Eric’s father asked me if I wanted to purchase his Porsche back in the 90s when they had their store in the Orange Plaza mall in Middletown NY. He was selling it for $30k. I could not afford it at that time. It was an honor meeting his parents. I own sealed autographed drumsticks. Miss you Eric. You were a beast on the drums. RIP.
Do you know what his family is doing? Is his running the official Eric Carr shop in the web? What an honor that you met them and got a relict of Eric Carr, god bless him
After Orange Plaza, they had a store in the Dutchess Mall in Fishkill, then a space at the flea market after the mall closed down. I spoke with them there on several occasions. Once was right around the time of Eric's passing. The Caravellos, my wife & I all had a needed hug & cry session. It was very surreal for me at the time, standing there hugging Eric Carr's Mom & Dad as we all blubbered on each other's shoulders. They gave me a set of his signed sticks. They were great people.
I was a manager at the rehearsal studio where Eric used to rehearse with his girlfriend's all girl band because they didn't have a drummer. I remember that car well. When Eric walked in his hair barely fit through the door. He was a really nice guy.
Eric and Bruce have to be the sweetest, most kind people to come out of Kiss. It's really sad to hear they were just employees. Both are talented beyond measure. I have always admired Bruce being so respectful of the Kiss legacy, namely not being a puppet riding Ace's coattails. Just a great guy and hell of a guitarist.
It's good to read all the nice comments about Eric Carr. Too often you only hear about the bad folks. You are never really gone until people stop remembering you... Eric will be around for a long time to come.
Saw Bruce and Eric on the " hot in the shade tour " . It was a great show. Saw Bruce again last year with Grand Funk. Good stuff ......... Bruce solo band rocks. Miss Eric Carr. RIP.
Saw them on back to back nights on Hot In The Shade in the summer of 1990, I turned 18 that summer. I was such a massive Kiss fan at the time. I saw then on The Crazy Nights tour, my very first concert. Great times.
@@JismIsm-en4kz I second that. While the original 4 members of KISS are certainly legends, none of the replacement members achieved that status. Freddie Mercury is the very DEFINITION of a legend (meaning all future generations will know who he was and what he did). Eric Carr was a good drummer that achieved fame and success. Legends are a completely separate category.
@@JismIsm-en4kz Freddie Mercury: Legend Jimi Hendrix: Legend Michael Jackson: Legend Janis Joplin: Legend Eric Carr: played drums for Kiss when they were a joke
Great video brother, thank you, I'm a big Bruce fan, fantastic player & human. Revenge is my favourite non Kiss make up album, awesome songwriting & heavy as sh*t! Bruce rips on that record, Unholy solo compliments the song, aggressive dark & evil...I also had the pleasure of seeing them on the Revenge tour, they were on fire that night, still in my top 5 concerts ever. Despite the feuds I'm still super grateful for Kiss, all periods of the band. Thanks again for the content mate, awesome watch. Subbed!
4:45 The tax shelter he discusses with something that Jimmy Carter’s administration had put into place; it was for people to invest in natural resources. They were given a tax break as an incentive to invest in things like solar energy, oil wells etc. Kiss weren’t the only ones to use this tax loophole. In fact, many other entertainers did that as well, and many others lost their shirts, too. What happened was, when the Reagan administration came into office, they vetoed the legitimacy of that tax shelter; not just at the time, but also retroactively- people were taxed accordingly, going back to their initial investment, and were fined also if they couldn’t pay it ASAP. Apparently, it was a huge mess they cost many people in Hollywood millions of dollars

You could pick those things up for like $7k in the mid 90's, lol. They were the sh**boxes of Porsche. They were made for people who weren't really into cars, but, wanted the ability to say they owned a Porsche.
