If you ever stop your channel I think I’m going to have a withdrawal 😂😂😂.. I check your page daily.. I just bought IHG points for 50% off.. They had a sale and I saved a couple hundred dollars because I maximize them..
All your videos are so informative!! Soon you’ll be at 100k 😁😁 Sebastian for president..

My family has fallen into the trap of devalued points in the past. Not because of transferring, but because we weren't using them specifically through partners. When our family was using an Amex Platinum card, we would often let the points build up and mainly spend those points connected to Amazon purchases. It made sense for us as we weren't using the points for anything else, but it was not the maximum value.

Wow! Don’t transfer without a plan ✅ great tip thx. 👍🏻 when do points go on sale? I know my mother in law buys some to roll over her points into the next year. I’d like to tell her when the best time is to buy them at least.

let's say in january i anticipate a trip at end of year and have already picked the hotel we wana stay at and redeem our points for, and knew how many points each night's stay requires and that we still need to top off points by buying points when they will be on sale (u said they happen every quarter or twice a yr)--- is that an ok strategy? how early can i book a hotel for?

You should talk about the "New Cardmember Offer" Chase is offering for the Freedom Unlimited, 3 points on all purchases in first year. Interested to hear your input since the Chase Trifecta is commonly talked about on the channel.

With either the 3x points or the 1.5x plus $150 bonus, you need to spend $10,000 to break even on the points rewards. In other words, $10,000 in spend in either scenario yields $300 cash back.
If spending more than $10,000 in the first year on only the CFU is likely for you, the 3x will work best. Don’t overspend in the first year just to reach the $10,000 mark. Otherwise, if your spend in the first year is less than $10,000, you would be better off with the 1.5x and $150 bonus. I would prefer the latter if it’s still available.
Reach the $150 bonus first and then just hit $10,000 in spend on the CFU without rushing to spend before the first year is up (as in the 3x scenario).

Vincent Pascual that was the same number I had when I ran the numbers (about $830 monthly. I agree, I personally prefer the $150 dollar bonus and 1.5 points on spend. (UPDATE) It looks like on chase's website they went back to the old offer of $150 for 500 min spend in 3 months, and 1.5 points on all purchases.

Question in booking award travel for yourself and a friend, would that be considered against the rules? If you're not solely booking for them, but for both of you on the same trip with points.

Hi I just bought some Alaska miles to use to top off. Then booked a flight but I only got 1 cent per miles so I canceled the booking and booked with cash. I got my points back but wished I didnt have to purchase the points since it was inflated. For alaska the points worth 1.5cent?

Great video! I have one question tho: Is it a mistake to redeem Chase UR points into cash? When I was shopping for flights, I always find a better deal outside chase's travel portal. For example, a flight could be $120 on another website with discount but $179 on chase travel portal. In this case, I would rather redeem 12,000 points for cash to purchase the flight instead of using 14,320 points to purchase the flight thru chase portal(I use Chase Sapphire Preferred to get 1.25CPP). This happened to me a lot since I get the chase sapphire preferred. I am a poor grad student and I don't want to pay points for a first/business class either. Do you think it is a good idea to redeem UR points for cash?

I've called them in the past about a similar issues where the airline price was 30% cheaper than chase travel portal and the cs rep told me they can't do anything about it.
Escalated to manager because it's absurd that the airline sells ticket for 120 and chase sells for 175 and manager said same thing

Under the new SPG / marriot points system, is it worth it okay to transfter points to airlines when you need a ticket? Or is it better to hold onto your point for use at a hotel?

Is there a credit card that gives perks or bonus points exclusively for restaurants and fast food establishments? My goal is to get a credit card for food, electronics, hotels, airfare, a gas that will offer the best bonuses. I am getting to a point in my life where I will be more exclusive to where I shop and will want a card with rewards for those establishments. I know a Burger King rewards card is a bit much at this point but if there is a credit card that is exclusive to any restaurant purchases will be used for personal use. The new tax law has removed the tax ride offs on the business side so having a card exclusively for restaurants on the business end is not useful to me but if there was a credit card for business office supplies that offered rewards, that would be useful. Please assist.

Sorry Sebby, 5% back with amazon prime is hard to beat and I only use it for Amazon, any chance you can make a master sheet (or point me in the right direction) that I can plug in cur amex vs delta/united/jetblue etc points or the value and see what the best use? if you have this somewhere that would be awesome. Thanks for keeping up the great videos.

Sebby.....does it make sense to buy the SPG points that are on sale now? Even with the merger happening later this summer?

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 лет назад

If you have a use case, sure. The biggest risk is buying a ton of points and getting them devalued.
