Ok after watching this channel for a while, I think managed to make Kayla’s kryptonite in the form of a build challenge.
A modern style family home with the following rules:
Tall wall height only
No use of the color blue
No debug landscape (other types of debug are allowed)
There must be an indoor and outdoor trash can
There must be a rooftop garden and a basement
You must use 50,000 simoleons EXACTLY
You have to use every single simoleon in your budget
No base game
You may use the following packs
: Mosquito, Luxury Party, Journey to Baatu, Fitness Stuff, Cool Kitchen, and Get Famous.
You must use 3 or more items from each of these packs.
That would indeed be a CHALLENGE
I may try this myself. What should you call this challenge? Maybe it’ll catch on lol

I considered including the Stranger Ville pack, but then I remembered how often she uses the doors and windows. I also decided against Realm of Magic, because even though this is supposed to be challenging, I still want the build to look GOOD. None of the Magic furniture would look good with these other packs, especially not in a modern house.
Hey Kayla, I just wanted to say we’re all here for you with everything happening with Snap. You can take time off, ignore it, vent, whatever you need. We’re not going to leave.
And I know how scary it can be when there’s something wrong with a companion, but Snap is so strong, and so are you!! She’ll get better, there are so many people praying, sending love, and crossing their fingers for you!

To those wondering: Kayla ended her stream early today because she got a call from the vet about Snap (her 15 year-old cat), saying that the lump that they found on her leg was cancerous. Please be kind always, but especially right now ❤️ ❤

I'm only 4 minutes in and I already love the outside so much! Not only has simsie gotten better at modern builds, she also keeps getting better and better at community lots!
In Australia there are public grills and bbqs EVERYWHERE. So it’s not weird having one on a community lot. Like along foreshores there are at least two bbqs every 50m and at almost every park

Accurate. My family have used the local beach bbq to make eggs and bacon and have brekky down by the water it’s really nice
Kinda like that in the US too. Public grills are at most parks, beaches/lakes, sports fields and some other community places but it depends. My fam just went to swim at the lake and there was like 30 grills and everyone was making food
From side it looks like duck, the sims being duckdan's stan, they are so real for that

the fact that they couldn't even make sure that the build had decent lighting before putting in on the gallery 😭
i mean, you can plop the build on any lot. lilsimsie started out on another lot with decent lighting, then moved to one with bad lighting cuz she wanted a smaller lot.
@@Silverfur01 i meant the original shell by ea, the gallery photo looks dark and all grey. kayla always tries to make sure the gallery photo is as nice as possible. it’s all just about effort which ea clearly doesn’t have.

This actually looks so amazing! I love it! Seeing the kids' floor of the library brought me back memories of going to libraries as a kid, and all the cozy and welcoming elements to them. I hope Snap is feeling better now. We love you and the kitties, Kayla! ^^
For museums I love to have a "pose room" with a bench or chair and easel so an artist Sim can get a painting done from reference for their date 😂

i ended up turning mine into a gym the first time since I needed one for my legacy save, and it turned out (imo) so well considering I don't build community lots, and I sure as heck don't touch modern looking builds at all very often.
Decided to see how many different types of builds I could make out of it, so I'm working on a starter house right now then I'm going to try and do a uni community building, café/library mashup, a bar, and maybe one or two more things whenever the passion strikes me. This challenge pushed me out of my comfort zone so much, even though I'm not actually "entering" it or anything, and I couldn't be happier about it as it's rekindled my love for the sims again

hey simsie, i have a build request. could you build a small cottage with a guest house/ greenhouse and a small flower shop? i think it would be fun to pretend to run a flower farm 🌸
I would've maybe made it like a hospital lol. the "duck beak" part would be the entrance/emergency vhicle parking and the rest be a hospital. I would still rotate it like you did, though.

Agreed, and I think the build ended up looking quite nice, I'm just not a fan of the colours for a library, they remind me much more of a hospital that's more cold and uninviting :')
OMG could you build a retirement home with the for rent pack? I find it cute that my sims can live on a lot with all their friends they grew up with and their family can come and visit. And it helps moves sims off the original lot when it get too crowded.
When you were working on the exterior at first, I just kept thinking a science museum would be cool. Could have things hanging from the ceiling in big display(s), the lab equipment, etc. I might have to try it.

