      @Berta Jay I know you're trying to help people save money & not be wasteful, however my main concern is that once vegetables/fruit are cut they begin to lose their nutrients, minerals & flavour 🤔 So I would suggest people buy less & more often, using supplies as fresh as possible for the greatest benefits.

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  5 лет назад +8

      @@sarahsharma2627 I honestly appreciate your concern, Sharma. But I have a question for you.
      Which is worse? An overweight/unhealthy/sick person who is finally making better food choices MOST of the time and using this tip to have something prepared ahead of time
      -OR-
      An o/u/s person knowing they have to chop up their foods because they don't want to LOSE precious nutrients/minerals and flavor EACH TIME that one wants a salad or steamed food?
      I know because I have been there and though I have not yet reached my goal weight, I know I feel better using this tip every day even with lost n, m and f.
      Again, thank you for voicing your concern and those who want to do things as you suggest...can 😊

    Thanks, Berta, you’re wonderful to watch. I love how you obviously work out of your kitchen and not out of a super flash, decked out in modern appliances, sort of kitchen. Your idea of letting wet paper towels dry and re-using them is wonderful. We throw too much away nowadays. Just a little tip from someone who owns a worm farm - I put my veggie waste (except citrus, chillies, onions and garlic etc) into my worm bin and I toss my ‘beyond saving’ paper towels in there for the worms too. Thanks and Kia Ora from New Zealand. Bless you.

    Thank You! Thank You!! I saw your video about keeping salad crispy for a week~ I've been doing it only on a larger scale so that I have 2 massive sa/lads per day for three days. The additional smaller containers maintain the variety, the flavors, and the color/texture I require. Scallions, drained black beans, drained navy beans, drained artichoke hearts, pickled beets, sliced black olives, dill pickle spears, grated carrot, cheese, and more. Not all at the same time, of course, but each day as a container runs out I add something different. This is the first time I've been able to stick to my diet. Again, Thanks for sharing!

    I eat a lot of red onions and I don't think that I could do that ceramic container storage to quell the smell. I realized that storing kale in your refrigerator eliminates any odor. To keep kale crisp use one plastic bag to store it and a few drops of water then seal with a tie and put that bag in an empty baggie, so basically 2 baggies. I use the ones from the grocery store that are free:) Thanks for all your tips. I really like your hair, too. Longer or shorter, just lovely hair!

    Saw a tip for storing scallions the other day. The vlogger cut up her scallions-both white & green parts-and then froze them! She always had them at the ready & they never got slimy (like lettuce greens so often do; loved that vid you did btw). Thought you’d like that idea too. Scallions go bad so quickly it’s frustrating.

    Hello Berta,
    please do not throw away the root part of the green onions. This next tip can also work for garlic, leeks ect. If there are enough roots you can pot them & they will start to grow again & you'll have veggies again & again. This works especially well with leeks. If they have little root you may have to put them in a glass with water first, like you would do with flowers, then they grow bigger roots & they can be planted.
    I've heard from others that treating them like flowers can keep green onions fresh, but i haven't tried it myself yet.
    Thank you for your channel & video's.

      Well, Galaxi, I would say the salt and sugar is great but there are very beneficial carbs that can help you lose weight and get healthy. Try looking at videos on this site:
      nutritionfacts.org/
      This man is a board certified doctor who loves to do research on any topic concerning health and wellness. Just put 'Carbs' in the search bar on his site and start reading. Then see if you can get a hold of "Forks Over Knives" the video. It could change your life...it did mine. These are all suggestions because, as i always say..."I'm not a doctor but I do like to read." Thanks, Galaxi for your comment. Hope my reply will help you in some small way. 🙂
