand with all you might need.

    did you ever figure out what is the pin16for? looks to me as if it is another ground, but I can't find any wiring diagrams on the net...

    Great video, congratulations 😀
    However, I would have the opposite problem, I already have the 6NW option and I would like to remove the accessory, as my phone is about 10mm too long and doesn't fit, so I would have more space in the glove box under the central armrest.
    If I just unplug and remove the charger, is there an electronic problem? For example error messages in diagnosis or instrumentation, or antenna malfunction?
    Thank you

    Great video, thank you so much :) appreciate if you may share any tips/hints/videos to show how to extend the wires below the driver seat from the arm-rest to the trunk? Also, how to extend the wire between the roof antenna and the compensator? Did you bolt the compensator to the chassis or taped it only? Much appreciated :)

      @DorksandBolts  Год назад

      That’s awesome you find the info helpful for your project. To extend the cables I basically pass always new wiring following the main wire loom. I did bolt the compensator to the chassis with the bracket that the compensator goes into

    Hey - thank you very much for the video - I have all the hardware you listed. Very helpful. May I ask one question please, where do the cables connect under the seat? Red - power - black - neutral - and green - I don’t know what green is or where it goes - thank you for taking the time to make such awesome videos :)

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  3 года назад

      Hi Mark, thank you! so if you have the connections under the drivers seat I am assuming that your car is built after 03/2018. In that case the red cable (power) goes to plug X382*2B the one closer to the center of the car, on position 7. The black one goes on the same plug in position 8, and the green one is the "ENABLE" or Actuation signal, which goes to position 9. after that they have to go to the compensator in the back, green goes to compensator, ground goes to the ground comb and red goes to the fusebox. hopefully that will make sense.

    Congrats great video! My problem the factory installed charger in my F31 makes my iphone overheated in the armrest, and hardly charges rather maintaining the battery on same level while carplay is on. Is it something can be fixed?

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  5 месяцев назад

      AFAIK, there are 2 versions of the wireless chargers, the earlier versions would cause overheating, the ones made after 2017 do not, they take a long time to charge. Also make sure your screen is off while on the charger. These are my personal experiences and what I have read online. I don’t think there is an official fix.

    Great video! I've just bought a 4g mimo shark fin & LTE amp as an upgrade to my e70. I retrofitted an nbt evo ID6 and removed the combox. The LTE amp is to connect to a passive repeater aerial inside my car. Do you think I need to connect it to the canbus wiring? Thanks.

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  3 года назад

      Hi, I don’t think it would be needed since the canbus doesn’t really do anything to this unit, maybe it sends the signal to tell you that you forgot the phone in the charger. But I haven’t been able to figure that out.

    What a great video. Thank you for doing this. I am carrying out this retrofit on my F32, and would like to know if you can provide the bmw part numbers for the coaxial connectors and the coaxial socket (the one at the rear of the armrest behind the heating vents into which the coaxial cable from the wirless charger in the armrest goes). Many thanks regardless great video.

    • @DorksandBolts

      The coaxial connectors were found on eBay with: "Fakra Female / Male Crimp Solder Connector for RG316 RG174 C" BMW does not sell you those, so I had to get creative on that.

    Hi Friend! And where did you connect the antenna wire (purple) coming from the compensator?

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  4 года назад

      Hi Vladislav, the antenna wire goes to the roof antenna, (sharkfin) you will have a purple connector available, but it does depend of your country and options in the car. If you have a newer car like a 2016 the ATM module will be directly attached to the antenna and in that case there will be a plug on that module.

    • @TheVladislavsky
      @TheVladislavsky 4 года назад

      And I also wanted to ask about the compensator. There are two types of Active (ECE) and Passive. What's the difference? Which one should I take?

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  4 года назад

      @@TheVladislavsky so the LTE is just a signal booster, the difference between regions is to look for frequencies that Europe or US/CAN operate. as for the Active or passive I think it also depends if they scan the airwaves for better signal or just wait until the signal is good enough.

      Hi Sebastian, this pretty much depends on your budget. You can source one directly from the dealer or eBay, if you are doing this with a tight budget. It takes longer but you can save a lot of money. Also if you have access to a local junkyard or part out on Facebook marketplace can be of interest. Also other online stores like esctuning or schmiedmann are good places to start. We hope this helps.
