If you (like me) don't know about architecture, apparently the Strangerville design is "Carpenter Gothic," it was trying to imitate Gothic details but using wood instead of stone, because wood was cheap in the US at the time. I think it looks so cool, and just a little creepy (Gothic is always a little intimidating, you know?) it's perfect for this pack.

strangerville is actually one of my favorites to build with- absolutely underrated especially when combined with a few other packs of whoevers choosing. I usually build with strangerville, base game and like 2 other packs
Strangerville with an Alien character in the Scientist Career is one of my favorite play throughs. The two mesh perfectly. I took one of the houses there beside the RV lot and built a huge 2 story deep hidden science lab under it. Love Strangerville :)
I recently started playing a strangerville save again and i absolutely love it! It’s totally up my alley in terms of a story based gameplay and the world feels super unique to me
As a builder with a fair good chunk of packs, Strangerville ranks pretty high for me. I bought it full price and I still consider it a solid investment. I use it in most of my builds, especially since for the longest time, that was the only laptop option… but truthfully, it’s the doors and windows. If you enjoy Victorians, you need this pack. I also highly rate the world for building. I find it super inspiring. I’ve built Victorians, modern masterpieces, and some super quirky builds like a bunker for a doomsday prepper sort and a hidden bar using the plane crash pieces. I plan to revisit and do a teen hangout with the plane crash pieces too since we have ladders and all. I’ve been sick for a long time so haven’t had the chance to play much since desert luxe came out. I firmly believe Strangerville and Batuu are dark horse packs. You don’t realize how much you’ll use them until you have them. I use so many of the Batuu floors, decorative objects, lights… actually, Strangerville + Batuu is a fun combo for a desert home.
Strangerville is FAR from the worst pack…. I use the build/buy AND CAS all the time. The cas is genuinely some of my favorite, all of my male sims wear at least 2 strangerville pieces
If there would be a time for a building to be a little less pretty and more weird, it'd of course be in Strangerville, so it actually fit in more better looking strange when you think about it. Still think the build looks pretty and cool tho
I like to treat Strangerville as a city not too far away from Chestnut Ridge. So I keep this Wild West kind of vibe there, just say that this part of the world was strictly made because of the need for a military base and letter the families of the soldiers started to move there too and that's how the city was created. So year a ranch city with more stone buildings
I feel like this kit would work very well with industrial packs for decorating, like in the bunker having a ton of airducts and pipes and shizzle just everywhere
I’m so happy to see other people in the comments who like strangerville. I had my greatest organically created sims plot line happen during strangerville. My dude was getting ready to fight the mother plant but gets abducted and impregnated by an alien. Later, I make the alien daughter revive the mother plant and restarted the cycle as a teen and help infect people even in other towns. You know, cause alien unity or something? LOL. She finally has a daughter and her daughter is forced to save the world from everything her mother caused. It was great.
It takes a specific vibe to play in SV for me, but overall I like it. I also think that Creek Corner Cove lot has one of the most beutiful views of the landscape in the whole game.
I have a soft spot for Strangerville as a whole. My Not So Berry mint generation started there, as I felt the world was perfect for the scientist career. I also love the quest based gameplay although there's no point replaying it after finishing the first time. Such an underrated pack!
I love Strangerville. I played there with my previous gen in my legacy save. The world is beautiful. The gameplay is great. The cas is amazing. I really love the pack even if most don’t like it.
I love StrangerVille so much--it's actually probably my favorite world. And yeah, there's not a lot of furniture if you want to build a normal house, but if you want to build a bunker/military installation/scientific research center/alien conspiracy theorist trailer, there's so much! Not everyone needs to be a normie. Also, that colander hat! It makes me smile every single time.
I actually love Strangerville, the world is cool! (Even with the scuffed builds). I like that small camper lot - very different from lots we have. I find myself using the CAS items a lot too
Strangerville is an amazing pack. The items and the world are so good. I played the infected thing once and then just use it as a normal world to play in
White with light green accents looks so fresh to me. Definitely not a problem! I understand the struggle with the porch roof. I think if it didn't bump outwards so much, or if the porch itself was a tile wider to meet up with the outer edge of the bumpout (not sure how to explain) that the roofing would fit better. Good recovery, though!
I don't have strangerville yet, but this video has solidified my decision to get it. The build buy is super fun and the gameplay looks great too, in addition to the cas. It just seems so interesting and fun in terms of gameplay.
