Thanks for the comment. Lithuania had some great players in the late 80s and early 90s. Wish I had the chance to see Sabonis in his prime and before the injuries. Šarūnas Marčiulionis was fun to watch. I enjoyed seeing his son play for St. Mary's. Thanks again. Sorry for the late reply.

Fun facts about the "Fun" TMC teams:
Nelson ran Tom Tolbert at "Point Center" against David Robinson in the 1991 playoffs, drawing D-Rob's defense out of the lane. I remember thinking how cool that was.
In the next playoff series, the Warriors posted up 5'11" Tim Hardaway on 6'4" Byron Scott. I was like, "Man, Don Nelson is so outside of the box!"
Warriors teammates Chris Mullin and Mario Ellie were once teenage friends in the rough, tough environment of late 1970s New York. Ellie would go with Mullin into predominantly African American neighborhoods as Mullin was always seeking out the best competition he could find around the city.
Nelson coached the Warriors again and dismantled the mighty 2007 Dallas Mavericks with small ball tactics. I think those Warriors shot around 30 threes a game in the playoffs, an astounding number for the time. Now it is standard for the whole league. Nelson=trailblazer/innovator.

Awesome comment. Thank you for teaching me about this. I had no idea about Tom Tolbert. I re-watched the 91 series, but maybe I zipped through some interesting parts and I guess I missed that part with Tolbert. Nelson did some crazy things like that with the Bucks when they had illegal defense (by playing zone back then), he would have his big men at half-court to keep the other teams shot blocker out of the lane. I used to like Tom Tolbert when he used to be a commentator in the 2000s. I remember he thought Jason Kidd could see through his ears in reference to how great his court vision is. If Tom Tolbert could see through his enormous ears, he would have had the greatest court ever so maybe Don Nelson was onto something. Nelson was quite the innovator. Thank you so much for your added information. I greatly appreciate it.

@@90sSportsNostalgia Thanks so much for your response! I can see some of that "big man near half court" action from Nelson in the '91 Spurs series to keep D-Rob out of the lane. Looks like they trusted Tolbert to handle the ball up top out of that particular set. Gotta love Nelly.

From 90-94 the Warriors had some of the greatest 3somes and quadsomes in NBA history. From Run TMC to Webber Spree and Mullin but didn't do shit with it.
If you look @the stats compiled by Run TMC in 91 you can tell why they singled out Mitch for trade. He averaged the 2nd most points, but only 1 or 2 more than Hardaway a PG, and less rebounds and assists and steals than Mullin or Hardaway. Less rebounds than Mullin, less assists than Mullin and Hardaway and less steals than both. In retrospect, they should have traded Mullin, since Richmond had a more consistent career in the 90s. Trading any of them was stupid though.

Thank you for the comment. I like both of your comments. From the Kings side, I am not sure what they were looking at or if Richmond was the one they really wanted. Anyways, I understand why it was done and I understand people saying it was stupid. I wish Run TMC lasted more than 2 years. Thank again, take care and be safe.

Great Video!! Golden State had a real interesting decade in the 90's and an overall history, when you consider that their current dynasty started with players they drafted 7th, 11th and 35th overall, that may be unprecedented in any sport!! But back to the 90's, in hindsight, trading Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens was a TURRIBLE trade for Golden State because Tyrone Hill, Chris Gatling and Victor Alexander ended up being the physical/bruising interior presence that the Run-TMC trio needed(as the video pointed out) to really compete for championships in the future.
But Billy Owens looked to be a sure-fire future NBA All-Star coming out of Syracuse because of his skill-set/measurables (6-9 with guard skills, could play inside and outside) and how dominant he was. I could see why Golden State made the trade. B.Owens didn't quite live up to the hype, I thought he'd have similar numbers/impact to Larry Johnson and Dikembe Mutombo as a rookie. Still GSW had one of the best records in the NBA during the 1991-1992 season, so the trade looked like it worked out until Seattle upset them in the playoffs.
About the Webber fiasco, they should have fired Don Nelson and kept Webber!! Webber showed he could be a franchise-player as a rookie(even though he didn't quite become a franchise player during his NBA career), you don't just let someone like that go!!
The final thing that needs to be pointed out is the GREAT job of drafting Golden State did in the early 90's, it's somewhat easy to hit on high lottery picks, but drafting future all-stars in Tim Hardaway, Tyrone Hill, Chris Gatling and Latrell Sprewell where they did was brilliant.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I greatly appreciate it. Furthermore, I also love all of the information. ...It's amazing how well GS drafted. I can't think of a better front office that drafted better than the Warriors. The first thing that comes to mind is Red Auerbach, who was was sneaky good in the 80s with the draft with his trades. Whenever I think about Curry being drafted 7th overall in 2009, I think about the T-Wolves who had two selections before the Warriors and drafted two point guards in Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio. ...Enjoy the NFL games this weekend.

@@germansantos5733 The great thing about youtube is, people post a LOT of old-school games/programming so you can go back and see what really happened. I bring this up because I saw an NBC pre-game or halftime show from the 1991 playoffs and they talked about how the Lakers frontcourt (Worthy, Perkins, Green, Divac) and Magic who played a lot in the post had a significant rebounding advantage over Golden State, especially when they won Games 3 and 4 in Oakland. Everyone in Golden State's organization must have panicked because of how they lost the Lakers series so they made the drastic move of breaking up Run-TMC.
In hindsight, Golden State should have just been patient and brought back Run-TMC for the 91-92 season to see if they could improve on the success they had in 1991. It's possible that Run-TMC with an improved Tyrone Hill could have also been a 55+ win team. Also, nobody could have imagined that 1990-1991 would be the last we'd see of Magic Johnson, Golden State probably thought they'd be competing against him for the next 3 or 4 years at least and believed it would be REAL hard to eliminate Magic and the Lakers. Golden State made the trade for Billy Owens about a week ago before Magic announced his retirement.

Respects to the previous players of GSW unfortunately they did not deliver THE RING. There is Spreewell, Tim Hardaway, Tyrone Hill and the others and I agree with all the pints pointed out in this video. But hell, we need the process and most likely (the reason they did not won the at least the western conference finals is because of the reasons said on this video) they did not follow the process because they thought they are the only one that could win the CHAMPIONSHIP for the GSW. There is no "I" on the word TEAM and Basketball is a team game. This post is an opinion of the channel owner and poster and if so, then its his opinion. What the hell is he comparing the new GSW with the old team? What is his purpose? Hate the new GSW? I just subscribed with this channel just to comment and I will unsubscribe after a week (if I can remember to unsubscribe lol). This video is not helpful. What is he trying to get at? The new GSW is not that good as in the 90s GSW? Just asking for the poster of this video? Are you really a GSW fan? Yes its a fascinating decade back in the 90s but we need to move on and Warriors is the BEST team now... Are you NOT HAPPY??? Come on?!? Whatever happened in the past helped the Warriors be what they are right now. Come on.... If you are not happy then keep it to yourself. Peace!
