Love your videos, Sebby! You break everything down to the numbers, and I really appreciate that. Plus, the tone and candor of your videos is just really honest. You, John Liang, and Brian Jung are my absolute favorites.
📕That's one intense setup! As for me, Amex Plat + C1X + CSP/CFF + Inks as the core! Definitely wanna plan some trips in advance before jumping into the hotel cards and certificates. How do you keep track or use all the cards to prevent inactivity? Also @ 11:50 Gold first, then Plat!
Your setup is solid sebby - my personal is Amex platinum & matriott for my business and chase sapphire reserve for personal. It’s worked out well, I own a Toyota dealership in Oregon always watch your vids.
Im just now realizing how much editing and production goes into your videos. I have learned so much from watching your channel... you helped me improve the quality of life of my family. Thank you. 🙏
📕 My setup is pretty simple: I have the AMEX Platinum for lounge access, the USAA AMEX Cashback Rewards Plus for gas (5%) and groceries (5% at the Commissary, 2% at civilian grocery stores), and the USAA Visa Eagle Navigator for travel and transit (3X). I'm thinking of adding the Delta Platinum later this year.
Hey Sebby, so I'm just getting started on this adventure but I have a pretty amazing perk few cards can touch: I work for an airline which means I can non-rev and I get a lot of travel discounts that are industry based. It's a very different way of traveling because you are always on standby but you're playing the odds constantly. The things that are important to me are lounge access, points from dining and those points going to things like hotel stays. So I decided on the CSR to start but may expand outward. I also own my own LLC so I'm interested to know what you would recommend there? My wife is already Executive Platinum Emerald with AA so we're set there but I'd either like to build airline status or hotel status.
Great strategy Sebb. My core set-up is: Ink Cash - 5x cable/internet, 2x gas AmEx Gold - 4x dining/groceries AmEx Green - 3x travel or CSP 2x Cap V1 - 1.25x catch all (might pc to VX)
*red book* ( I'm on my computer w/ no emojis. My set up is up in the air. I'm only now getting into using credit cards for free travel. I have years worth of points collected on my credit cards that I haven't used and wish there was a bit of a more detailed guide as to what to do once you've collected a few credit cards and some points. Love your videos. Thanks!
Was surprised to see the CSR a part of your set up Sebby! I’ve been feeling like a lone wolf with that card as most people go for CSP. Thanks for the tips as always!
Excellent video as always and thanks for sharing your actual strategy. I'm personally on the Chase trifecta (Sapphire Reserve, Freedom, Freedom Unlimited) with Bonvoy Brilliant (largely Marriott loyal), and United Explorer, though with status, I'm struggling to get value there, so will either move up to Quest or drop all together. With CSR dropping Priority Pass restaurants, I'm doing some broad reevaluation as that was a valuable benefit to me. Cheers!
I’ve been following your content for awhile man, you’re always dropping valuable info. I’m under 5/24 and plan to hit the ink cards since I haven’t hit the bonus in awhile. I’ll need to replenish my Chase UR balance lol📕
Big fan of ur content Sebby. Wanted your opinion on my current strategy. I just convinced my player 2 to join the fun. We are running the chase ink cards for the big SUB and they allow us to stay under 5/24. That coupled with Bilt for rent has been a nice combo. I got the CSR for travel but I just got the Marriott Boundless and plan to hit all the Marriott SUB’s for chase and Amex Marriott cards. Once I product change to thr Ritz I’ll down grade CSR to Preferred.
Wait, how do you pay taxes due at vest for RSU w/CC? Options in brokers are as mentioned sell-to-cover or cash transfer (out of pocket) but never heard of using a credit card to pay the cash transfer option. 5:30
📕 I started my travel setup in February, so I’ll be maximizing UR points for 2024. I got the CFF with the 5x Gas and Grocery bonus, and I’ll be under 3/24 next month. I’ll be getting the CSP (hopefully with an elevated offer) and hopefully the CIC after that (or the CFU if I get denied for the CIC).
