I've not got this particular screen but I've had two "Ksw" Android ones (the better of all the custom Androids) and my experience is that the in-built DSP is a bit crap. Audio is a bit less quality, specifically the lows and highs, and the volume is less than if you were to play through AUX from your phone - so I've always ran the unit's audio through USB to an external DAC and it's noticeably better (I use the "Creative Sound Blaster G3").
For that gen its a great upgrade, ui could do with some tweaks but overall very decent, not sure who wants OEM tech from one of these cars, the unit just brings it up to date.😊

Hey mate. Been eyeing one up for my X5. Cool to finally see a review. Would you mind doing a video of the native android features? Would be helpful for those not going to use android auto ect
I would never go xtrons again. Had one in my last car, Bluetooth and wifi would always lose connection even with phone right beside it. Biggest waste of money I ever spent on an upgrade
I know this is the E90/92 version, but I was thinking of getting the 14.9 inch. But the one I need is the one that replaces the stock nav, and it seems to tilt down a lil bit. I was wondering if you have any experience with that one to tell me if it’s adjustable at all to tilt it upward a lil. 🙏🏽 Thanks.
Looks a little wide for my taste but still cool. The sound quality of the upgrade I have is the issue for me and why I want to swap it out. The audio sound truncated or like there is ducking.
Being someone that works for an in car tech company I can honestly say that I spend more time removing these units than installing them, I even (being a huge tech fan) decided to install an Android unit into my partners VW Golf because I wanted to give one a fair shout, and I removed it in favour of the shite oem after just 1 week because we both hated it! We couldn’t get on with the Chinglish text you find dotted about the unit, the audio quality was ass, the and the amount of times it froze while driving was just ridiculous! One thing I will say about these Android aftermarket units is that if Android worked well for car infotainment then why aren’t the big companies like Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer etc using it?!! It’s too unreliable at present! That being said, the one I had and the ones i remove haven’t/don’t have the newest versions of Android on them, so maybe units with the newest software are better. My advice would be to ask the owners clubs for their experience with them before you buy and go from there, and of course if you’re car came from the factory fitted with an oem potato with no twatnav, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto then even these will be a huge upgrade.
Everything you've experienced hasn't happened with these Xtrons units. The brand matters. Like you said, maybe the ones you tested were just early models and they've been refined over the years.

Cool, but in 10 years time, it will just be another bit of superseded tech. There might not even be screens. Maybe a heads-up display inside our eyes, only we can see. I'm in a car to drive, not look at screens. We're not allowed to text when driving, but am allowed to fiddle with things that take our eyes off the road & use our fingers, for just as long or longer than a phone. It takes 3x menus to change the climate controls on my mates mk8 Golf R. Taking about 10 seconds, for something that took 1 second for the past 50 years. Progress? I like physical buttons and dials. But it's all secondary to actual driving. BMW are meant to be "the ultimate driving machine", not the ultimate in home entertainment. Have yourself a giant screen in the lounge, not in the car. This one is just too big, and I think is far too distracting & in the driver's line of vision. Hell, I just changed my oem silver interior door handles to black carbon fibre, cos they distracted my peripheral vision.