I met Eric, Bruce, Paul And Gene in 1989 at the Ramada hotel in East Boston Massachsetts after their gig in Swansea New Hampshire. Great guys..Eric was so nice. I then in 1990 early 1991 mer Eric again in providence rhode island at a Kiss convention in the winter of that year, what a super gentleman Eric Carr was.. I miss him alot..😢
I think Paul and Gene had pretty steady money coming in all through the 80s-1996 through consistent back catalog record sales of the 20 something albums they put out in just the first 10 years of Kiss's existence. If Chris Lent was just the financial road manager he probably had not thought about that. I didn't get into Kiss until 1985 right before the Asylum album came out and I was buying a couple of Kiss albums on cassette and LP per month then a couple years later all on CD and I know there were many of us doing that
I had a Porsche 924 back in 2000.... The fuel injection (mechanical) was faulty ..I used to have to spray Aerostart into the induction to start it😅😅😅 Then I had a problem with the accelerator cable & had to order one from Germany that cost $200 & took 4 weeks to deliver to Australia😅😅😅 But I still loved that car🥰🥰
Thank you for this!! Thank You for the music, all the epic performances & the inspirations… I remember all those years ago i was just a kid the year 1980… The show Kiss first visit to Norway & Oslo playing the legendary Drammenshallen Arena… Little did we know What was to come… the catman was out & the Foxman was now the new deummer…. Who was He ?? Rest in peace & forever the Fox Eric Carr ✝️ Regards From Norway 🇳🇴
I can shed some light on that time in Kiss and I guess probably the way it was in general. As a guest of the promoter and other friends I went to four Kiss shows with a laminated "ALL ACCESS" backstage pass. I spoke to Eric and Bruce every night of those shows and they were absolutely great guys just hanging out backstage talkin. Each night a few top members of the crew would come around to everyone backstage and say "Time to go people Gene and Paul are pulling in". Eric and Bruce would have a parting word or two if we were with them and we were escorted to the "VIP" area. A limo would pull right up to the back of the stage and the show would start shortly thereafter. When the show was over the limo would leave and it's all good again, do what you want just stay out of the crews way. The irony is I did not like the band much at that time and really did not care about meeting Gene or Paul but I did enjoy talking to Eric and Bruce.
It's clear that bands like Kiss and the Rolling Stones are companies. When a original member leaves it's financially smarter to hire a musician than replace him and make someone a full member who will take an equal part of the business. It's not very sympathetic but nearly every musician will take the opportunity to be hired by such band. Even if you don't last very long you've made a name for yourself that lasts forever.
Darryl Jones has been playing bass for the Stones for over 30 years and they still treat him like a session guy. He's been there for as long as Bill Wyman was but still no respect. If Darryl has declined to become a member I can accept that but otherwise it's a bit crazy
fair enough, founder members who did years of grafting and poverty to get onto the big stages - why offer the new boy an equal split? The money then for most was publishing and merch much more than touring.
@@smokesletsgo2374Jones didn’t even play on Hackney Dismonds- Richards and Wood played bass. Jones has played on 3 studio albums and on tours. Chuck Leavell has been with them since 1983 - over 40 years on keys and as musical director and is not a member. Jagger and Richards didn’t make Wood an official member for 17 years
some of this is misleading. Kiss were a PLATINUM act once they took off the makeup in '83. All of their albums basically went Platinum (save for 1 or 2 ) after the makeup came off. Smashes Thrashes & Hits went DOUBLE PLATINUM in fact. Forever was a top 10 hit, their biggest ever after Beth. And Larry Mazer, (Kiss' manager for several yrs in the late 80's early 90s) has said the Hot In The Shade Tour in 1990 netted around 1 million dollars after expenses in an online interview. The Asylum Financials were released online (leaked) and they showed a profit of around 3/4 of a million dollars for the Asylum tour, and these were mid 80's dollars people. Kiss was still a big act in the 80's, the problem was that Gene & Paul had a bad penchant for consistently over spending as C.K. Lendt talked extensively about in his book. Also Kiss made some very bad investments in the 70's (which Lendt also referenced in his book) that came back to bite them in the 80's, and that was the main reason Kiss were in rocky territory in regards to their finances in the 80s. It wasn't because they were hanging on for dear life like a lot of the 70's only fans love to mislead people into believing. You can be a successful band, or individual, but if you over spend constantly and possibly made bad investments previously in your life you can still have financial problems despite your continued success. Look at Michael Jackson. He was doing rehearsals for his concert tour before he died not because he was not still making good money, but because he was constantly over spending in his personal life and he didn't want to sell any of his publishing or his Beatles catalog, so he was going to tour again even though by most accounts he didn't really want to tour anymore. Point being - what's going out of your bank account is just as important as what's going in. Problem is a lot of bands and successful people sometimes don't fully grasp this. Hence Kiss (Gene & Paul).