I used to never value the checked bags, but after doing through DFW with a carry on and back pack, lounge, and trains from hub to hub, I will now use it. Who wants to be hustling with baggage at the lounge, or on and off the trains. With the schwab plat, I can use the lost/delayed baggage benefit if they loose my clothes and tooth paste.
📕 I’m currently transitioning from a cash back setup to more of a travel based setup honestly thanks to your videos; I’m currently running the Chase trifecta w/ the CSP primarily for booking rental cars, Freedom for the Hotels and Amazon this quarter, and just picked up the Amex gold since it works for my spend since I’m on the road a lot at eat out constantly, plus the 90k intro bonus is legit. Was considering upgrading to the CSR but the value isn’t there since Lyft/DD aren’t as good as the Uber credits Amex has and looking get the Plat after the minimum spend on the Gold is over.
Hey Sebby! 📕 I'm on an Amex and Marriott setup mostly. Personal and Business cards. I have the Chase Saphirre Pref as well. I need to branch out with something new for 2024.
🇨🇦 business owner. Setup: AMEX Plat, AMEX aeroplan reserve, AMEX cobalt, BMO World elite. US side: Hilton Honors and Aspire. Will Probably go for 3 aspire cards and rack up 9 free night certificates every year
📕 idk how unique my personal situation is but I've got 13 cards rn and they vary greatly from you! (Although about half are Chase business, the other half are on the smaller end. I figured I'd work my way up to platinum and other higher fee cards). Thanks for your content!
Thank you for the video. I do have the capital one setup and also a four card amex. You make a great argument for the hyatt card. Since my wife and I do Vegas about 4 times a year.I would really love to get the wyndom business earner card. Since my MGM gold card win away with the divorce between Hyatt and m.G.M
Im 26 and rent in NYC so I have Amex Gold as my daily driver (most spend is restaurants and groceries) and Bilt for rent payments. I look forward to adding Amex platinum for flights and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant for hotels as work travel scales up in the future. That four card strategy I think I’ll keep in place up and until another travel card does better without additional complexity
Recently discovered your videos! Great content. Question...is there a way you manage all your travel cards, etc. Like in an app, or do you carry that thick travel binder with you everywhere? My hubby has on old school travel portfolio that is busting at the seams...it takes up so much space. I feel like there has got to be a better way to be prepared for every point eventuality without being so old school? Thanks for taking the time to make useful content! :)
Thank you for this. I’ve been debating about the Bonvoy Brilliant. It’s expensive but I’m already in the Marriott world because of a time share so the points could help.📕
Thanks Sebby for this new interesting video! 👍🏼 Do you know if it will work to get two Amex welcome bonus if i apply once for a the business gold card with my SS number and once again for the business gold card but with my EIN number? (as it works with the Chase Ink cards).
📕 I’m mostly on the chase trifecta and capital one duo track with all my hotel and airline cards with AMX. I’m considering checking out Marriott or IHG card for hotels since the surpass price increase. Does that even Make sense?
Really interesting to see other people's setups, and how the more advanced credit card people are. Personally, I like to keep it simple, and have the Citi Premier, and Fidelity 2%. Plan to get the Marriot Boundless soon as a keeper card.
📕 I'm all over the place with my setup. I have the AmEx Plat, Gold, Green, and BBP that i was using. Then I thought I should go cashback since we cant travel due to other obligations. That's with BofA cards (plat honors). We also have 2 Aspires and the Hilton business card that I might cancel. Thanks for the great content and knowledge drops!
📕 I’m still in the same spot. I know I need to grab a good Marriott bonus when it comes available but I either need to get probably a Citi Custom Cash or Chase Freedom to earn better on the setups. Not sure about the Savor One.
📕. Living in Europe current workhorse is CSR forbearing out, travel and just about everything else. AMEX platinum for subscriptions, flight credits. We also have the IHG premier for the anniversary night and status once we move back to the States I’ll probably pick up AMEX Gold for Groceries and gas.
I have a combo of cards , my chase cards are the freedom unlimited and freedom flex . My citi cards are the double cash and premier. I have the amex gold , capitol one venture X , amex blue cash, and the jetblue plus card lol so I just go back and forth between all of them . Should I just keep doing this ?
