- Golden Milk: Turmeric and Ginger Tea with Coconut Milk
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
1 1-inch knob fresh turmeric
1 1/2-inch knob fresh ginger
4 black peppercorns
2 teaspoons ghee*
1 cup full-fat coconut milk
1 cup coconut water
1 tablespoon raw honey
pinch of salt
DIRECTIONS
Dice your ginger and turmeric into small pieces and pulverize them in a mortar with the peppercorns; alternatively you can grate them or dice them into tiny pieces and smash the pepper with the back of your knife.
Pour the coconut milk, coconut water and ghee into a saucepan, add in your turmeric paste and salt; set over a medium-high burner just until little bubbles just begin to creep up the sides of the pot. Turn off the heat, cover the saucepan and allow your tea to steep about 3 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer or tea strainer into your cup. Stir in the honey and enjoy warm.
Notes
Golden Milk is traditionally made with cow's milk. If you wish to omit the coconut milk and coconut water, simply substitute 2 cups whole milk.
If you cannot find fresh turmeric, substitute 2 teaspoons organic powdered turmeric.

Love your videos, thanks you so much. Your chanel is fantastic. Greetings from England.
This seems like something my wife would love!
Looks like you need to pamper her tonight with a cup of golden milk.
FRESH PRINCESS agreed!

That looks wonderful Corrin! I'll have to try it this fall when I harvest my turmeric!
Oh you're so lucky!!! Enjoy it.
A friend gave me 4, 2" pieces of fresh Turmeric root last fall, so I planted them, in a pot, I just moved the pot out side last week...
Maybe I should try it. What's your zone?
What a positive, uplifting video... I will be making this soon, my local Sprouts has fresh turmiric and I have been dying for a way to use it.
OMG.... Can't wait 2 try this !
It looks great and 2 day You even look better ! Wow.....
I was feeling a little down, Thank you 4 getting my motor running....;) lol
Thank you for this awesome video !! I haven't had this in a few years.. Tumeric used to do wonders for my allergies. This is the most soothing, comforting drink! have been away but am on a binge of watching all your latest videos. Your videos give me so much comfort :)
That's so nice to read. Thank you.
you are welcome! I can't wait to try your raw brownies!
I've been taking Doctor's Best Curcumin with meals for years. Stopped taking it for a time to see if it was actually doing any good. Uric acid and cholesterol went up in the labs since. Joint pain from an old injury in the mornings after a month of no curcumin. Immediately got back into the routine of taking it to see what results on the next labs. I'll have to give one of those two you've listed above a try once this bottle runs out. And I'll definitely give this recipe a try too! Thanks for sharing with us!
TheASTrader You're welcome. There is a third lab that makes a bioavailable supplement but their price point was much higher, so i got the cheeper of the bunch. But now I'm curious to know if it is more effective than juicing fresh turmeric? I'd much rather take the fresh stuff than the capsules.
TheASTrader Interesting, thank you for sharing. My body is an experiment as well.
I always been normal weight but always suffered from inflammation around the belly. It always bothered me. Now I am taking immunotherapy because I happen to be allergic to most foods, and still taking claratin I get this flammatory issues. I just heard about this root and excited to try and natural remedies.
Turmeric is one of the best anti inflammatory substances you can take. Have you cut out gluten? Are you eating fermented foods to support your gut health? My latest video is about a cleanse series I'll be doing this October, check it out and join us this fall. Leave your questions below and we'll do our best to address them.
my mom is trying to ferment turmeric this year, like vinegar...this sounds delicious.
+dirtpatcheaven Is she making a turmeric bug? You can also use ginger and use it to make probiotic 'sodas'. I LOVE your Momma and want to see me ore her. Do you have other videos with her?
+FRESH PRINCESS probiotic soda is on the agenda this summer :)
Oh yay! Are you going with kefir?
I am thinking so. Have you heard of a book titled True Brews?
No, tell me more.
This is weird. I have been quite ill the last few days and just a few minutes before I watched this video a friend on FB sent me this message : Young man, I'd like to see you treated. Perhaps a "Z" pack is necessary. Meanwhile, turmeric, ginger, coconut milk, honey, & black pepper.(warm)
Never heard of it and thank you for this informative video about it...and for being there when there was where I needed you most :)
paul august This is the best comment all week. Get well my friend, I wish I was there to make you some.