Well said. My first KISS concert was Hot in the Shade in 1990. It was said that Gene had lost focus in the band and Paul was keeping it going. Their concerts were dialed back because he f their financial woes. They brought back the full show in 1990 for Hot in the Shade and it was an amazing experience.
Yep, good response. Also Kiss the band, it's finances were always kept separate from Paul and Gene as best possible. Many bands are set up this way so it doesn't intrude on personal finances. As you said they were successful in the 80's post makeup but they weren't raking in the dough as they were at their peak. I wouldn't assume Gene and Paul were super rich during this era but millionaires and living comfortably for sure. People also forget, paying for touring isn't cheap and those expenses come out of the tour and help from the label...which gets paid back. Fact is Eric and Bruce were paid extremely well and fans have to remember if they were paid that well, Gene and Paul were still making more. By the reunion tour the band had simply run it's course. Yet another trend in music was happening and it's pretty amazing that Kiss had lasted that long anyway. The reunion tour was simply to good to pass up financially and now both Gene and Paul are worth upwards of 400 mill in Gene's case.
I think one of the main transitions was in the new period it was only Gene & Paul that had the bespoke wigs, Singer & Thayer were on budget wigs saving an absolute fortune. Gene donates his old wigs to Ace now after his bankruptcy which is causing a lot of problems. It was the main reason Ace's girlfriend left.
What you are saying is more accurate than the video this guy put out. Gene over spent, Paul always kept himself in check. Bad investments were made, like buying into the Arena Football League. That being said, after the year of 1977 KISS has been a Company worth hundreds of millions of dollars. They have never been in financial "trouble". That's as far as I will go on this subject in the comment section. Keep Rockin'. I do have an long history with the members of KISS.
Paul and Gene's problem was always one of spending more than they earned. What do you think it cost for Paul to carry a therapist around on tour with them (so he'd always have that shoulder to cry on)?
I felt a disturbance in the force that morning woke up put the TV on heard the news that Eric passed away spent the day bummed out it was my birthday too RIP ERIC 🥁🥁
Eric's girlfriend said "Gene & Paul brought Eric flowers to his hospital room and started discussing a new drummer right in front of him." Low-life move if you ask me.
I would have preferred Tommy, etc. had their own make up (Like Vinnie & Eric I think did)....it would still be Kiss and the replacements would have had more of their own identity and probably feel better about the gig. Oh.....Vinnie Vincent saved Kiss.
I'd have paid in KISS for free! But, jokes aside, I don't see that anyone was unfairly treated. 2000 a week to play drums in the 80's isn't bad. And after ace and peter burning them so bad I understand Paul and Gene being wary of bringing new people in as full members.
as a drummer myself, Eric Carr is one of my biggest influences. he died way too young, and way too soon. rest in forever, Eric, I wish I was as good a drummer as you.
Eric was fired from the band while he lay in his hospital bed, about to die; he was fired to save KISS Inc. on insurance premiums and hospital bills. Don't be fooled, with Paul & Gene, it is ALWAYS about the money. Bruce doesn't sound the least bit bitter to me - he sounds honest. He has always been gracious, and diplomatic to a fault regarding the guys in the band and his time in KISS, and even now that he is a little more willing to speak up, he still does so not only with diplomacy, but with class, and dignity towards all.
Let's be realistic - they bought him the car because they didn't want him to embarrass them. What he drove was a reflection of them, as far as they were concerned. There's nothing generous about those two. Paul Stanley thought he was going to get out of his divorce from his wife of many years by paying her living expenses while she attended college so she could support herself. He thought that was generous of him and he was shocked when she hired lawyers and went for much more. He said that "she had always said she wasn't after his money but it sure felt like it now!" Pail used to throw pennies in the street to watch Gene run around and pick them all up because he thought it was funny. These two are NOT generous people.
