    Hi Berta! This was very interesting. Please add the following groups to those who should NOT take golden milk or turmeric (without consulting a physician first): pregnant or nursing women, people with a history of gout.
    Also, fresh turmeric root and powdered turmeric are very different than curcumin sold in tablets and should not be used interchangeably. Unless specifically directed by a physician, stick with the dietary forms.

    Oh Berta, I was so ready to give this a try until you read off who shouldn't do this. lol I have RA and Lupus, so was thinking it would be great for me to have before bed. Then you said about kidney stones. I had about 10 year or more of kidney stones. Haven't had one in a while though, but will get salutatory stones which are just as painful, so I drink lot of water to keep them from forming. I do use turmeric on my avocado toast as well as my eggs. I still might try this, just not to it often maybe. I don't know, but it sure looks good. Thanks for always being a wealth of knowledge and sharing that knowledge! Hugs, Brenda

    Berta, This is a delightful & healthy golden milk recipe w/one caveat. Ground turmeric even organic forms has been found to have high levels of lead. This has been published in multiple medical sources by multiple labs. The FDA has no way to assure us of the safety of imported herbs/spices, but various labs have detected the lead.
    Therefore it is far better to buy the whole root (which stains everything so be careful) & shred it. No need to peel.
    If you’d like my sources, pls let me know. Stay well!

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  4 года назад

      You can drink golden milk everyday.
      I am not a doctor or trained health professional but take a look at the articles at these links:
      1) www.healthline.com/health/turmeric-tea-benefits
      2) www.healthline.com/health/food-nutrition/turmeric-tea-latte-golden#1
      Keep in mind this information if it fits you:
      Potential risks and complications
      Turmeric is generally safe as long as you consume it in moderation. You should check with your doctor about drinking turmeric tea if you have had:
      inflammation of the gallbladder or gallbladder stones
      obstruction of bile passages
      stomach ulcers
      diabetes (turmeric supplements may lower blood sugar)
      Taking too much turmeric may cause side effects, however. These include: a) increased stomach acidity, which can cause ulcers
      a blood-thinning effect
      Because turmeric may thin your blood, you should stop drinking turmeric tea two weeks before surgery. Do not take turmeric tea if you are on blood thinners, either.
      Thanks for your question,Janett. I hope this answer helps you.

      I found this on a Google search about the lifespan of spices: "Over time, spices will lose their potency and not flavor your food as intended. So exactly how long do spices last? As a general rule, whole spices will stay fresh for about 4 years, ground spices for about 2 to 3 years and dried herbs for 1 to 3 years." I hope this helps, Leona. Great hearing from you, as always.

    Quick Question: I know you made your own milk. But normally the Almond milk has 220g of sodium. So with the little amount of golden milk spice will it even help.

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  5 лет назад

      I am not sure, but the fact that you will be drinking more turmeric than you did before, won't the amount of turmeric that you DO ingest be a benefit to your body?
      Remember I am not a doctor or health-care professional. I share what has truly worked for me and this does. with my homemade almond milk.
