I was there in Uganda between 2013- 2017 ..it was wonderful time....Matoke, Rolex , Nyamchoma, posho & beans , dried fish with Juggu sauce...and steaming Yum pumpkin omg...I just miss it

Street food
1) Muchomo (BBQ Meat) with chapti W/ ketchup in a bag 🤤
2) Rolex (Egg with chosen veg rolled in chapati)
3) Chicomando (Bean stew with Chapati
4) Emputa (The best fish stew in UG) 🤤🤤
5) Sambusa
6) Byenda & chips, chapati & salad (kidney cooked in light spicy stew)
7)Fried tilapia (go to the beach, they catch it fresh and cook in front of you with chosen sides)
8) Nsenene (trust me! You WILL love it ) 😂
9) Pousho and beans (Maize and fried beans) (my fave)
10) Kabalagala (Banana pancakes) HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!
Also take a trip to Kenya 🇰🇪❤️

For a good snack at home buy some chapati go home make a very nice Spanish omelette. Lay the omelette on top of the chapati and roll them together.
You will love the chapati more. That the Ugandan delicacy " Rolex". It's a boom!!!!

Been there once last time I was in Los Angeles - just before the whole pandemic thing started. Not exaggerating when I say that their goat meat stew is probably one of Los Angeles' best kept secrets.

Those are not plantains, matooke are the green bananas that we enjoy a lot in Uganda

It's in the plantain family home but Ugandans are used to call it green bandanas which is right also
@@trendeous4070 plantain is gonja even when you cook it when it's still green, it's hard it doesn't have a soft texture like matooke, even kivuvu is not the same as gonja, matooke is a green banana, their are so many types of bananas and they all shouldn't be called plantain!
@@4triangle588 matooke are matooke, people mistake matooke with other bananas. We have a lot of bananas in Uganda and we don't know all of their names in English. Gonja, Ndizi, bogoya, kivuvu, kayinja, matooke, and even red bananas which I don't know in luganda. And all that we eat it differently, some of them we don't eat them, we make wine.

The matooke is basically bananas (not ripe) and the ground nut paste is usually served with it