Supposedly , Eric asked Paul if he could paint the Porche camouflage , and of course Paul said no. Just one of the stories I’ve heard about Eric when he first joined the band. It’s not a secret Eric liked camouflage clothes , so it kinda seems like it would be a real story. But the only one that really knows is sadly gone. I became a drummer because of Peter Criss , but I got better because of Eric Carr. I was driving to work the morning I heard the news Eric had died , and I pulled over on the side of interstate 75 and just cried. If anyone deserved to live it was Eric , in my opinion anyway. He was just a good hearted person. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Tommy is an excellent guitarist he took a lot of criticism playing for KISS and as a kid in Portland Or. Black n Blue were an amazing band . Rest Well Eric .Thx Kar and Shawn ..✌️
@CP-kb1du And showed up on time clean and was dependable for EVER recording session and show. And never made any mistakes live. That's FAR from a clone.🥠
In the 80's Eric & Bruce should have been paid 400k each. That would have been proper. Paul could have left out the per diem & had them pay their own travel expenses that way Eric & Bruce could use as a tax wright off. Kiss should of bought Eric a new Corvette instead of a Porsche.
I remember at the Fishkill NY inside flea market year’s ago way in the back in a cluttered dark corner Eric’s Drum set from the Crazy Nights tour with his parents selling some Eric Carr home made cassette tapes and other collector items ..amazing what you can find when you just go to a flea market these days
NOT BEING IN KISS as a full member was actually a GOOD THING. It meant it was a job, you played what they asked you to play and used that experience for future gigs. If you think about it coldly, leaving all emotion aside, KISS was a corporation, a brand, not a "band" anymore. The spark was gone and they just kept the business going on old hits, explosions, and nostalgia. No amount of talent - and Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick had plenty would save that band or bring it back to the top as they did before, mainly because it was now Paul's band. Gene was only a YES MAN, a rubber stamp. What post-Elder song is there that evokes the feeling of 70's KISS that you'd remember and play it in your stereo that would last as long as something like "Detroit Rock City" for example? I couldn't come up with one either. "Lick It Up", "Heaven's On Fire" and "I Love It Loud" are good efforts but are but a flash in the pan, pale attempts to recover a past glory. Not worth a second play for at least 8-10 years. I'm glad they're gone, and I hope the avatars either never come or that they are a total failure. Let that band die with some dignity. Paul has done enough harm. Gene has enough money. Those guys are sick.
I believe it is widely known that on the '96 tour, Ace received $20K per gig and Peter received $10K per gig. Ace did get royalties from merch sales and Peter didn't. In the mid 80's that Kiss tours were not very successful. The booked arenas in America but mostly those arenas were ½ full or ⅓ full. Some shows were moved to smaller venues or community theaters due to low tix sales. Kiss was in such bad shape that the much anticipated '92 Revenge arena tour was pushed back once and then ended abruptly due to low ticket sales. There was not a proper US tour until the "Convention" tour of '95 that had an admission price of $100. So yeah, Gene and Paul played the part of wealthy rockstars and insisted they were driven to and from by limos, but those were lean years and ticket sales were nowhere near their peers.
The Revenge tour didn't "end abruptly" They did the shows that were booked and spent about 3 months on tour for Revenge . They did the UK and US on Revenge ..
Revenge was a proper tour but you're right about it being poorly attended. I saw them at the Nassau Coliseum for Revenge and my and my buddies couldn't believe how few people attended. It was obvious Gene was very disappointed. It was, however, a very good show and stage.
@@georgenicholson6080 yeah the setlist on Revenge was outstanding. Great stage set up too. They definitely went out with a bang for the non makeup touring KISS

The way they treated Eric was horrible. We know he was basically a hired gun, but Eric thought they were all friends.. But I guess Gene and Paul didn't see it that way. Eric was just an acquaintance and co-worker to them. Who could just be replaced if he were unable to do his job.. There was no brotherhood there like fans want to believe. Bruce was Eric's friend. Ace was his friend. Gene and Paul weren't. Those two don't have friends. Gene has even admitted he doesn't have real friends. Kiss wasn't a band to them. It was strictly a business.