As much as I’d like (another) base game swatch update, I’d also like to see a swatch update for the older packs. Like 2014-17 old (god ‘17 was 7 years ago). A lot of them have minimal swatches and makes it hard to use some of that furniture
You know what? Now you're making me feel really old because I dropped out from uni in 2017 and I was older than most people in my bachelor programme 😂 But yeah, in regard to sims, they should do one big swatch revamp, it's really not that big of a deal to add few matching swatches to things. I mean, if they're similar style they could even add the same swatch, we would be so glad, finally something would match. If CC creators can do like 30 kitchen cabinet swatches I don't see why multi billion company couldn't do it.
strangerville being the worst pack meanwhile 50% of packs quite literally either dont work, break your game, or are literal scammy cash-grabs??…i get not liking it, but calling it the worst pack when For Rent, Wedding Stories, High School years, Dine Out, Batuu, My First Pets Stuff, and Bust the Dust exist is quite a stretch 😂
I LOVE the Strangerville doors, windows and fences. The style of this pack just vibes with me. I don't care too much about gameplay, generally, but I use this pack constantly for building
Since simsie has been streaming a lot of stardew maybe she could do a sims build challenge where every room is a different randomized stardew character? That'd be so awesome!
a bit off topic, but i think sometimes you should try something different from the floor plan you usually do. for example, everytime you can fit 2+ bedrooms you turn them into a kids/teen bedroom, but you could also make them music rooms, art studios, candle makers spaces, little cinemas, laundry room etc... i think sometimes making more houses with these different, but useful spaces could be really cool!!!
I downloaded CC for the doors and windows from Strangerville. It adds more variations for both size and height, and also has some beatiful arches to match. I absolutely love that CC.
I’m in my Simsie build era because I’ve built 3 houses for my sims in the span of one week. I must be channeling that energy because the family is in Strangerville, and now Kayla is building there.
I’m not usually one to comment on videos but since I’m actively doing a strangerville playthrough, I feel like I could add my 2 cents. When I originally bought the pack, it was entire for the doors and windows, I won’t even lie. I’m not usually one to build in the desert worlds, nor am I really big on gameplay. I’ve been trying to get into different gameplay features and thought the structure of strangerville would help. This is by far the most interesting gameplay experience I’ve had so far. I built a cozy little trailer home micro home on the trailer park lot, I’ve made my sim, like, the ultimate mystery hunter (honestly might go for paranormal investigator next with her) and she just drives around investigating things, and she stumbled across Strangerville. I’m genuinely so attached to all of the townies in this world, and the gameplay itself was just a lot of fun. I’ve even thought of making up some story line if the original gang of people I recruited to fight the mother plant getting together regularly, and like one day the plant starts to regrow and no one believes her that something’s wrong. I create stories for my sims all the time, and this is the longest I’ve stuck with one, tbh. Editing to add: I won’t defend the default builds, I usually end up rebuilding most of them to fit my needs better lol. Or just to make them look better. Why does the eclectic arts household, with 3 sims, all single, have only 2 bedrooms???
I’ll also add, Strangerville + Paranormal + Decor to the Max is a WINNING COMBO! Add in Vintage Glamor and it’s over the top good. I’ve done the cutest shotgun style house. It’s my favorite house to play in with a single sim. It’s so good.
Honestly I love the shape of the house. I live in a historic neighborhood and the outside reminds me so much of this gorgeous house across the street from me.
I actually use strangerville a lot, I love their doors and windows so much. I also recently realized if you ignore the welcome wagon and don't go to the crater you can pretty much live normally without too much mother plant shenanigans happening
I've had strangerville for awhile now, but I only recently played it (my first gen of not so berry started there). I have never seen gameplay or anything from it, so it was really interesting and fun to me. The gameplay didn't feel that repetitive, and I really appreciated how you had to actually have a relationship with whoever to help you fight the mother plant. I am a huge star wars fan, and actually dont hate batuu, but strangerville definitely was way more engaging. If you don't work towards a cure, there's consequences and I appreciated that in a game like sims 4 which seems so dense.
ok, I actually have a challenge idea that seems interesting spin a wheel with every pack that contains furniture and whichever gets picked, you not only have to make something using ONLY that pack and base game but you also have to use every single item of the pack (not base game), including debugs
The fact that I got heated when simsie started talking about this pack is honestly embarrassing since I’ve only played the storyline ONCE but I truly do love this pack. The windows, doors, and the less weird furniture are an Americana style that we don’t really in any of the other packs. I just love the vibe and idea behind it more than anything. A small town in southwestern America that was left behind in 70s along with the big secrets it holds. LOVE IT!!!
at the beginning when the victorian style doors were shown with the bunker style bed it immediately reminded me of Supernatural and their bunker in the later seasons. I now want to buy this pack just to make a build of their bunker. 🤣
*Do not question her powers, she has powers that we humans cannot comprehend* She can make any pack the worst pack for the sake titling the video with the word *WORST* in it.
