Tudor Black Bay 54 - Keep or Sell?

- I recently sold off over half of my watch collection to be able to afford a Tudor Black Bay 54, but have I made a big mistake? Is this watch a keeper? Or is it going to be making it's way back onto eBay?

If you’re considering to sell, then you bought the wrong watch in the first place. A watch should be a well thought out purchase, one you will not regret later down the road. Don’t buy because of hype, but because you like everything about it, the strap/bracelet, dial, hands, details, size, brand and so on. It should be near perfect and should match with your outfits and daily routines.
I would keep. It one of those watches that are a "one and done", or "strap monsters'. This one is a perfect 37mm size, thin profile, and a 20mm lug width. It looks like a vintage watch w/out trying to look like one. Great looking faux rivet bracelet, this is the only Tudor where the rivet bracelet works. The price, yes expensive, but for a luxury watch it punches well above the retail price. The versatility of this Tudor puts it up there with more expensive watches like an Explorer, Speedy and a few others. Cheers, enjoy your BB 54
Beautiful vid! I love my FXD but I think the BB54 will be the first Black Bay that I’m not going to sell. The proportions look great, there’s the right amount of guilt, the silver bezel without the red triangle at 12 works better and the lollipop seconds hand with the counterbalance is perfect. One can never have enough Tudors. They need to re-release the Oyster Prince in the US/UK markets.
Great video. I think a hair too small for me (my BB58 is pushing it, I have a 7.5” wrist), but it’s a gorgeous watch, and a refinement in what they started with the Black Bay line. I love the new lollipop seconds hand, the new crown, and the T-Fit.

Great call on the decision to keeping it - it’s THE perfect watch. You will love it even more as years pass by. Don’t get sucked into the youtube hype to own the next best thing. I have been wearing my BB54 everyday since past 14 months and I absolutely love it as much as on the first day. I have a Rolex Datejust 36mm as well (bought in 2009), however, I find the BB54 to be a notch more perfect. I will be keeping mine for the rest of my life for sure. It is just perfect in all areas - dimentions, power-reserve, quality, bracelet (love the rivets), clasp - can’t fault one thing on this watch. All the best !

I’ve owned multiple Tudors and the hands never were a problem. They are super legible and the design isn’t that polarizing in person.

It's my everyday watch I got both the rubber strap and the steel strap so I wouldn't sell it because it's one of the nicer watches in the market sometimes maybe you don't like the brand or the marketing of it but no one can deny that it's one of the nicest watches on the market for everyday wear it just looks classy it's understated it's really super nice it's light it's a nice little watch that you can wear every single day you can wear it to work you can wear it all the time it gives you enough weight so it feels nice while you're driving or doing whatever you're doing it's a very nice jewelry piece and I wouldn't give it up because anytime you can always get maybe 3 or $4,000 for it anyway so I don't see it going lower than that

Quite right you are, the thing is getting shots like this in public I already look like a madman. At one point I genuinely considered a pillow xD. I think shots like that are a bit more unique than the slick macro shots you'll find everywhere else and a bit more true to life. It also makes it clear that the watches and opinions are mine, because no company would be happy getting a scratched up rental watch back ^^.

The Black Bay, in any iteration, is overhyped to the hilt. There are a number of more interesting offers on the market, even from Tudor itself.
