I'm a huge fan of putting my credit card cash back into index funds ontop of what I already invest.

You didnt mention the best part of the Capital One X. There is a $300 travel credit. The card is $395 but $300 off the top equals $95 (you did mention the the 10,000 mile bonus worth $100 each year. Makes the card $-5) And that is before you get into any of the other perks like 2 miles for every dollar spent plus bonus points for different categories. I don't work for Capital One, but that wasn't an accurate review of that card.

Would you please consider not putting the music in the background for your videos? It makes it much harder to hear what you are saying and it is also distracting

Some inaccurate points you should highlight/rectify: the csr earning you mentioned of 5x - 10x with hotel and airline only applies if booked thru chase travel. Also, authorized users for amex plat and csr are $195 and $75 respectively and each will add your 5/24 to each player, critical if youre into the chase sub game

Not sure i understand how credit cards work. Heard a lot of stories regarding credit cards and how it got certain people into more debt. My question is, how does a credit card work for someone who never owned one before?

I'm more likely to simply pay bills, buy groceries, and shop for wants than to travel or eat out. So something with great everyday cashback would be better for me. I wish the Petal card didn't mess me over.

Travel cards use “points” that they can play extreme games with since you have no idea their actual value. Cash back you know exactly what you’re getting…usually average 3-4% with cards I have.

    • @margaretr.4427

If you make an account at Credit Karma, (free) it will show you cards that you are highly likely to get approved for. They are very basic to start but once you get a card approved you can put small purchases on it and always pay on time even if it’s just the minimum every month. After some time you will see your scores improve and then you will be offered better cards with more perks. This has worked for me and my scores have now improved to where I can apply for some cards with better perks. I started with the Mission Lane card and then Ally. They both increased my credit line after a year of on time payments. Good luck!
