people forget that back at the times their identity was unknown and the mistery they created was something unique very hard to explain if you didn't live it.
Very True.
It was THE mystery to 9 year old me! World on fire?! Who cares about that!! We need to KNOW who the members of KISS are!! 😂
All these Fans are 50, 55 to 60 years old now
I am 54 ..... Blessings 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 from PERÚ ❤
I was there at both of those concerts July 24 and 25 1979 at MSG. I was 13 years old . 58 now .
July 25 for me New England opened! Same age!
I was 13 at my first kiss concert too, but it was jan 1988. Worcestor Centrum when they filmed the turn on the night video
were you from Long Island or New Jersey ?
@@LannieLord The Bronx
New England was a great band
My first concert. I was 10. Saw them in Toronto. I remember them rising from the floor and completely losing my mind. My heroes were in front of me.
I knew that feeling at 9. Mesmerized.
@@MENFUSSMIKEHad to be there and around that age to appreciate their larger than life personas.
I saw Kiss on this tour in September 1979 at the Civic Center in Huntington, West Virginia, Totally Packed and Judas Priest opened. I was 7 years old and I'm 51 now. Lol. Tickets were only $10 So my family of 5 cost $50 altogether. Girls were hotter in the 1970's and 80's. Just Saying.
Me too Judas opened it was my first concert , I saw it in Massachusetts
Wow, thanks for sharing that, it must have been an incredible experience!
Funny, my first KISS show was just down the road in Charleston in 76 when I was 13
Nassau Coliseum 9/79, also Priest opening.
So cool. I can hear Priest in the background in this clip. Must have been a great show.
At the time of this I was a 7 year old full on Kiss fanatic. My first band I loved.
I was seven as well and seen this tour at market square arena in Indianapolis... I had my sparkly belt buckle and Bruce Jenner tennis shoes on... I'll never forget hearing wings, " silly love songs" on the radio as we pulled up... tickets were $10... sooo loud!
And as much as I support kids loving Music, KISS was not for children...until they sold out.
4:28 Holy Crap! That camera with the long flash bulbs. I remember those. Man I'm old.
I believe those were Kodak or Polaroid 110s. I'm Olde, also.
They Rocked Chicago's All-State Arena last week. My Only Time seeing them; went with my GF and her brother.
⚡️🔥💀 ✨️ 🖤 🎶 🤘
Saw kiss in Toronto in 1979.
Wild show
I still have my ticket stub from this tour. I was 16.
This tour was my first show also. I was 13. Seems like yesterday, doesn't it?
Me too! I was 11 at the time
I'm happy to have seen the original members play together during the first farewell tour in 99 or 2000. The first time I ever saw or heard of KISS was the Unplugged show on Mtv in 96. I was 14 at the time and totally fell in love with the band and their history. I bought all the KISS CDs, VHS tapes and media I could get my hands on.
I was there! My very first KISS concert...
You are all lucky people. I'm 52 and never experienced them live with original guys, but I have been blessed to have seen them with Eric and Bruce 1st then in makeup with the other guys a few years ago. Thank you for sharing.
Not to brag but I am a General in the KISS army!!!
Saw them in Ronoke, Virginia in 1979 at age 18. They rose out of the stage floor on lifts. Pretty cool. Never saw that since.
I saw them on the Love Gun/Alive II tour, and then never again until this month. Kiss army forever.
I was 14 at the time when I seen this tour in July '79 Cheap Trick opened it was great ❤
Cheap Trick...one of the best bands to tour with KISS
@@MENFUSSMIKELoved Cheap Trick even more. Came up to my city in Canada but I was young and no one to take me. Live at Japan was one of my absolute favourite hard rock albums growing up,
Saw them in July as well, but as it was a fill in date cuz they didn't sell enough MSG tix, I got New England.
I was robbed!😕
@@MENFUSSMIKERush was THE best band to tour with them. Never got to see Rush perform. Wish I had.
Cincinnati, Ohio show. Just entering high school. Remarkable. Too cool.