For all of you idiots who whine about full member yada yada yada. Why should you make royalties on albums that you weren't even a band member? It took Joe Walsh decades to become a full member of the Eagles, it took Ronnie Wood like 25 years to become a full member of the Stones. It is a business like any other business. You hire employees, you don't give them part of your business. That isn't how things work in life.
The Porsche 924 was the successor of the 914. It was called the Maurerporsche = Bricklayer porsche because it was quite cheaply made at the NSU factory not at Porsche. It is called PORSCHA not Porsch…
Eric Carr sister has stated that Eric was paid around $3000 a week and we're talking back in the 80s all the way up to 1990 that was pretty damn good money.
I understand that Peter Criss got screwed by his manager after the reunion tour and all that but still winning 15K $ by show. At the same time, $40K per night was more than most of North Americans during a whole year. As for Eric Carr and Bruce, it was in 300,000$/500K--->2024 wasn't that much compared to professional athletes these and artists in the big league market, but was fairly paid as KISS were getting even with concerts. However Paul and Gene got the best of them (especialy Bruce) for not paying paid for credits during the 1980-90's.
June 1980. I went to pick up my then girlfriend from work. She asked if we could give the dishwasher a ride someplace. I said "sure"...in jumps Eric Carr in the front seat. As we were speaking and smoking a joint, he tells me he was going to an audition for KISS. I thought that was soo cool. I knew him by seeing him in his band Flasher once. Turns out he and my then GF were screwing around behind my back. Hey its all good. Still respect Eric for the musician he was. And for taking a cheating a$$ GF off my hands. They ended the affair only 3 days after i found out lol.
Sorry bud, he was just much a pos as she was...I would be glad both were removed from my life but its would bother me if he was my friend, friends dont do that.
@paulsmith4686 I wasn't too terribly hurt. I wanted her to go away anyway. Really liked her at first but after 4 months you get to know a person. I guess Eric found out quicker. She was a gold digger.
Maybe they wouldn't have had their tax problem if they just paid their taxes as they went along. Instead of using a bogus "tax shelter." Gene and Paul and the music equivalent of Leona Helmsley.
All big earning celebs have accountants that work out how to legally minimise their tax bill. Many have a few good years followed by lean years, only the very top acts can consistently rake it in over the decades. In UK ECHR european court does not permit new laws to be applied retrospectively.
I seriously don't know what the problem with Gene and Paul were. Anyone joining the band who wasn't an original member were considered employees. What was their major malfunction? Any other band taking in new players were considered members. Ah, I get it. If a person like Eric Carr taking Peter's place were considered a member, they'd have to pay him what they were paying Peter. Gene and Paul were cheap af.
@@955472 In name only. He wasn’t getting a quarter split like he should have been. In truth he was kind of treated like a red headed step child. It wasn’t overt to the fans eye, unless you notice that prior to Hot In The Shade, Eric never got any writing credits. He also never had any lead vocals on any songs prior to his one and only lead vocal Little Caesar on Hot In The Shade. They forced him to do a lead vocal on Beth for Smashes, but nothing other than that. Which kind of sucks because we know Eric was a multi instrumentalist, and in all likelihood had songs of his own or that he cowrote that could have been recorded with him on Lead vocal, but it never did. In Paul’s book, he speaks of Eric getting into a funk because he wasn’t the “original” drummer of KISS. I suspect the truth may be more that he was Treated like a non original member even after giving all his time and creativity to the band. He was under a chokehold by Paul and Gene and wasn’t taken seriously as a creative force.
Official member or not, just like Peter and Ace with the reunion, they will still get paid like sidemen. Shit, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer have been in Kiss longer than Peter and Ace and they still just get paid a certain amount. The best example I have ever seen of a band actually splitting the money equally was Rush. Didn't matter who wrote the songs or this part or that part, they split everything three ways. Gene and Paul are too money hungry for that.