To be honest, The Sims is overall the WORST game. But hear me out, mostly because it's so addicting, I play the series since 2001. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would willingly play a game for that long (and I still sometimes play Sims 1) and Sims 4 comes out since 2014. Some of us play since it came out, and there are some of us who were just born then 😂
The reason friezes do that is because once you join walls into a room, any wall that is an exterior wall is forever considered an exterior wall, even if you add another room making it an interior wall. You can test this. Make a house and then pick up a room and rotate it so that the wall that was on the outside becomes an “interior wall.” Then use shift to “paint all” exterior walls and watch your now interior wall paint along with the walls it’s joined with. Same with friezes, mapping to all “exterior” walls. It’s one of the reasons I hate the rooms system for building.
Imagine if they added vibes or something so it would throw sims off it was a creepy room or whatever vibe the room would give off haha I'D LOVE THAT. Like if it had the same mechanism as the for rent pack when you split the rooms up into apartments, but this time it would be the vibe rooms would give off.
The gameplay is awesome and everything works like it's supposed to. The only downside is that once you finish the main gameplay, there's not much replay value. But the world is amazing, the weather is usually great. The lots are forgetable, but I love to renovate bad lots.
If you take suggestions for build challenges, I have an idea: Based on your "Wheel decides my build" videos, you should do one where you spin for a different era/decade, e.g. the 50s, 1800s, 80s, etc. And make another build where the wheel decides what country you inspire each room on.
I am SO surprised you didn’t go colorful painted lady. This pack is perfect for that kind of build. Love using this pack because of the colorful swatches, they’re so fun.
I LOVE Strangerville because it reminds me of west Texas! I just wish there were more big lots with the desert terrain instead of the grass. I use the build items in probably half my houses.
Some of my most treasured sims 4 memories come from playing the Strangerville pack. Probably because my sim's personal story fit in so well with the Strangerville mystery storyline. She and her twin brother, then young adults, were long estranged from their alcoholic dad who lives in Strangerville. Their mother separated from him when the twins were little, so they barely remembered their early childhood years spent in the desert town. The twins' mother had since passed away - so when their dad came in contact with a strange fruit and became infected, my sim chose to drop out of the university and move in with him to find the vaccine and solve the Strangerville mystery. Not only did she achieve that, she also managed to mend her and her brother's relationship with their dad. And while she was at it, she also fell in love with Erwin the conspiracy theorist, who helped her defeat the mother plant. They are now married, have a child, and live in one of those victorian houses on the hill. (I still can't get over how beautiful the view from their house is. Sometimes I load into their household just to look at those mountains). My sim has since become a bestselling author - her first book was, of course, autobiographical. I've also swapped most of the original lots to better ones from the gallery and I still send my sims on a little Strangerville holiday every now and then. This world really has a special place in my heart ❤
Strangerville is my favorite! I love that you retain the Savior of Stragnerville status and keep getting gifts from Strangerville residents long after you played with a pack. I wish we had more packs like this, because to me it's nice to have this short story-like gameplay that is already pre-designed for you. Regular sims gameplay is so boring to me.
I love strangerville. It's the only world where mystery-adventure exist literally. I solve the mystery of whats behind the possession & I even slay the monster under that lab. It's fun!
I usually don’t comment on videos, but I thought I would because strangerville has my favorite build items. A tumblr user by the name peacemaker-ic has expanded on this build set with more versions of the windows, doors, and arches. It’s obviously only for PC users, but I would recommend it if you really love this set. He also has some other versions for other packs as well.

Honestly, the pack i hate the most is moschino, which is common, but all i like from it is the loft windows lol
The townies freak me out when they do that weird twitchy thing haha 😆
omgg i actually loved that roof piece on the rounded porch, im soo bad at doing roofs so im def gonna try that shape
Strangerville is one of my fav packs. I use the B/B all the time. CAS is ok and gameplay is fun every now and again.
the shape is reminiscent of the doll house from sims 3!
Wiat, that's so cute!! :3
I love Strangerville. I played there with my previous gen in my legacy save. The world is beautiful. The gameplay is great. The cas is amazing. I really love the pack even if most don’t like it.
