- With the recent announcement from Fanatec that you can now own a CSL DD for $200, I figured we'd reflect on their most popular wheel: the McLaren GT3 wheel. Join me as I discuss my thoughts on the wheel's placement within the sim racing market and if it is still worth the money in 2023.

I was hearing new things about the wheel I haven’t heard before because I want to buy it soon, and in my head whenever he says “it’s kinda plasticy” or “it’s not the best” I’m saying “well it’s better than my 6 year old thrusmaster tmx
I’ve had it for over a year and a half and it’s great! Especially coming from a low end wheel like Logitech or thrust master! For the price it is fantastic and the dual clutch paddles are a nice addition
@@keeef23does it work with f1 23
@@ransomsdp I personally haven’t used in in F1 23 but I use it for iracing and it’s a solid wheel
@@keeef23 oh ok
Exactly lol
Still my favorite wheel and idk how something plasticky can feel so quality. Also i love the paddle shifters! As is they thud is so nice. It has a click still just different type. I prefer how deep and thuddy it is over a regular click.
Steering wheels are the one part of your rig were you absolutely can go for cheaper options and be 100% fine. Get a 30 cm-ish round rim to start out it . Then get something like the Mc Laren wheel and you are set for any kind of scenario. Most people won't find any use for most of the buttons and dials anyway. Unless you really want to go hard into endurance racing or something you really won't be fiddling around with settings while driving.
More expensive wheels usually bring very little to the table to justify their ridiculous premiums. I have been using thrustmaster gear for years and allthough they often get slated for their quality I have not had any issues with any of their rims. I never once felt the need to go with more premium brands other then for my pedals.
Great video it helped me a lot
Fantastic wheel for the price.
Just got mine , its a lovely wheel indeed . Recommend you guys buy it for the money
I’m watching;g this video Because im considering getting it and paddle upgrade. I’ve been using the v2.5 for years but I find the size fatigues me and buggers my shoulder and back. I’m quite broad in the shoulders and it makes me feel hunched. If there is another option for ps5 let me knew
Its not just a licensed wheel like the others Fanatec sells, this one's shape and dimensionally, is a replica of the real McLaren GT3 wheel at the time they created this. Too bad they did not think to release a version with better materials, people will pay for that! I have a formula wheel, but keep looking to see if I should pick this up for GT3 racing...
Would anyone recommend this for F1 23 as the F1 esport starter wheel is out of stock on Fanatec
I would also like to know the same thing
For f1 games you will need magnetic shifters for quick shifting so the esports v2 wheel would be best or if you have the money go for the 2.5 wheel . The McLaren wheel is good for gt games etc
@@internetuser1183 thank u 👊🏽
@@internetuser1183the mclaren wheel has better shifters than the f1 wheel, both magnetic and the mclaren has clutch paddles too
Hey mate how is this compared to your formula v2.5x ? I want to use it for forza and acc
Following
I have both, I use the Mclaren for GT cars and Formula for LMP/formula cars. If I had to choose one I would probably stick with the Mclaren, its better overal for me.
Best wheel I upgraded to third party magnetic shifter for 100€
Only downside is mclaren wheel cant be mapped properly to gt7 , having that said the wheel is awesome , feels really great in hand and now im used to it i wouldnt switch back
how are you turning so much but turning so little at the same time?
setting your wheel at lower degree
Still the best low-budget (sub 500€) GT wheel around.
Negative! Simagic gt Neo wheel is $289 and a $20 maglink it can be used on any wheel base. Plus backlit buttons and so many more features
@@SIMRIG412 While I agree that I’d love to have the Neo GT, by the time I get the emulator and QR I’m $5-600 in. I opted to go for the McLaren wheel because it’s good enough for now. I do have my eyes on the neo for the future though.
@@elemento1991 yeah the GT Neo is definitely a nice wheel for the price, but if you're outside the simagic ecosystem, it can be very expensive. so not worth in the end imo
Excusme: what game is it pls ?
grand turismo 7
@@stormy_corn thank you
GT7... so it works on PS5, correct?
@@mich5528 yes if paired to the GT DD PRO model (PS compatible) or other PS compatible bases (not many!).
Ive had this wheel for a couple of years now. This thing has a issue with random disconnecting an theres not really a fix for it. The only thing thats recommended is to replace the qr with the metal 1. Been using the metal qr since day one an it still has issues. Dont buy it
QR2 is the fix
@@dromtl7250nah.. gt neo from sim magic was the fix 😂
imagine making a video without using: "with that being said......."
Challenge level: Impossible 😂
Mc rattle
because of the QR1 light?
@@mich5528 no, the buttons on the mc laren wheel rattle
@@enzoman444 because of the vibrations of the wheel…
Okay I’ll found out soon as I ordered the DD bundle with this wheel.
Tx
@@mich5528 I sold mine. Couldn’t take it .
Anything fanatec is junk 😂