📕… Love your content !! It’s been amazing to understand the “game”. I wish someone would do a video on the amounts needed to spend to reach a level. My last job, I flew M-F and so having my Amex/Hilton setup was a no-brainer. Now I’m a trucker and I can’t figure out how to rack up these points🤣
📕 I recently product change my CIU to CIP then I saw the new 120K sub on the CIU through doctor of credit and got approved. No point getting the CIP 100K sub for $8K spend when the CIU currently offer 120K sub for $6K spend in the first three months. I was lucky enough to get both CIU and CIC for 90K. I completed the Ink Business trifecta. My current setup right now are CIP, CFF, & CIU. I do have IHG Business Premier as my hotel card.
📙Schwab Plat(airline tix, AMEX Send)/Grandfathered SAVOR (teens dining, groceries, streaming, entertainment)/BILT (dining, HOA fees, car rental, recurring charitable contributions on the 1st)/Custom Cash(5x gas)/Hyatt (2x club dues, taxes/spend to status)/AAdvantage(recurring bills, taxes/spend to status)/SWA(streaming, taxes/spend to companion pass during 25% bonus quarters)/Alliant/Paypal MC/bunch of hotel keeper cards...I feel like I get value out of all of them...trying to decide if I want to mess with the Bonvoy Brilliant (before upgrading Boundless to Ritz this year) but not wild about tracking monthly dining credits...have everything else pretty automated...Thanks for the channel Sebby, you do a great job.
would love to know about jetblue mint upgrade certificate. I didn't even know it existed, r that you ever used jetblue. I live in Buffalo with family in Boston and fly jetblue frequently. Been watching you for sometime as well. Any chance you could talk more about jetblue if other are interested as well? Still watching if not lol
📕Love the videos. I feel like I've been "conservatively" playing the credit card game for 7 years or so, mainly sticking with CSP, Freedom, Hyatt, and Southwest. It's only been recently that I've broadened my scope to include Marriott, Hilton, Ink, United, and eventually Amex Plat/Gold. Channels like yours have helped me develop my strategy for the next few years. My wife and I have our 20 year anniversary to celebrate in 3 years, and I am planning a points paid trip to either the Maldives, Bora Bora, or Bali, or maybe one of each haha! Thanks again for the content and ideas!
I'm 4/24 with Chase right now and I'm debating signing up for the World of Hyatt or the Capital One Venture X. I currently have two versions of the IHG - the Select with the $49 AF and the Premier with the $99 AF. In the past year, I got the AMEX Hilton Surpass under the old AF. I'm debating renewing though. I have a points stay coming up at the Trafalgar in London and wonder if it's worth keeping the $150 AF for the gold status OR closing it and staying there without status.
Liking the Wyndham business earner card. Have you figured out how to stay for free in Snowmass/Aspen during the ski season? That’s one tough nut to crack
Hey Sebby! I have an amex platinum... If I get the gold now will I still get the intro bonus? Is is it still worth it for the 4x even if I don't get the intro bonus?
📕 wife and I both have chase but I thinking of how best to incorporate one world airlines into our setup since we fly to HK from LA regularly. Added the citi mile up but not sure if that's the most efficient use of our spending
I do feel that hotels are easier to score high values but airlines are difficult, especially given that United and Delta are doing dynamic reward chart now.
Wow! That sounds far more complicated than anything I'd be willing to do. I'd love to know what upfront cost they're paying in annual fees. While you can recoup that cost most of the time, it's still an upfront cost that could/should count against a travel budget for the year. Stated another way, would it be better to ask what percent of your yearly travel budget is spent on annual fees?📙
Thanks for the great video! I currently have the AmEx setup but I feel like I’m not getting my moneys worth. I only travel like 5 times a year and it’s normally domestic. Would you recommend the Chase Setup or the Capital One setup for me instead of AmEx? My main airport is BOS 📕
📕 Literally got approved for Gold, Plat, Venture X and Freedom Flex last weekend. No idea what the set up is gonna be. Prior to this I just had Marriott Bonvoy, and upgraded tht to Brilliant (also last weekend). My wife and I are figuring out a strategy now but we figure we hit the bonus spends and accumulate points for a less expensive Marriott stay in Aruba for us and our parents in 2026. 😅
Does it make sense to go for the Amex platinum knowing it’s a one and done for 175k bonus? I have the gold for when I would cancel. Not too sure how much I would get from the credits
You mentioned paying the HOA fees and property taxes taxes with BILT. I had previously checked and I don’t think you get any points to do that, plus how would you pay HOA then?