You’re such a good builder! My builds always look terrible, idk how you and other simmers make shells like this look like it was always supposed to look like that 😅
I work at my local library and we’re located in the park so we have a jungle gym by us and grills around the park so it’s not that weird. The inside, while a lot nicer and bigger than our library, has everything we have in the library so this is really brilliant!
I put mini kitchens in all my community lots, just fridge, coffee machine and microwave, so my sims can stay there skill building for a long time - your grill is not weird!

I was screaming for Simsie to add the curved be bookshelves from Growing together😭 But I still love how this turned out!
i made a 3 story library in one of my worlds once too. including using full wall windows. but it was a simple rectangular box shape. the bottom floor had the kids stuff. the second floor had computers, and the third floor was the most bookshelves and quiet reading. building usable lots is different from building a home its fun.
New subscriber here. Love your videos so far. Just wanted to say that your kids area is really pretty. Usually kids areas are on the ground floor for safety reasons and ease of access to changing rooms/ toilets but I love that in the Sims we can get away with things. It's quite freeing! And it's so fun!
i'm surprised she didn't make this place into a gym it has gym energy but i love how the build turned out 🥰

I love how I paused your video at the begining to start my build so I wouldn't be influenced by yours and ended up using the same fence and puting a "greenhouse" in almost the same spot! 😅 Guess it does make sense why it's your content that I follow the most Sims wise.
The garden makes perfect sense… I’m definitely going to download this at some point for a gardening club hangout

So, I usually don't comment but you had such great vision in the first 2 minutes I just had to let you know. You took something plain and brought it to life. You didn't seem to love it at first but I thought it was great!!

You took a very strange box and you make it look really cool and futuristic with just a few moves, that's really cool.
This is a cool library. I love it. I kind of expected though you to use those shelves with the ladder on the walls though of the first floor. I kind of used to see that in big libraries growing up and definitely saw them in bookstores. This is great though.

Our libraries have tables, a park, and grills to "rent" out for events. It's free really but you have to use $100 as a hold. Also it's used by homeless to cook dinners/meals so helping the community wholy

I always put a sized up gnome at the check-in desk, sizing down a computer and some clutter.
im building up newcrest in a game right now and this would be a perfect addition! im really into the modern look lately, and i love a good garden! Nice job!

I kept seeing a daycare since you put that front fence up under the big bump out ahahaha. A lot of daycare centres have that kind of thing
As a parent, the kid/toddler area being on the top floor is hilarious to me 😂

My first thought was that they could be one of those cute, local, hands-on science museums! Lots of room to run and experiments to play with, but very community-funded and kitschy. A STAPLE of my childhood!!
Edit: A little further into the build I saw where you put the chess tables. Certainly not a bad place for walk-up games, but I would personally have put them where you put your garden and had a covered fountain area. That way, while you play, your scalp isn't being sunburned and the water and laughing of kids is hopefully relaxing! I also might have sprung for your initial lot and done a community garden in back. This really make me want to give a shell challenge a try!
You should use the shell again and lean into the duck theme making it like a spa/bathhouse type thing!
i looked at this shell in my game and then just bulldozed the lot. respect for making it turn out this nice!

I think it's funny that she had the house long way parallel to the street, then built a deck and cover for the door. She could've had the 'duck bill' pointing to the street, made that the covered entrance, the top a deck, and the wall between the two just windows

I'm usually a fan of adding some trees to balance out the front, but this time they really covered too much! That was the coolest part of the building 😢

The play tent is one of my most used items. It also works amazing if you size it down one and it so much easier to use

One of my favorite silly things to do with shells when I'm not being serious is to flip them upside down 😂 take the top level and but it on the bottom floor and then you're extra unique
The shape of this shell remeinds me of the Kran (Crane) Houeses we have in Cologne. They Look really fun you should Look them up!
A bit Like a never fineshed construction Site but its also a really interisting use of space with Skyscrapers.

You should do a tiny homes builds challenge were you used only the styles in the build and buy category selection tab. Rules , only allowed to use the style ticked! And base game as well!
One thing I noticed: If this is community centre you may think about adding a bike rack. Cloak hanger and a mat to wipe your shoes could be nice too 😊
I can't wait to use this shell in my game! You could've made a cafe at the bottom with outdoor seating with a library on top.