Saw this tour in Nashville. Gene flicked a pick at this guy beside us who had the 'fro rockin', the pick stuck in his hair, and people started ripping his hair out trying to get the pick. Hilarious. Still got the polaroids of Gene breathing fire and the like. Awesome show!
😂
Cool story fro...I mean...cool story bro
Hard to believe 45 years ago, I remember after the solo albums. Excellent job 👍🙏🍁
44 years ago not 45
isnt it amazing that we all got to grow up with these bands?
BUT, many many KISS fans left them by High School and later.
@@LannieLord i pretty much did...I saw them everytime they came through town afterwards but wasnt ga ga over them
I saw the best concert in the world! It was at Madison Square Garden in New York City!! Man, it was the ultimate show ever! You never saw a concert until you saw one at Madison Square Garden New York City for real!!!
I will be there December 2nd
Glad to say; I'll be in attendance at *Madison Square Garden* - December 2 .....to witness,.... *KISS* _TORY_ !!! 🤘
I liked Gene's makeup in this era.
Dynasty, my first KISS album!🤟🏼🎸🍻
My last Kiss album.
My first Album too I was 12, Still my favorite- it links me to KISS in '79 now 57 but the band lost me after revenge.
Destroyer was my .. i was 8
@@tcarbonimusicMy next Kiss album
Their debut, Destroyer and Love Gun. Three essentials for me. Can still remember the summer I listened to the Love Gun album all the time. 10 or 11 yrs old but a major rocker then and now 🎸😎🇨🇦
I seen them on this tour Selland Arena November 27th 1979. Fresno,California ..note to self I was 10yrs Old….now the ripe age of 54🤑
Saw them Oct 4 1979 in Des Moines,Iowa at 11yrs old. Spent the day outside in a crowd of KISS maniacs….while secretly wondering if the band members were hanging out with us incognito. John Cougar opened. The media hype was so intense back then that it didn’t seem real when they emerged from the stage floor.
I saw them on this tour. There very last show of the tour in Toledo, Ohio. They had a big bash at Harvey's hotel after the show to celebrate the end of the tour. December 16,1979.
in his book, paul describes this as the biggest concert of his career to that date
wow- can u imagine my wife was born that year- over 40 years later she saw them 2022 in europe and is a big fan- amazing🤩why the guitar was burnin??
8.12.79 Memphis. I was mesmerized
My first introduction to KISS was from a friend shortly after KISSology: Volume 1 came out, my friend then decided to sell me his entire KISS cd collection because he felt he "outgrew" the music, so I asked for Volume 1 to be included since that was the case, and he said "only if you give me 40 dollars for it" and I said no, because it was used, and he had told me brand new he paid 20 for it. I sadly have not been to a live performance ever for this band. Tickets are always crazy expensive here in CA, especially in cities like San Diego where they don't normally play. We wanted the best, and we got the best.
you missed out
Saw the Dynasty tour in Birmingham Alabama August 16 1979. My second ever concert. First was Elvis Presley.
ELVIS ! Now THAT is something larger than life.
That moment at 3:48 where the security guy puts his hand on Gene's chest to have him hold up for a second.
Holy smokes....if looks could kill! 😅🤣
Well, he is wearing his make up - his design always looks like it kills. He wasn't mad, he was more confused and looking to see why the guy made him stop.
when I saw them on this tour they all rose up from the stage behind the drums
That brings back memories. I was 7 years old when that video was made . I had already seen them 2 years before and it changed my life . A few weeks ago I seen them on the end of the road tour and it was awesome. I do wish Ace and Peter could have been if only for a few songs but that's show business.
KISS died in 1978. You saw a bad tribute band trying to pay debts in 2023.
@@Mozart1220 KISS will outlive us ALL!!!
When Ace shouts, "Rock 'n Roll!" I couldn't help but picture Spinal Tap getting lost backstage.
