Wireless chargers are good backup if you don’t have a cord, but hardwire is still the way to go, faster charge, can charge while the phone is being used in your hands and etc. I have a 20W plug for my 12V and it charges the phone so fast it makes the wireless charger in my 440 seem ancient. Great video tho as usual😃👍🏽
I think it's personal preference. Wireless can fast charge too, and I prefer not having the wire dangling around my car. Besides, you shouldn't be using the phone while driving

It looks like the tray cover is attached tot the console piece, so I doubt it unless I'm missing something having watched both this video and the one on the company's website.
@@TheAfterPein the lid on the pre LCI models is not attached on the console, you put it on top of the cup holders and then you remove it to use the cup holders, so the question was if you can reuse the same lid with this mod
Definitely not fast charge compatible. It's a slow charge, but it's convenient. Also, if you use iPhone, it won't work well. Apple added that Circular Magnet in back of their phones for the MagSafe wireless chargers and that interferes with wireless charging like this. I learned this the hard way AFTER installing the mod. But, passengers that use older iPhones or Android phones get to use it. 😅

I am on the same boat with my 430i. I love I can use my phone to start my car or the card. But, I would love to use the wireless feature. I bought a wireless adapter and put it in the console as a wireless for the meantime till I can do this to my g22. Hopefully, I’ll still be able to use the phone and/or card to turn on the car without my key. Makes it easier for me when I go lakes or beaches.
This is something I might to get now. I have the redline with my a mag safe charger to it. Any idea what I should use the redline thing even after buying that?
I did this mod on a 2017 F30 last year, and it seems that it doesn't work all the time on newer iPhones thanks to apple's magnet on the back of the phone.
I'm a bit confused by their compatibility list. I have a 2016 F30 328i, and they cut off at 2015... but they support the 320i up to 2019. I thought the 320 and 328 were essentially the same console design, so not sure why the 328 support doesn't go to 2019
Didn’t they change from the 328 to 330 between 2015-2016? That’s when the change from 335i to 340i happened. Maybe there was some overlap in 2016 and this company’s spec sheet didn’t capture that. I assume it would work in your car.
When new cars are introduced to the market, the model year is always released in the preceding year. The 2016 328i LCI was released in 2015 with the 2016 model year. Difference between 330i and 328i is primarily due to one using the b48 engine vs the n20. There was overlap when the newer b48 was introduced.
2 problems: 1) Wireless charging is slow especially if you have a phone cover as most do. 2) Phones get bigger every year so within a few years your phone cant fit flat in the charging space making it useless.
Yeah, the price is a bit steep. I have a Chinese wireless charger that replaces the pad in the cubby area. It ran me $80 and worked well, until my phone got a bit too large for it. Now it slides off easily and the phone doesn't hit that "sweet spot" for charging. I was interested in this, but not at 2.5 times the price

Nice upgrade! The question is, is it compatible with the original “cup holder tray cover” of the pre LCI models?
I'm guessing not because the cupholders space is smaller, also I'm pretty sure Bryan would show a cleaner look with the lid on

Your car must be a 2015, as Harix said lci came in 2016 and that replaced the 328 with the 330