Strangerville is incredible. Some of the best build/buy and CAS
I love Strangerville. I find it hilarious and delightful when my possessed sims go for their midnight runabout and come back with full needs
It makes me smile every single time.
honestly every time she calls something “weird” it’s just because she can’t use it in a boring suburban house :/
It just seems so interesting and fun in terms of gameplay.
the exterior is so coraline vibes
As much as I’d like (another) base game swatch update, I’d also like to see a swatch update for the older packs. Like 2014-17 old (god ‘17 was 7 years ago). A lot of them have minimal swatches and makes it hard to use some of that furniture
You know what? Now you're making me feel really old because I dropped out from uni in 2017 and I was older than most people in my bachelor programme 😂
But yeah, in regard to sims, they should do one big swatch revamp, it's really not that big of a deal to add few matching swatches to things. I mean, if they're similar style they could even add the same swatch, we would be so glad, finally something would match. If CC creators can do like 30 kitchen cabinet swatches I don't see why multi billion company couldn't do it.
I’m so glad everyone agrees in the comments that Strangeville is a great pack!!
Honestly you should try to make a mad scientists home using only strangerville and batuu!!!
strangerville being the worst pack meanwhile 50% of packs quite literally either dont work, break your game, or are literal scammy cash-grabs??…i get not liking it, but calling it the worst pack when For Rent, Wedding Stories, High School years, Dine Out, Batuu, My First Pets Stuff, and Bust the Dust exist is quite a stretch 😂
i actually love strangerville, i use the fences and windows religiously
Kayla being bamboozled by her own floor plan was truly the highlight of the video lol
Strangerville reminds me SO much of MCR’s Danger Days album❤️
We need a build pack that has the Strangerville doors and windows! I am Not buying this pack just for those.
I LOVE the Strangerville doors, windows and fences. The style of this pack just vibes with me. I don't care too much about gameplay, generally, but I use this pack constantly for building
I’m just mad the doors and windows don’t have a black swatch. It’s a crime!
I’ve never done the Strangerville story but I absolutely love the build mode stuff. I use it all the time, especially the doors and the windows.
I use Strangerville build items so often they are SO pretty
Why does the eclectic arts household, with 3 sims, all single, have only 2 bedrooms???
its like the pink palace from coraline:))
Strangerville has such a pretty world!! I’d love to see more builds or maybe renovations there
That is my most favorite lot to build on in the entire game! That view is amazing.
strangerville goes great with the supernatural pack for building
I’ll also add, Strangerville + Paranormal + Decor to the Max is a WINNING COMBO! Add in Vintage Glamor and it’s over the top good. I’ve done the cutest shotgun style house. It’s my favorite house to play in with a single sim. It’s so good.
I actually love the strangerville doors and windows!!!!
idea: zombie apocalypse bunkr made from strangerville items
Honestly I love the shape of the house. I live in a historic neighborhood and the outside reminds me so much of this gorgeous house across the street from me.
strangerville is far superior to wedding stories and that damn star wars pack 🤧🤧 (their promo for it was also by far the best theyve ever done)
I like this house, Kayla. For the kids' space themed bedroom, I would've used dark blue wall covering and dark sky ceiling paint.
I love this pack and I think Strangerville dont deserve this hate. There's worst packs....
ok, I actually have a challenge idea that seems interesting
spin a wheel with every pack that contains furniture and whichever gets picked, you not only have to make something using ONLY that pack and base game but you also have to use every single item of the pack (not base game), including debugs
I agree with the windows and doors being the best! I honestly just love doing older victorsn era houses with that stuff
A pool is NEVER a bad idea, and I do really love gingerbread houses. Well done! ❤
Is every pack the worst sims pack? I swear every new video is "I play THE WORST pack" and it's a different pack
*Do not question her powers, she has powers that we humans cannot comprehend*
She can make any pack the worst pack for the sake titling the video with the word *WORST* in it.
To be honest, The Sims is overall the WORST game. But hear me out, mostly because it's so addicting, I play the series since 2001. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would willingly play a game for that long (and I still sometimes play Sims 1) and Sims 4 comes out since 2014. Some of us play since it came out, and there are some of us who were just born then 😂
ive watched so many of your shell challenges in a row that i physically flinched when you started moving the walls
Strangerville has always made me feel so.. awkward? I really like 'normal' gameplay so this pack was not it haha
My teen sim was playing the violin with her cat Queen Cupcake singing it was so cute.