Simply put, Gene and Paul own KISS as the band is a business and all others are employees which is why they could fire Ace. Gene and Paul own all the trademarks etc
I had a Porsche back in 1990 and it was a money pit just like EC describes . A freaking alternator would set you back 1500 dollars in todays money and then you had to have someone do the labor, which would likely cost another 500 bucks
Here is a perfect example of what Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are like....... When Eric Carr joined KISS , Paul bought him that shitty Porsche , thn when Eric told Paul he was going to paint the Porsche camoflauge..... Paul told him that he couldn't......HEY PAUL... THE PORSCHE DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU ANYMORE , YOU GAVE IT TO ERIC ! What sort of weirdo does that ?????????? Control freak . When Gene Simmons was doing his solo album , je seriously tried to get the BEATLES to do backup vocals on it ????? DILUSIONAL ??????
Paul and Gene were BEAN counters. To their nature they didn’t want to split the loot equally with anyone But themselves. Gene would say great news, your in the Kiss band and an Employment contract is being put together as we speak. Gene and Paul would then say come in tomorrow and we will firm everything up. Both Gene and Paul were tight as Bark on a tree. When Ace and Peter came in on their Reunion tour both men wanted to be full partners like in the beginning. The Spaceman and the Cat had to sign Employment contracts to join the 1996 Gravy Train.
Eric was certainly a great fit, and so was Bruce. The more than pompous attitude of Gene and Paul looking at Kiss like a business instead of a band reducing the band to not always having the magic of music where the sum is greater than the parts. Coming full circle with Kiss getting caught using backing tracks on their tours. Why fans still bought tickets was certainly beyond me. Live music is just that, supposed to be "live" music. So really Kiss has been offering one thing, but then providing another. That's just bad taste. And this video does not surprise me. Yeah, a 1960's rebuilt muscle car would have been better than the Porsche of the time.
you know, everyones always saying my old money inflated, but it still seems to be exactly the same as its always been.. i turned it to the side, and its still really thin.. paper thin.. so i started investigating this mysterious change in the money, everyones always talking about, and it turns out that people just ask for more of it now days.. so, i started asking everyone why they are asking for so much money, and they told me the money isnt worth as much now.. you know, i think theyre just saying that bs because they want me to give them more of my money
Ace said in his book 20,000 every concert in Ace was getting 25,000 every concert by the time from the reunion tour psycho circus tour farewell tour Ace made of round 20 million from on gene and Peter made somewhere between 15 and 17 million.
I was tracking at 5850 Hollywood Blvd. /Fortress in 1991 during hot in the shade, almost everyday, Eric RIP was super nice gave me all kinds of drum gear , a stool I played on from 91 till about 2012 anyway, he said he was just buying his very first house in 91 and he had been with KISS 10 years. (I imagine you don't really need a house touring all the time anyway, but he was saying he was not rich in code, I do know later that year KISS hired my hair Stylist Glen Scott and he told me: "KISS paid him $2500 a week plus prediaum + he was on retainer exclusive, he got paid even off tour in case they had special appearance etc". , My one friend was Genes assistant in LA and washed his Rolls Royce ran errands shit like that, one final thought Tommy Thayer was in the studio everyday during the tracking/recording of Hot in the Shade. he was intrical even back then just thinking out loud..Paul always drove up in a Black Porche i think 911 there is my 2 cents. Cheers!
I think Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are total douchebags. They ended up making millions, but totally f'd up what the band was originally. It would have been awesome if they would have stuck to what they were up until Alive II. They would have still made millions and have a better legacy than what it's now. Mini golf? Give me a break!