Laughing. Ok, here's a small monkey for you: www.etsy.com/listing/157819882/pocket-monkey-toy-knitting-pattern?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=small%20monkey&ref=sr_gallery_20
FRESH PRINCESS You have no idea how awesome that is!!!! I have a friend who owes me a tiny Brain Slug Hat (that's a story in itself) but she only knits and they are crocheted. I am going to download the pattern and send it to her.
Thanks for solving two of my situations today :) You're Awesome!
When you live from an open heart, this is just how the universe works. Get better and send me a photo of your new pocket prize.

Amazing! Love everything you and your brother Mr Wanglerstar do! I am grateful for being part of your family's journey.
Your videos are such an indulgence for me. You do such a lovely job! It's clear you take a lot of time to get it right, and this one had me drooling. I wanted to sip from that mug SO much! And that jar of honey... I swear, it charmed me! Like this glassy little golden jewel. Simple beauty. Such the beautiful Creator Soul you are! They are my favorite kind of Souls you know. You're a real class act Fresh P!
Ah Sweet One, that little jar was from my Nana. It's one of the few kitchen items of hers that I have. I love it too. Thanks for your sweet, sweet words. I love that you are here.

+BM W I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You're welcome.
OH MY GOD!!! Where having you been all my life?! I have heard of the medicinal properties that turmeric has but I have been wasting my because I have been making it wrong... Does coco oil count as fat salable? I believe so... And the peppercorn; Genius!!! I will be making this stuff this instant!!!
Good stuff!
Thats who you are, Love, Love. I have to step it up for hip pain. I get capsules from Sunfoods, used to be owned by David Wolfe. How many mgs to you use?
I ran out a couple days ago so I'll have to pick up another container of it to get the dosage for you. Don't let me forget.

For travel tips to Mexico... Travel light and heart & mind open!!!! Te amo mucho!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
AWESOME Recipe, Golden Milk,....definitely worth trying out, something tells me this Golden Milk will grow on ya, but is it just a homemade remedy to drink from time to time? A Hot drink,......but could it also be drunk cold? Thumbs up FRESH P, thanks for sharin'! :)
Joe Serrano It so delicious. It would be very beneficial as a daily drink. I think if we drank golden milk in leu of coffee or tea, we'd be doing our body a favor. It tastes mildly of ginger tea and curry, but without the spice. it's really lovely.
Thank you Fresh P. What a timely video. I have been taking Curcumin this past week due to an injury and having to take a over the counter pain medication, I was so pleased to learn that one of the properties was to cleanse the liver. Amazing!
Sheila Morse It's wonderful. Thanks for sharing this. I was surprised to find thousands of studies applauding it's properties and yet, so little is talked about. I'm glad you found it.
your hair look beautiful i sell organic teas and spices.
michelle from down under in bundy Thank you. In the summer I let it go wild ;)
Well I guess I'm going to be making a mortar and pestle today as my sick day project!
Domo
+StuInTokyo post a photo. I bet it will be beautiful.
ablett.jp/gallery/index.php/Motar_Pestle
+FRESH PRINCESS OK I made the Golden Milk, wow, I see why even Cody likes it!!
I hope that Costco has some decent Coconut milk and water, or it will get expensive fast here buying small packages ot it.
I did make one mistake, I guess I mixed up what I was supposed to do and I put the Golden Milk through my wife's tofu making bag..... yeah.... it's BRIGHT Yellow now.... :O I guess I'll just have to get her a new one.
Domo
Sounds like you just procured yourself a golden milk bag :)
It's also good for almond milk.
turmeric is used more in the west than you think. Hint "French's Mustard"
mountainmanwoodworks And yellow food coloring.
Photos are beautiful, you make everything you cook/make irresistible. A must try! Thanks for all the research you're passing on!
the patent thing is the reason why MOST things aren't tested, but have been working for thousands of years... James Wong has a great series from the BBC - on youtube now, called make your own drugs... he explores quite a few of the plants and some of the things you can use them for...