1979, the end of an era. After a slight disco-backlash, the 1980's brought in a wave of hard rock and heavy metal that topped the mainstream charts. After their departures from Kiss, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley pursued solo careers while Paul and Gene slugged along in Kiss, eventually hitting the Top 40 success eleven years later in 1990 with hit powerballad, Forever.
I wonder how many of the fans at this concert are still KISS fans today(??)
I wasn't at that concert but I was obsessed with Kiss back then. Not so now. I've grow up and it all looks very, very silly now. I can't really imagine what I saw in them.
Imagine seeing yourself in the audience while watching this video all these years later.
I am.
Kiss Army and the Flaming Youth, set the world on fire!
Ace with his Spinal Tap Shout was hilarious 😂
Sounded just like Nigel:)
I remember when I was made for loving you was first on the radio…. I was just a little dude back then lol probably 9
Very cool footage!
Since 1979 i was KISS Fan.....
In Utrecht Netherlands,
i saw them last time w full mask Original !
Happy to see them ....and then tears are falling ...
NO Kiss without Ace&Peter !
I was at MSG, in 1979
My first KISS encounter was in the late 70's. I was a ward of the state and lived in a home for abandoned/abused children. Somebody had some KISS trading cards and I'll never forget this one card that scared the crap out of me. It was a live shot of them on stage and on each side of the stage was a winged serpent. They were larger than life. Although they frightened me as a kid I have grown up and learned to admire thier story, grit and determination to become to a great band that gave the people what they want.
Seen this tour in Providence RI with mom..I was 12..still have the ticket stub..I will never forget it..thanks mom
I saw that show, with New England as the warm up band.
Saw them on this tour in Buffalo N.Y. August 8 1979,it was my first concert.
New England was the opening band.
New England opened these shows at the garden. They were awesome. I think they still play occasionally in Massachusetts
@@Cape-Dweller I saw the show in Providence with New England opening. I'm not sure if they still do shows, they broke up decades ago. But, I did run into their drummer Hirsh Gardener working behind the counter at Daddy's Junky Music in Boston when I went there to buy a bass drum pedal in 2006. I recognized him and said "Aren't you Hirsh from New England?" His face lit right up and we spent a few minutes talking about that show and the Kiss tour with them opening. Very nice guy.
@@DB-kl9bpwhen I bought the Walking Wild lp I couldn’t wait for the next tour. Didn’t hear a word about it so I wrote a letter to the fan mail address on the back of the cover and I received a hand written picture postcard (photo from back of Explorer Suite) from Hirsh Gardner. Still one of my prized possessions.
This was the best Kiss costume era. Paul looks nervous, Gene looks downbeat as well. As we know now this is right on the cusp of Peter calling it quits.
And the band turning into a bad tribute band.
This was a hometown show, and, I’m sure that means you have a little more nerves. Playing in front of the family and friends.
Yup; they sucked after 1980.
I'm not a big KISS fan; however I'm pretty sure others here will call those "fighting words" - what you just said ! LOL . Personally , as a casual KISS fan: If the broke up right after this tour - they would have gone out "on top" more or less. @@VerifiedVIPMember
You mean Peter being fired...
Haha...I love the look of pure annoyance on Debra's ( Peter's wife ) face at 2:02😝
All that cocaine must’ve had her in a bad mood. I could be wrong, just a thought.
LOL my thoughts exactly!! Was she actually happy being with Peter?! haha
By the way I heard she wrote a great book about the times with Kiss.
i had the kiss make-up kit back in the day. now i need the kiss time machine.
This was July 24th & 25th 1979 and the opening band was called New England.
Great band, they should have been huge
4:58 - John Candy 🎉
lol
Actually it could be him.
Saw kiss on this tour in Louisville ky at freedom hall!
Saw the Dynasty tour in Massachusetts
3:46 lol Gene being really into his "demon" persona and the getting stopped by that guy's hand and just looking over with that confused face. Then he gets right back into the persona by sticking his tongue out. It's honestly so wholesome in a way.