And you think wrong. Sure they've made bad decisions but they've also made good decisions. They kept KISS alive thru some tough times after Ace and Peter showed their asses and didn't carry their own weight. As fsr as I'm concerned the douchebags have always been Ace and Peter and they lie doing damage control. As it says in Ace's book, "me and Peter were a couple of fuck ups". All i need to know about them
the only lean times in that period was for everyone other than Gene & Paul and management, and if memory serves me correctly they cancelled Eric's insurance coverage during his illness and if anyone has black & white hard proof to the contrary please post it as everyone would really like to see the evidence to the fact of what exactly happened but that's how i remembered it. god forbid if Kiss Inc. had to pay medical bills of a great guy that they "called' their brother and "bandmate" which only lasts until it costs gene or paul a fuckin' dime...
I worked at a hotel where kiss stayed on the Hot in the shade tour Simmons and Stanley had the nice suites Eric and Bruce got regular rooms cheap bastards
I think when the original line up split the new member where just hired guns so Paul and Gene became very rich. I still don't know what Peter and Ace get from Kiss. Are they still seen as co owners of the Kiss business.
100k a year? That had to have been better than what dive bars, wedding gigs, county fairs and warehouse blitzes were paying..yet 100k dont seem like much when you figure that it took millions upon millions to keep the KISS machine rolling..yet i suspect most of it went to the record companies and taxes..in some ways i think Gene and Paul may have been held accountable for things that were out of their control? Not always.

I have always admired Bruce being so respectful of the Kiss legacy, namely not being a puppet riding Ace's coattails. Just a great guy and hell of a guitarist.
Used to love when Eric sung back ups on Young & Wasted when they performed it live. He and Kulick saved Kiss' career.
It's good to read all the nice comments about Eric Carr. Too often you only hear about the bad folks. You are never really gone until people stop remembering you... Eric will be around for a long time to come.
Saw Bruce and Eric on the " hot in the shade tour " . It was a great show. Saw Bruce again last year with
Grand Funk.
Both Eric Carr and Freddie Mercury died on the same day, we lost two legends that day.
Can't compare Eric to Freddie; W/all due respect Eric WAS NOT a ..'legend'
@@JismIsm-en4kz I second that. While the original 4 members of KISS are certainly legends, none of the replacement members achieved that status. Subbed!
Thank you very much, great pleasure! I'm also a big Bruce fan. He's a great player!
Great upload, thnx!! RIP Eric

I never thought in high school that KISS would be so complicated.

You are very welcome, great pleasure!!
I heard Mark St. john was paid in happy meals
With children to go with them
Didnt know the real story about that guy until recently..too bad.
But someone had to unwrap them because of his arthritis lol
My favorite KISS lineup is with Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick and the other two guys.
I felt a disturbance in the force that morning woke up put the TV on heard the news that Eric passed away spent the day bummed out it was my birthday too RIP ERIC 🥁🥁
Eric's girlfriend said "Gene & Paul brought Eric flowers to his hospital room and started discussing a new drummer right in front of him."
Low-life move if you ask me.
I would have preferred Tommy, etc. had their own make up (Like Vinnie & Eric I think did)....it would still be Kiss and the replacements would have had more of their own identity and probably feel better about the gig.
Oh.....Vinnie Vincent saved Kiss.
Vinnie didn't save anything. KISS taking off the makeup saved KISS
Tommy has no personal charisma or star shine. Youde havd to be a unique freek to be there with the fab 4 iconic members
THE ELDER was astonishing drumming. Just amazing work by Eric. It's one of my favorite albums by KISS to the day
Didn't they call Allen Schwartzberg, a studio drummer for The Elder?
Eric was fired from the band while he lay in his hospital bed, about to die; he was fired to save KISS Inc. on insurance premiums and hospital bills. Don't be fooled, with Paul & Gene, it is ALWAYS about the money.
Bruce doesn't sound the least bit bitter to me - he sounds honest. He has always been gracious, and diplomatic to a fault regarding the guys in the band and his time in KISS, and even now that he is a little more willing to speak up, he still does so not only with diplomacy, but with class, and dignity towards all.
Although i liked original lineup Eric and Bruce were great 👍 miss Eric's drumming
He said that "she had always said she wasn't after his money but it sure felt like it now!"
Pail used to throw pennies in the street to watch Gene run around and pick them all up because he thought it was funny.

