Should you buy cheap -- I MEAN affordable photography/videography gear?

I often hear the word Cheap, inexpensive and affordable used interchangeably. Cheap refers to quality. Inexpensive refers to cost relative to alternatives, Affordable is a specific case based on personal or business finances.