Cool I was at the show 15 years old my first show with my friends
Holy Polyester,Batman!!I actually remember wearing stuff like that to school....Thanks Mom....
Saw this tour in St Louis. John Cougar opened. I was 8
John Cougar was around in 79?
@@mikeb2611 yes. His big hit was I Need a Lover that Won't Drive Me Crazy
NICE time capsule! AWK! \m/
"The Original the True and the Great KISS"
Ahh yes, the OG Kiss ! 💯
I was always a big Paul fan but looking back on some of the older videos I never realised how hot Ace was 🥰
Watching the video at least his guitar was 😀
Yeah seen that before….thank it’s got a part 2….Keep rocking
At this point, Kiss was nothin more than a Vegas act !! But, you had to live during that time to realize just how Larger than Life Kiss truly were !!
Ace, rock and roll! 😆🤘
I saw this concert in Toronto.. I was 15yrs old and it was my first BIG concert... I think I set a bit of a bench mark with this one!! All others paled in comparison...
They toured Australia for the first time with this set ( post Peter ) . IT was amazing for us all and we embraced the band . Peter could have had it all, but was never satisfied . Ace was charged up as usual , and Gene & Paul ? Being what they were/are . IT was great time and the Album was not that bad . Amazing time .
When meet and greets were free.
Oh! To have been backstage! I might have been in the audience at least!
Saw them Toronto on this tour peter still behind the kit
Awesome footage. Curt Gooch is probably crying in his pillow watching this knowing that if he takes this down KISS will sue him again
never liked that guy
I always like to see the Paul's face when Ace tricks ahahahah
My first real concert I was 15
I wonder what does the lady carrying at 3:10. Looks like a wig :)
It almost looked like a small mannequin/doll with a wig? or?
They were done after 1980.
I have Dinasty kiss teddy bears collection. My favourite álbum and costums
I saw this tour with Priest opening. Imagine Paul prancing around in his girlfriend's leotard after Halford just brought the house down. Priest blew Kiss off the stage. This was a sad time for kiss fans. But, then they eventually put out Lick it Up and all was well again
The Elder and Creatures > Lick It Up
I was there for one of the nights, wonder if it was this one.
I liked the Dynasty album very much but the Dynasty era Las Vegas showgirls outfits, not so much. And wearing capes, no!!!
No wonder Paul hated those outfits
The chicks were way hotter back then.
I only clicked on this because I thought the guy with the green shirt was Capt Lou Albano
this has a real spinal tappy "hello cleveland!" vibe LOL
The tough look disappeared.
I think, without Ace it never happened the way and success it was. Without His playing, they would have gone nowhere. Though, because all of His faults and Addiction Struggeling, HE was the Kiss Sound in the Seventys and a Talent in old school Playing Like the Yardbirds, Zeppelin, etc. Definitely a great person
Was this footage originally inn widescreen or was it cropped for RUclips??
Captain Lou Albano in the house!
I wanna see that show, is it out there somewhere?
Love from Sweden 💖
I just thought the same !!!??? Love from Finland
Notice Peter's future wife @2:00? Saw the camera and left! He was still married.
4:38 Ace said "Rocknroll!!!'
When kiss sold out to disco
Two people in the cheering section look like Susanna Hoffs and Victoria Peterson from the Bangles.
Never saw KISS live.
Very little chance of that now. They are live streaming their final concert from Madison Square Garden though.
What was that women carrying in a blanket around the 3:15 mark or so ?
i remember seeing this show at 10 yrs old thinking why are they opening with King Of The Night Time World?????
Wonder if any of these roadies or backstage crew members are still with the band nowadays during there final tour
No
I would love to have one of those road crew or security shirts from that era in my size. I saw that tour a few times. Never much cared for the capes though.
That time they threw the color in
Kinda funny when you think about it, the ppl in the audience are all late 50's to in their 70's and grandkids now, Me, im 50fkn9 & going with my fiance to see KISS on Nov 25th
Paul looks very nervous. I think anybody would feel that way getting ready to perform in front of a large audience.
