11:20 yoooo can you imagine having your account shutdown because the hotel ran a promo and you jumped on it?! 😢🤯 I would’ve lost my mind…how many people had thousands of points wiped away? I feel bad for the people affected by that one🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yeah this is the part that pisses me off. Hyatt could’ve just taken away the status and points earned from the promotion but instead the punish the little people and not the hotels that did this.
I'm so glad i signed up for Alaska points when I (rarely) flew Icelandair and AA. Almost only fly SW but have been trying to earn some OneWorld status.
🐻 I cashed in some Chase points recently to United to book a free trip to Vegas with the fam. I think that I’m moving to United from Delta. Alaska is almost non- existent in Denver. Delta points really are pesos and can be hard to use. United (while not as comfortable in flight as Delta) gives me actual free flights. Hard to argue with that.
This could make Alaska status earning more useful than AA status if the main interest in AA status was flying Alaska now that they’ve also added EQM earning for dining and shopping
We stayed at Hyatt Regency Waikiki was very disappointing. Service, room, homeless yelling at worlds out side hotel by sidewalk we afraid to go beach because we don't want to step on needles that they might used for drugs . Don't give me wrong I am feeling sympathy for homeless but it becomes problems that Hawaii need to address this issue to protect tourists and stay cation local . Hyaat in my opinion was not higher standards than Hilton. We stayed in at Hilton 4 different countries so far none of them disappoint us
To me Marriott Titanium is worth the additional bonus point earnings and the MileagePlus Silver (and now Aeroplan 25K) status. It's from Titanium to Ambassador that I'm not seeing the value, since I rarely have requests and requirements that are unique for my stay and above the authority of the front desk.
🐻I started switching to Alaska before the Hawaiian acquisition was announced. Meant to be a 2ndary airline to Delta, they will likely become our primary.
🐻 Not sure I'll go for the Alaska elite status, but the Hyatt cancellations are horrible. Franchisees can promote loopholes to clients, but then the clients get banned. Oy! That's a black eye for the brand no matter how you look at it.🐶
Agree on Alaska Airlines miles are worth more, and it is easier than other US airlines to earn status. My concern is that if Alaska Airlines hurdle to status is lower, then it has higher chances of too many of their customers with status. Hence, it will have to restructure in a way that it will be harder to earn status in the future (same as with other major Airlines that already did). Perhaps that is the end goal.
Might be a stupid question but how about reward flights redeemed with partner airlines (such as Iberia) and credited to Alaska (if this is evven possible)? Would this earn Alaska miles and MQM? 🐻
🐻 Don’t forget that Alaska has acquired Hawaiian so for Alaska elites who travel internationally, they will be getting massive ease of use to Asia and the South Pacific.
🐻In the same boat as you Sebby regarding Delta. I think the Riyadh Air link up will be great for Delta internationally whenever it materializes and also when Saudia renews its fleet and upgrades its service...a ways away. I thought overall redemption pain would get better with DL after the pandemic bloat subsided but nope. Domestic redemption isn't that bad, say BOS/NYC to MIA in first or economy with upgrade cert or even D1 transcon off-peak. Very happy they are finally refurbing 757's but man they are getting up there in age.
thanks again sebby!!! i get AA ep status just with business spend each year. any aadvantage to trying for alaska status?....if i could ask one more thing....i would like to have elevated status with one airline in each of the three airline alliances. i have oneworld covered with AA and BA.....your recommendations for an airline in each of the other two alliances?....i dont particularly spend a lot on other airlines, but if status was worth it, i could direct spend that direction. thx again
If you have AA status, you're covered on that front already. If you have enough business spend, it might make sense to chase Delta (via Amex Delta Reserve or holding a few of their cards). YMMV on if that's useful though (might be better off putting that spend towards Hyatt status, Hilton FNCs, etc.) More on Delta status here: ruclips.net/video/Fozvnceh7NU/видео.html
@8:06 🐻does this mean redeeming AS miles on partner airlines counts towards EQM earning? Not even Delta does that. Not to mention all the AA routes you can book. Big if true!