Nice video Sebby. Working on Amex business platinum 120K SUB on $15K spend. Separately was approved for Amex Platinum for 125K SUB on $8K spend. Should I accept, or pass and go for elusive 175K SUB ?
Why would you get two Amex cards? Why doesn’t the platinum give you the points the way the gold does that’s strange but you know best just weird they do that.
📕 What would you say are the hotel keeper cards? I have the Hyatt Card and my P2 has the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, both $95 AF with annual free night certificates. We’re now considering the Hilton Aspire for the free night certificate.
HEY SEBBY, IF I GET THE CHASE INK, CAN IT REPLACE MY SAPPHIRE P AS MY ULTIMATE PORTAL ACCESS CARD? I'M TRYING TO PARE DOWN TO A BONVOY/BRILLIANT/QUEST SET UP, USING MY SAPPGIRE P OR INK FOR PORTAL ACCESS. OR, DO I NEED PORTAL ACCESS IF I JUST RUN BONVOY/BRILLIANT/QUEST...🤓 gets confusing
Any churn plans? I’m thinking mostly Chase - do you have any cards where it has been 24+ months since the last SUB, where you could try to get a new SUB?
Do you have a video that talks about downgrading the chase sapphire reserve and reacquiring it again to take advantage of the bonus points? I have a good amount of points and I'm hesitant to downgrade. Just unsure how to approach it. I've had the card for about 4 years now.
Can you please list any and all cards that you mentioned where AskSebby earns an affiliate commission or referral bonus? I’m sure it doesn’t influence your recommendations, but would be nice for full disclosure. Thanks.
How to book business class on Etihad or Emirates would be a nice video. Even with all these travel cards, its so hard to find effective upgrades using the credit card points :/
📕 Wow, I hadn't considered recycling Ink cards with multiple EINs for more bonuses or holding so many Aspires for the certificate. I'm sitting on nearly 30 cards, about 2.5K in annual fees, your setup must be at least 5K in just fees total 🤑
currently working on a intro bonus on blue business plus as my catch all card, Gold for food, Blue cash preferred for gas, I don"t have a travel card yet but I do want the Amex platinum for that 175,000 MR points they have on a referral but i'm in pop jail last time I checked in Jan 2024🏮
Can I have two ink cash cards on the same EIN? Also you mentioned getting new ink cards every month or two, does this require a hard pull every time and how is it affecting your credit? Thanks Sebby
@@AskSebby Do you keep closing them every year so you can keep churning INKs? Would be keen to understand the INK strategy that is working for you. I have P1/P2 setup.📕

📕 I'm surprised Chase wasn't mentioned in the normal person setup. CSR's $300 travel credit is the easiest one to recoup plus freedom(s)/CFU/Inks
Same. I thought the Chase trifecta would be mentioned in the normal person setup section for sure.
I do feel that hotels are easier to score high values but airlines are difficult, especially given that United and Delta are doing dynamic reward chart now.
P2 and I just finished all of Chase (personal, inks & SW companion pass). On to Venture X next and then Citi. Amex probably not for another year or 2.
📕 I am at 4 Chase cards (Reserve) and have recently jumped into the Ink market. Just trying to get Hyatt points, mainly...Thinking about Amex next...
Looking good Seb!!!
Chase due to 5/24 and esp if you're out of BOS.
Thank you so much! Hopefully the CSR will get some love sometime soon. Even an elevated SUB would be nice
📕 love your content!
📕 nice update.