Thanks for the series. I love it.
being a foodie you might also like Dinner at Kew... there are a few bbc series' that revolve around Kew Gardens in London... as a plant nut, i just can't get enough - and they're all on youtube!
is there a vegan substitute for ghee? could i use earth balance olive oil spread? that's what i use in place of regular butter. this looks delicious and i cant wait to try it!
Coconut oil would be fine.
I am a Wranglerstar subscriber. Thank you for this recipe. I'll be trying more and watching more of your videos. Hopefully I'll be able to make my household healthier. I'm beginning a weight loss exercise program as well as a healthier lifestyle. I have gained over 60 lbs in the last year and really need to turn my health around. Thanks again.
Can you use Turmeric powder if you don't have turmeric root?
Of course you can. It's just as delicious.
Sounds like it would be really good and even better with a good book. It makes me wonder if there would be a way to incorporate the health benefits of cardamom into this?
Michael Wilson Yes, add it. it would be delicious.
I feel in love with cardamom lattes a few years ago and now cardamom is one of my all time favorite spices.
Persian cardamon tea with lots of milk is one of my favorites.
haven't had that joy yet
Gorgeous recipe. I've been eating so much Turmeric lately but there's no way I can get fresh atm. It's amazing added to soups though! I made a big blended soup yesterday: potatoes, onions, a lot of carrots, fennel, some celery, coconut milk, vegetable stock, salt, pepper, turmeric. Very anti inflammatory, vegan and delicious! Sometimes I add chicken too.
algreen Good on ya! It's such a wonderful ingredient.
Hmmm, Could you use coffee instead of tea?
There is no tea in this recipe. The roots are the 'tea'.
I've made something similar to this in the past. But instead of coconut milk, I just used a nice black tea. Definitely helped me get through the sick I was feeling at the time. Great idea using the coconut milk though, I'm going to give that a whirl next time! Cheers!
+Canadian Sasquatch It's delicious. I think I'll make some this afternoon.
I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about liking this drink. I've known about it for a couple of years, but was never brave enough to try it.
What I found is that this drink is AMAZING!😋
I have a question, though. I live in a rural area so I cannot get fresh turmeric and I know I can sub organic powdered, which I do, but what about subbing powdered organic ginger for the root?
I don't have a problem finding it, but I wondered if I was out, and in a pinch, if it would work?
Thanks!😊
+Pammie Doodle of course it will work. You could even measure out a large batch of both and just use S scoop of you turmeric/ginger mix. I'm so glad you enjoy it. I love it too.
+FRESH PRINCESS Thank you!
I hope your feeling better, too😊
God Bless🙏
+Pammie Doodle you're, not your....!
Your brother is amazing... Must run in the family. look forward to more vids.
Can you omit the honey and still get all the benefits. I really don't like sweet things in the morning unless I'm having it in tea. I drink black coffee mostly for taste.
+Debora Pettigrew absolutely!! I'm not a big fan of sweet foods early, so I add in a tiny bit to compensate for the bitter turmeric. But you can certainly tailor it to your liking.
I had a really terrible fall a couple of months ago and it has been taking a very long time for my leg to heal. I wonder if this tea would help speed up the healing process? I am going to give this a try. Thank you for posting another great recipe Fresh P!
misstine71 Oh I hope it does. Legs are tough ad don't heal as quickly as our other parts. I hope you are on the mend and you drink in the healing love in this brew. XoXo
FRESH PRINCESS Thank you :)
Can a larger amount be made to keep a few days or a week to have ready to go?
+Kylev87 absolutely. Let the ginger and turmeric steep and strain it as you drink it.
in place of black pepper could you sub white pepper? a less hot flavor for some.that seem intolerant to the outer portion of pepper..
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piperine
According to this both black and white pepper contains pipeline. Since it's what gives black pepper it's pungency, I'd venture to guess its more prevalent in black pepper, but still exist any in the seed (white pepper).
watch the prices go up...
how are your coffe cups hung
+Matt cup hooks
Pulverizing? Lol! Drink is good
I will be adding your page to my FB page! My friend are going to LOVE you!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this information. I love golden milk and have been enjoying it for awhile now. Off topic but I am curious where your salt bowl comes from? It's so beautiful! Thanks again for sharing. I will check out your other videos.