🐻 I pounced on the CIP to get the 120,000 points with the explicit goal of transferring the whole bunch to Hyatt but your mention of transfer bonuses will make me do the math. Darn you Sebby for mentioning such great transfer opportunities and providing such value 😀😀 I do think Hyatt did the right thing by canceling the accounts. So much cheating is simply disregarded these days. It is all fun and games until it is about points and nights, then it gets real.
Question - concerning Bangkok, would you stay in the HR versus the Grand Hyatt? They are the same category. But have not heard great things about the Bangkok Grand Hyatt. Have you stayed in them previously? Thanks
@@justsmy5677 sorry I have not been to either one as it will be my first time in Thailand. I’ve done extensive research on both however. GH Bangkok is a really good option as well when compared to HR. It’s just a little more dated than the HR and HR is known to have a pretty good breakfast. I’d still like to try GH Erawan and might still book it.
@@yvjyang Thanks. I’ll be in Bangkok in about 4 weeks. I’m going to stay at the Hyatt Place for part of my stay to hit Globalist without burning too many points. But thought I’d stay at either the GH or HR for a few nights.
Booked our first trip to Paris France next year staying at park Hyatt Paris vendome using points after watching your review of the hotel. Would be so grateful if picked as guest of honor which will make our trip a lifelong memory. Thank you!
I can’t find the bear emoji 😂but really interesting news about Alaska. It’s looking more and more promising. I normally use my points for Hyatt stays and more recently have done a few business class flights on SQ and United to Japan, Bali and Singapore. I agree with Sebby on the hotel issue. I wouldn’t normally assume that a hotel is doing anything shady with the rewards program. Would love to win the GOH award as I’m a mere mortal with no status, but am pretty loyal to the brand and have a stay at the Park Hyatt Paris coming up in November based on Mandy and Sebby’s review!
🐻 Cal Bears...woo!🎉 at this time im not traveling a ton so chasing elite status is not high on my radar...as to my chase points they are def going to be redeemed for air travel as i have a pretty nifty Marriott hook up as the family member of a Marriott employee and my points are better spent elsewhere...as to the Hyatt situation...sounds like those folks that "bought" Titanium status def got scammed by the hotel and its not really their fault. For Hyatt to completely shut them down seems a bit extreme. Perhaps a more customer oriented solution would have been to advise them that they got scammed, inform them that their status has been downgrades to whatever it was previously and then get them their money back from the individual hotel owners. Im a big fan of good customer service and Hyatt's reaction seems like they are blaming the victims in this case. Thanks for all the great content! Keep up the great work! Maybe a future video on the lesser known Escape Lounges? Since they are now partnered with Priority Pass and thats our only option over here at Oakland😊
🐻I am saving my chase points for when Flying Blue has a transfer bonus. Virgin fees are too high so I will book my flights through Flying blue. I have Aalaska MVP Gold status and I thinks it’s the best airline loyalty program. I had Marriott Titanium Status before and the Silver status with United was very useful. Marriott Platinum status is a hit or miss. Some hotel honor your Status in the US but I think it’s more valuable outside the US. That’s when you see the real Value. I am a Globalist at Hyatt which I got Organically. I don’t think people should be able to buy their Hyatt status but if the Hotel was offering it then it’s not the members fault. Hyatt should restore those members accounts and hold the hotels accountable.

You get Alaska miles for flying American with AS FF account
So if American Airlines services Denver enough you may be able to benefit still.
Seems like United silver status is the best perk of Marriott titanium, and then the United club offers most of those benefits
Award flights counting for elite status is great! I always hated that at least hotels count your award nights but airlines don’t count award flights

Kind of sad because it’s the hotel is offering this Hyatt status for a fee. How does the customer know it’s fake?
