    Is 37mm the perfect size for a diver? I think it depends on the cut and shape of the case but I was really surprised by how good this is!

    I got the BB54 a few weeks ago. I have a larger wrist and I love the way it feels and how it looks. People are too wrapped up with current fads and how watches should be larger than decades past. Anyone who can afford this watch isn’t really concerned with it being a diver. It’s a flex for sure, but a small bit of the population will actually appreciate mechanical watches for what they are and the art/engineering that goes into them.

    I love mechanical watches. I have a collection of them and I wear them almost daily. I love how the mechanical movements are put together and I love the engineering and the history behind them.
    But, in all honesty. The perfect dive watch is a dive computer, or a cheaper G shock.

    It's sad that watches that look good cost over 1k+. amzwatch watches are REALLY well made, and it just shows how a brand name on a watch can make its price 10x higher. I understand that if you look under a microscope, you'll find the difference, but just how many of you really inspect a watch at that level when you see someone with a watch?

      @@jonebm own both and agree. Both divers, but enough differences they can both reside in the same collection. The Pelagos 39 is an advanced, modern, professional diver, whereas, the black bays focus more on form over function for vintage styling sake - sacrificing many of the ISO requirements needed for a modern diver (e.g crown guards, diver’s extension, legibility, etc).

    What makes it better than the 58 in your opinion?

    • @AwkwardHorology
      @AwkwardHorology  2 месяца назад +4

      Funnily enough I was wearing the 58 for a day this week - and although subjective my thoughts are:
      1) the 37mm size of the 54 wears better on me no doubt!
      2) I prefer the cleaner and non yellow look of the bezel on the 54 to the 58
      3) the clasp on the 54 is class
      4) it feels more vintage inspired than the 58 which for the style of the watch I definitely prefer!
      The 58 is a gorgeous watch without doubt - but the 54 has a different wearing experience for me.

      I tried the 54 and it’s definitely not too small on my 6.5 wrist. I think as a 1 watch collection the 54 is perfect. However, if you have a multiple watch collection, you may want something with a little more spicey because for all its goodness, the 54 is a bit boring looking watch at least when compared to the 58. Unlike the 54, the 58 is not an exact replica of back catalog Tudor, it is its own thing. The gilted bezel adds a nice warmth and harmony with the gold on the dial, the red triangle harkens back to the Rolex/Tudor Big Crown and serves to break up the monotony of the watch. I also find the more refined coin edge bezel and matching crown very elegant. It is a very special watch that isn’t an exact replica.

      The marine master doesn’t have crown guards either…I have the SLA053 US special edition black and blue which I’m in love with as my only Seiko now. That goes with my Tudor Ranger as my main two watches…I agree the marine master is the real deal when it comes to divers on the market these days and it’s so unique. When I saw the black Zaratsu finishing and prismic blue face of the SLA053 I knew it was the marine master I had to have as mine.

      How can it be a homage brand if they made a modern version of their original model of 1954 the Submariner 7922. It’s the same brand releasing their own models. Not some microbrand copying models and using designs of another brand, that’s homage. Not this. If you think this is homage, then Omega is homage too, releasing new versions of their speedmaster every year.
