I have the Surface Pro 11th gen, and I love it. At the moment, it is my only Windows PC. It looks like they sent you the regular keyboard & pen. There is a Bluetooth keyboard with pen that costs an eyewatering $450.00. I've owned the Suface Pro since the 4th gen and ,in my opinion, it is one of the best 2 in one Windows laptops.
I own both Pro 9 and Pro 11. Everything has been upgraded, in terms of performance and speed. BUT, if your device, like mine, powered by ARM64 processor, all previous Intel compatible plugin devices, will all fail. From scanners to webcams, there is no available drivers for older accessories. If you are not plugging any devices to Pro 11, this is THE All-In-One-Productivity Device. It has replaced my iPad ever since. Note that this is not a gaming device, not built to do that.
Never seen this channel before, but this was pretty cool! Dude looks like he's from an alternate universe where Sly Stallone read comic books instead of working out and I'm here for it.
Kensington Black belt case lets you see the kickstand metal, but protects the back. It works with the keyboard and protects the sides. Adds a bit of weight, but very protective at around £40.
Tell you what: Demonstrate the SP11 running a decent DAW with MIDI keyboard controller attached, with no notable latency issues when playing virtual instruments live. This is what I use my SP7 (i7) for. I don't believe the SP11 is capable of handling the workload without notable latency pressing keys on the MIDI controller to trigger various virtual instruments.
I've wondered about this but must be the same for all snapdragon windows pcs. An appropriate driver and software will exist for this purpose at some point but might not be available right now. But since ipads can do this on arm it is clearly possible
I don't care about the surface shell get scratched. It's meant to be. It's there to protect the surface innards. I like my gadgets slightly scratched up and used, not showroom pristine form after a few months of usage. The gadget is meant to be used by me, not to be worshipped, or for the gadget to "use" me to protect it.
My sapphire 11 with blue BT Flex KB with Slim Pen 2 goes in a form-fitting padded case when I'm not using it. I don't take the power supply. In other compartments I have a 24,000 mAh power bank and leads, a 9-way dongle and a compact external SSD . It's very light and portable.
I have $1500-$1800 to spend and I need a laptop that handles streamlabs and streamyard well while doing 3-4 things at once. I wanted to jam to background tracks and sing and edit etc.
What a detailed and helpful review - thanks a lot! One thing interests me about the pen: Is it being charged while being in the keyboard compartment, and if so, is it only charged whith the Surface being powered on? How long does it take to charge it there and how long can you work with it?
I have the 64gb ram version and runs amazing. I use Blender 3d modeling, Sketchbook Pro and Photoshop with zero issues. It's also OLED, no color palette problems but outside it's display doesn't super bright. Also I use UAG case with hand strap so it really feels like I'm drawing directly ona real sketchbook.
@@timbd87 you're right.. They kept that quiet. Maybe australia is so far away that physics behaves differently and they need more ram, a bit like the water spiralling the other way when you flush the loo. 3100 Australian dollars translating as 1500 UK pounds for the 64gb. I'll have to to try and survive with my 16gb model but it seems plenty fast and I got it for £700 oled model. Curious now though what anyone would be doing on a surface that used that much ram
Could you compare it with the Asus proart pz13? I wonder if you factor in the price and fact that standard surface 11 doesn't come with the keyboard what would be your decision.
The ProArt is all around better and it comes with the keyboard which they both click when you bend them.. Battery life smokes the Surface almost by double with a oled screen. The oled screen on the ProArt is beautiful even being only 60hz. You have to spend $100 for either pen Surface or Asus. Plain and simple the Asus is a better buy unless your a label junky and have to have the Microsoft brand. How do I know is because I returned the Surface 11 for the ProArt when BestBuy put the ProArt on sell. I would even get it at full price over the Surface. Go for the Asus ProArt PZ13, you will not bet disappointed..
I think you might have not had the Surface Pro 11 plugged in when you tested it in Geekbench. I tested one today and it got 2049 single core. Perhaps it was a driver or software update.
Photo editing certainly. The fact of having the pen to draw mask or use it in tablet mode to move slider precisely is unique to this form factor. It works very well with Captire One Pro. I use it also with DaVinci Resolve ARM version and it does work fine but obviously this is not the most powerful GPU out there so depends if you do a lot of vieeo editing and this is a key factor for you. For me, nothing beat being able to have such a versatile device doing all in such a small package and the jump in autonomy and thermal management with this new ARM chip is enormous. But it is not of course a gaming machine for video editing professional users
Apparently the color choice means significantly. Only black color has the 64 GB RAM option. I like the gold color but the maximum ram on board is 16 gb.
i was thinking of buying the surface but i don't know if it's the best option for me as i'm studying computer engineering and it may have applications that aren't available.
Would u recommend this over the spectre x360 14t. Its 32gb ram, 1tb, 2.8k oled, i7 ultra 155 ultra w/intel arc graphics going for $1238. I have surface pro 6 and love it but its slowing down and need to upgrade. I'm mainly using Lightroom and some Photoshop but I'm getting more into video work and should like to be able to edit 4k video as well.
Tricky question. It seems with arm versions of the software people are doing video stuff on these. Mine seems super fast in graphics software and working pretty well with 3d software run truth emulation, but if you were mixing into video production with any level of seriousnees it's probably not the surface to get. External gpus would help but are not compatible on Arm yet. The surface is a great controller though and you could remote desktop to something more powerful

Check with the laser company about driver support, it's possible if using these new snapdragon processor windows pcs that there isn't the right drivers to work with plugging them in to other tech. This is where something like the lunar lake laptops like the lenovo aura thing would be better. However, the surface is so versatile and I find the pen is working really well, for editing vector files etc for a laser cutter it would be great. To stop it from getting scratches is to have a laptop case that is soft to the touch on the inside but also on the outside too.

Is it still windows emulated ?? I am sticking with the pro 9 because of intel
10:00 it does have a Bluetooth keyboard you just have to plug it in once to activate it
There are two versions of the keyboard - only the "flex" version has bluetooth functionality (and an own battery).
The flex keyboard cover can be used detached as it uses bluetooth and also has a haptic touchpad.
What a detailed and helpful review - thanks a lot!
