LG producing new tandem oled for laptops.LG claims that tandem panels can hit over three-times the brightness of standard OLED panels. Tandem panels consume up to 40% less power.
Who cares about brightness. 600 and its good.
Lifespan is more of a factor that tandem really improves

I bought both and the surface pro oled just isn’t better enough than the surface laptop. The laptop is way easier to deal with on the move and the 120hz, brightness, pixel density 6+ hr extra battery life, thinner bezels, lack of screen door effect, heat dissipation, and overall affordability is just better. If you’re an artist buy an iPad Pro
All I would want on the Laptop is a better coated screen and the web camera from the Surface Pro. The camera on the Laptop isn’t bad, but this one is obviously miles better. A comparison between the 13 and the 15 would be great!

I can only assume it’s due to the higher resolution on the Surface Pro

I don't have a issue with the price because last years keyboard works if you don't want to spend that much. If that wasn't the case it would be bs.
Got one from bestbuy bundle keyboard+pen promos for like 85 bucks, there are cheaper options and that's point you get to choose unlike the fruit company.
U can use any good wireless mechanical keyboard. Good thing they havent bundled it with surface pro

I am so excited for these Surface devices. Typing this comment on my laptop 7. I am putting my iPad 11 up for sale today, as Apple is so restricted, and I am enjoying Windows again.

Thanks for this video. Is the OLED display a 10-bit panel? And is the display comparable/as good as the one on the iPad Pro M4?
Comprehensive as always.
They seemed to knock it out of the park.
THe only challenge the surface had was power and battery life. I could live with the IPS screen as it was really good, and the speakers have always been good.
Now they have 12hrs instead of 3 and the power doesn't throttle.
The only thing I am wondering about is USB-4 vs Thunderbolt.
What is the main difference here.
It seems to mean there is no external GPU usage (how many people are doing that regularly) and no Thunderbolt docking use so if you have a thunderbolt dock as many do have - you are out of luck.
Do I have that right.
That seems to be the only real downer.
I have the SP 9 and I long to throw just the device in my bag and leave the house.
With the SP11 I could do that.
With my SP9 I cannot.
I don't know if it will have turned on in my backpack and lost half the battery before I reach where I am going.
Usually, it doesn't and I can usually squeeze at least 4 hours out of it.
The issue is that I just don't know and it is not consistent.
I would love to know that no matter what, on a full charge - I have 10hours use.
I will never be away for 10 hours.
If anyone was on the fence about the Surface Pro 11 all you need to do is watch this thorough review by Andrew! There's a lot of potential here and I would definitely get this in a heartbeat. Expensive proposition it is but if you can afford it, I'd say go for it. Screen burn-in in 2024 should be a non-issue so I wouldn't let that deter you from getting an OLED display. I love that it is super bright, great webcam quality as well as internal mics. The AI effects are a nice add on with a long lasting battery life. In conclusion, I really don't see any negatives here except maybe the price which may throw off some potential buyers. Other than that and as I have a already said, it's a great product from Microsoft and worth your consideration! Brilliant review once again Andrew!! 👏😁

Great review as always Andrew! It is great to see good webcams finally coming to the convertibles and laptops, courtesy of dedicated ISPs on Snapdragon chips. I hope the same makes it way to Intel and AMD chips as well. I would love to see next Snapdragon chips paired with a dedicated GPU.

Personally the OLED isn’t worth it IMO, and the X Elite is also not really a massive improvement on top of the X Plus. The power play is to buy the entry model (ideally with the discount) and upgrade the SSD yourself.
The upgrades are at Apple-level pricing but the entry level LCD is a hell of a deal. I can’t really feel any difference in web dev work between the X Plus, M1 Pro or M3 Pro MacBooks (both MacBook 14” version - using ARM native toolchain on both)
Thank Andreo for the great efforts as usual. What i didnt like in the surface is the reflective screen only I liked too much the M4 ipad the non-reflective version. That one is greater for art works and drawing under room lights

I would be interested in the Surface Laptop 7 15" if it had OLED. I have upgraded all devices to OLED and cannot go back.
the webcam is really nice in this one. so disappointing when manufacturers put a potato in, glad to see this is not the case here.
It’s just hard to beat the surface laptop even though its not Oled. The Pixelsense screen is still pretty damn good and you don’t get the screen door effect.

I bought surface pro 9 in April and in June, after just 2 months it started to flash microsoft logo and nothing more, that's all it does. so apparently Microsoft is famous for bios problem after automatic update it happens. very dissapointed, I love the design and since apple doesn't offer something like this. it was my first and last microsoft product.
Only a 9 on the webcam? I thought mic and webcam where superb.
I'm wondering if you have possibly already started on a review for the ASUS PZ13 (based on your Computex video you were intending to do one)? Definitely looking forward to what you and others think of that device, and how useful it is with only 16GB of RAM.