Have Platinum and Chase Preferred. Should we look to downgrade CP to Flex?
📕 Literally got approved for Gold, Plat, Venture X and Freedom Flex last weekend. No idea what the set up is gonna be. Prior to this I just had Marriott Bonvoy, and upgraded tht to Brilliant (also last weekend). My wife and I are figuring out a strategy now but we figure we hit the bonus spends and accumulate points for a less expensive Marriott stay in Aruba for us and our parents in 2026. 😅
📕Super helpful video!
Does it make sense to go for the Amex platinum knowing it’s a one and done for 175k bonus? I have the gold for when I would cancel. Not too sure how much I would get from the credits
Thoughts on the Redstone Visa Signature card?
📕 I'm thinking about getting one of the ink business cards for next year's income taxes. This year was D'oh!
You mentioned paying the HOA fees and property taxes taxes with BILT. I had previously checked and I don’t think you get any points to do that, plus how would you pay HOA then?
Great question, was thinking the same thing
Nice video Sebby. Working on Amex business platinum 120K SUB on $15K spend. Separately was approved for Amex Platinum for 125K SUB on $8K spend. Should I accept, or pass and go for elusive 175K SUB ?
What about the UBS Visa? I heard that they will still be a card to use for the airport restaurants since Chase Saph is eliminating the perk.
Why would you get two Amex cards? Why doesn’t the platinum give you the points the way the gold does that’s strange but you know best just weird they do that.
Hotel cards only make sense if you are required to travel for work. Otherwise just stick with amex platinum or chase sapphire cards.
📕 What would you say are the hotel keeper cards? I have the Hyatt Card and my P2 has the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, both $95 AF with annual free night certificates. We’re now considering the Hilton Aspire for the free night certificate.
Anything with status + free hotel night certificates.
📕thank you for the info
Any churn plans? I’m thinking mostly Chase - do you have any cards where it has been 24+ months since the last SUB, where you could try to get a new SUB?
What's your INK Churn plan / schedule. Chase has been denying me recently but @askSebby mentioned he's getting a new INK every 2 months???
Do you have a video that talks about downgrading the chase sapphire reserve and reacquiring it again to take advantage of the bonus points? I have a good amount of points and I'm hesitant to downgrade. Just unsure how to approach it. I've had the card for about 4 years now.
Product change the CSR to one of the Freedom cards and then apply again. Points stay active as long as you have a UR earning card on your account.
Wait, is the 3x on rent when paying with Alaska card thing live or still upcoming?
Can you please list any and all cards that you mentioned where AskSebby earns an affiliate commission or referral bonus? I’m sure it doesn’t influence your recommendations, but would be nice for full disclosure. Thanks.
Assume it's everything, hence the ad disclosure present in every video 🤷♂️
📕 thanks!!
📕 could you do an updated military/spouse video?!
How many Aspire cards per person do you have, and how did you get them?
📕 i use the venture X plus savor one combo and add the aspire
How to book business class on Etihad or Emirates would be a nice video. Even with all these travel cards, its so hard to find effective upgrades using the credit card points :/
📕 Wow, I hadn't considered recycling Ink cards with multiple EINs for more bonuses or holding so many Aspires for the certificate. I'm sitting on nearly 30 cards, about 2.5K in annual fees, your setup must be at least 5K in just fees total 🤑
So I can get multiple cash ink card bonuses as long as I have multiple businesses? Example: EIN and Sole prop?
📘📘📘 Thanks for sharing
currently working on a intro bonus on blue business plus as my catch all card, Gold for food, Blue cash preferred for gas, I don"t have a travel card yet but I do want the Amex platinum for that 175,000 MR points they have on a referral but i'm in pop jail last time I checked in Jan 2024🏮
Can I have two ink cash cards on the same EIN? Also you mentioned getting new ink cards every month or two, does this require a hard pull every time and how is it affecting your credit? Thanks Sebby
No, different Ink cards.
@@AskSebby Do you keep closing them every year so you can keep churning INKs? Would be keen to understand the INK strategy that is working for you. I have P1/P2 setup.📕