Playing for KISS pays better than the IBEW.
Gene and Paul bought him a money pit. Im not suprised.
Some people will support Gene & Paul & call it business BUT after the reunion tour started It was nothing but $-GREED-$
not a single bad word ever spoke about eric carr...any ill words are always about his treatment...
Guy just said they got paid $50k and $40k per show. Smdh
The Revenge tour didn't "end abruptly"
They did the shows that were booked and spent about 3 months on tour for Revenge .

How is curious about the money aspect of a band
Eric was a repairman, not an 'oven cleaner'
Ok, thank you!!
Maybe they wouldn't have had their tax problem if they just paid their taxes as they went along. Instead of using a bogus "tax shelter." Gene and Paul and the music equivalent of Leona Helmsley.
Exactly. They can pretend it's not tax evasion, it's not tax avoidance, calling it _tax avoision_ doesn't mean they don't still owe that money.
All big earning celebs have accountants that work out how to legally minimise their tax bill. Many have a few good years followed by lean years, only the very top acts can consistently rake it in over the decades. In UK ECHR european court does not permit new laws to be applied retrospectively.
After ten years Eric Carr SHOULD have been made an official member of the band..
He was an official member of the band.

I feel for Bruce. He should have been asked to play the last show.
I own and currently restoring a porsche 928 , drummers likes porsche 🤘
They could have gotten him a 911…..
you know, everyones always saying my old money inflated, but it still seems to be exactly the same as its always been.. i turned it to the side, and its still really thin.. paper thin.. so i started investigating this mysterious change in the money, everyones always talking about, and it turns out that people just ask for more of it now days.. so, i started asking everyone why they are asking for so much money, and they told me the money isnt worth as much now.. you know, i think theyre just saying that bs because they want me to give them more of my money
I had a 1980 924 turbo wasn't a bad car
104k in 1982 is like 340k in 2024
Ace said in his book 20,000 every concert in Ace was getting 25,000 every concert by the time from the reunion tour psycho circus tour farewell tour Ace made of round 20 million from on gene and Peter made somewhere between 15 and 17 million.
Cheers!
Those two dues are so miserable, they paid the bare minimum. I despise Eisen and Klein!!
" A guy named Bob Mosley". Funny.
Peter and Ace when there is no camera in alot of videos where not very nice to their fans
I believe Stanlehy is worth aboutr 230-250mill dollars and Simmons about 320-400mill dollars!
No one really cares what you think.
@@sjs1555 Well you took the time to read it and you took the time to respond to it. At least you cared. Thank you.
@@johnbernhardtsen3008 Exactly as I said they ended up making a lot of money.
They deserved a lot more
I worked at a hotel where kiss stayed on the Hot in the shade tour Simmons and Stanley had the nice suites Eric and Bruce got regular rooms cheap bastards
Im surprised that Gene and Paul allowed them to have their own rooms.
@@toms4442 gene would only talk to you if you called him Mr Simmons
Interesting. That tour posted a one million dollar profit. Could have been more if Gene and Paul had stayed in a regular room, too.
Not always.
Their original accountants did a very poor job not to mention Neil Bogart screwed them out of 10's of millions of dollars in merchandise money
Not to mention endorsement deals.
They got paid in KISS merch.
Lots of money in merch.
Vinnie never signed a contract.
Wow, Kulick and Carr made peanuts.
It was their choice.
@@TPowers515 I doubt it was "their"choice they made peanuts. They just had zero leverage.
if I'm going to join a super rock group, i better be a full-time member !
Thought story was porshe was STANLEYS and was used. paul gave it to him. wasn't new.
Incorrect
I heard that it was a 1980 Porsche so I figured that it was a new car. Paul and Gene gave it to Eric in 1980.
@@karsguitarchannel6088 Would think if it was new he wouldnt have problems with it already.
@@brianstrutter1501😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 . How about those two lists ?
Eric Carr was the best personnel Hire for kiss
They bought him a NEW CAR !! They didn't have to, they just wanted to. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth...they could have got him NOTHING !
This has been standard operating procedure for any band.