My concern is how does running a separate 4k or oled screen work with the laptops you review as separate screen? Like the Omen with only 300 nits. Otherwise I'm looking at another $500 to $1000 putting the price tag at $2000 to $2700 for a 16" laptop. I'm 70 this year so budgeting is necessary. I like the Omen 16 for 2023 which surpasses my needs and it's upgradable. But I am worried about the 300nits screen
Can you create a comparison video of Ultra 7 vs Ultra 9 processors? I am getting Asus Vivobook S16 Ultra 7 at 1400 usd and Ultra 9 at 1600 usd. Worth adding extra 200 usd?

Have always loved Surface! The Surface Pro w/ X Elite & OLED looks very promising. The performance per watt is truly impressive! However, the absolute raw performance, including the graphics, just isn't there yet. Decided to get the Surface Laptop Studio 2 w/ RTX 4060, 64GB RAM, & 2TB storage. Found an insane deal w/ $1k off. Cost the same as the top SKU of the Surface Pro 11 w/ 32GB RAM & Flex Keyboard. Not regretting my decision. Hoping the next release of the Pro has a marked step-up in the graphics arena.
Screen door effect is bad, it looks really grainy. Like looking at old tech. Complete garbage for so much money.

Great Video, Whats your thoughts one the Surface pro 11 being your one and Only machine. Including hooking up displays at Work space. Think it can handle a basic work machine?
Yes it certainly can just stick to the basics.
I have one and have yet to find a working Virtual Machine. That would be the only reason for me to return it. I really love the device to be frank, so I'm torn on if I should return it or not.
I have the 32gb RAM version hooked up to a docking station that connects to 38in LG ultra wide and works just fine.

Nice expensive pc. Nice looking with the blue color. Camera and mics are good. Display good. Would like to see it with a full size standard ssd drive instead of this odd miniature ssd. Until full software compatability is achieved with this new processor one might hesitate buying one of these pc's at this time. If you are running software applications that do not currently run on this processor then having longer battery life is not much use for you. In several months down the line these new processors as compatability issues are worked out will outshine the current Intel and Amd processors. Another great quality review.
What is the startup time of your computer?
I just set up my new Surface Pro 11 with Snapdragon X Elite and 16GB RAM. There are no programs or documents installed yet.
When I press the power button, it takes about 30 seconds to reach the Windows PIN screen. Is this normal? On my Surface Pro 8, this time was 15 seconds.

Just my experience… (I have the 32gb version Elite) I’m still seeing quite a bit of heat on the back of it and quite a bit of fan (though quieter). A little bit better battery - not a shocking improvement. Adobe is way behind. I’m trying to use Lightroom Classic and you can clearly tell processing is taking a long time on most tasks. I know it’s emulated. Granted, it’s new and they have some catching up. “Edit in Photoshop” action does not work at all. Tried all kinds of different versions, install order, etc. Just doesn’t work. Not taking it back as I know this will all clear up and I really like the Surface Pro form factor.
Will thunderbolt 3 work with the USB4 connectors? Are they officially compatible?
Yes it should work
It does unless an x86 app that uses the GPU. ARM is not designed for x86 and the translation layer will not bridge it.

There is no SD card slot so you will have to use an adapter
Has there been any programs outside of games that have given you trouble to run?
All the main apps for me work. Only thing not working is Google drive app

I really wanted to try the Surface Pro. Returned my Surface Laptop 7 for the Yoga Pro 9i and i could not be more satisfied.
As long as you can't even run Microsoft's own programs like SQL Express Server, it makes no sense to use arm64 processors!
These notebooks are nothing for gaming, without MS SQL Server they are also useless as work PCs.
Sorry Microsoft, that's not how it works!
If this didn’t have like zero ports I’d actually consider it for music production and on the go editing, but it’s worse than a mac regarding to ports! What gives?

Yeah compared to an iPad Pro with the functionality you get, it’s pretty solid. That, and you can still get the base version with 16GB of ram and upgradable storage for a grand
Apple's Silicon's Single Core performance is still unmatched
M4max will hit 28500 on geekbench6 with a 4000+ single core.
That is definitely unmatched by anything except the new ryzen 9950x desktop
Most modern software uses multicore
Still have concerns for the ARM prosessor compatibility. Wish rhere will be an AMD 370 version would be awesome while I know that microsoft will never do it and I ll never buy this surface for myself 😂