+nicip79 Hi Sweet One, thanks for your lovely comment. I'm going to go in and make a cup now. ;) My salt bowls were purchased from local wood turners that sell here during the fall, both have moved on and I no longer have contact info for them, but if you seek out a local wood turner, I bet he/she could make you one. I look forward to having you here.
can you please give amounts for powered versions and can i use coconut oil in place of ghee
+aqua fina how ever much you like, taste and adjust. Of course.
+FRESH PRINCESS thx..i love ginger and coconut i cant wait to try this.. is coconut oil ok in place of ghee?
+aqua fina yes.
Just wondering, do you know roughly how much black pepper you should be eating with the turmeric to allow it to get properly absorbed?
+Justeen it's a compound in pepper so I wouldn't think it would take much. A grind or two is my approach
Thanks sis
So I wonder if you could use coconut oil to replace the Gee (SP?)
My experience with Turmeric. I have several degenerative issues. My neck & spine is degenerating. Along with a couple of herniated disks. This causes me to be in pain most of the time. I've done a ton of things to try & cut the pain. I've tried several of the homeopathic remedies with limited success.
We happen to have a homeopathic pharmacy down the street. The DR told me to try an off the shelf product that he's had a lot of success with. The main ingredient is Turmeric. The product is called D-Flame by the company NOW. It took a while but I've seen a marked decrease in inflammation & pain. I'm a bit more Mobil now. So I though that I would add my 2 cents...LOL
I will have to try your tea as I like coconut & I have dried turmeric. I will probably sub coconut oil for the Gee though...LOL
Thanks for the tip...:)
1timby Someone didn't read the recipe below the video... laughing. yes, coconut oil is my substitution for ghee.
1timby This is so wonderful, thank you so much for sharing this. It's wonderful stuff and looks like you have a good pharmacy nearby. :)
FRESH PRINCESS I stand corrected...LOL
I'm not a vegan...LOL
You don't need to be.
FRESH PRINCESS Supper was home made miso soup...LOL
Recently bought a really nice chunk of goat butter.
I'm amazingly surprised by it. It's more delicate and very tasty.
Makes me wonder what it will be like to make ghee out of goat butter...
hmm.
The tea looks soothing =]
BravingTheOutDoors It will be delicious.
Due to work I don't usually have the luxury of making this nightly however I need it nightly. Do you know how long it would last if I stored it in a sealed mason jar?
Tracy Bruring If you refrigerated it, you could get 4 days out of it.
Tracy Bruring You might like this recipe, if you make the paste it will last 2 weeks refrigerated: ruclips.net/video/jYCQb2YNGt4/видео.html
Wonderful. I did the paste as well but jeez sometimes I get hime, mow, care for animals, clean and drop in bed; this is very important for me due to a recent diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis. I can do every 4 days; then I will have a jar to grab and go; thank you very much
You're welcome. i hope it helps. What if you pull out the lawn? No mowing, more time for you.
I really do love mowing; on my 3 acres it takes a while this time of year however it fills me with peace, i get a chance to look at stuff around the yard etc so that really is my time for me;
I seen over on your Instagram page that you canned asparagus. Any chance you filmed it?
L Porter I did not. we had 20lbs of asparagus and 4lbs of mushrooms to put up in a day and I needed every second of that day to get it done.
Wow that's a lot of asparagus! Do you pickle it?
L Porter We pickled it in olive oil and vinegar. Antipaste style.
Oh that sounds great!
Anything in your research about helping with gout?
Greyman Zink Isn't gout dietary in nature?
It's the body's inability to expel uric acid from the system, and it builds up in the joints causing inflammation.
Turmeric is good for detoxifying the liver, it certainly would be worth a try.
Thanks, Corine.
I've been told that in the Ayurvedic traditions, they do not cook with honey - nor do they add it to hot drinks, that it becomes toxic to the stomach. Have you heard of this?
+Bella Cirovic I've never heard that. When I get home I'll check my books.
Btw- I would lovvvvvvve to take a hands on cheese making class while I am in SMA...! I don't think that should be too hard to find???
Luckily I am Latin and speak fluent Spanish- maybe I can ask the natives where I can go....;))))🍴🎈🍴🎈🍴🎈🍴🎈🍴🎈🍴🎈🍴
Yes, they will find someone for you.
