    Small detail. But I wish they could have allowed us to choose how our Sims handle their idle phones.
    Not even approaching the topic of how unimmersive it is for outdoorsy/off-the-grid Sims to be constantly whipping out smartphones. But being someone who isn't addicted and glued to my phone 24/7 I would like to have characters that I can relate to more, especially the more tech-resistant characters as their entire personalities are completely invalidated by this obsessive interaction they do every five literal seconds.
    It's almost a parody animation, as if Sims team was trying to do a "Young people are ALWAYS literally ALWAYS on their phones, so let's set this idle to a 50/50 chance to happen every 30 in-game seconds" kind of thing.

    • @CassieRage3339
      @CassieRage3339 2 месяца назад +62

      Furthermore. They aren't even doing anything on their phones when they use them. It's literally just an idle animation designed to get in the way of other animations, or stack on top of other idle animations and bog up the A"I". There is no actual reason for Sims to be checking their phones in the first place

    • @SineN0mine3
      @SineN0mine3 2 месяца назад +68

      Something they should have started a long time ago is hobbies that result in idle animations. Having some yo-yo skill and a yo-yo in your inventory would mean your sim whips that out instead of a phone when idling.
      Sims could have fidget spinners, fix their makeup, dig through their pockets or any number of idle animations based on what's in their inventory and what skills and interests they have.
      Of course these kinds of features would get culled very early in the design process because they don't translate into immediate profit like half baked game packs about toddlers or babies do.

And there weren't that many video games you'd buy physically at that point, so all I had were free mobile games and flash games. I can't be the only gen z who grew up like that, so no wonder we find ts4 so awesome, no pop-up ads for completely other gamed in the middle of gameplay, that's how low our bar is. So yeah, there is a good chance a lot of simmers (especially young ones like me who didn't play the prev games) have no concept of a high quality game you'd pay for that is made for the players and not for the advertisers.

      I feel the opposite, GT made infants worse for me until I got a mod that doesn’t make every milestone take forever. There wasn’t enough time in the sim day to do enough tummy time to get the kid to crawling and have my Sim work. Especially not on a normal lifespan. Before I knew it, the kid was spawning from infant to toddler and I hadn’t gotten most milestones. Not to mention how many GT infant quirks make them fight going to sleep even when they are exhausted. I don’t care if its “realistic”, its annoying for the hyper speed of a video game where you are trying to get a family’s needs balanced.

      So agreed on everything you said. They could've done so much with milestones to make them useful- traits that automatically are added to your sim if they have specific sets of milestones unlocked, dialogue and career options based on your sims past experiences, getting along better with sims who have had similar life experiences, or learning wisdom from sims who have been through traumatic experiences or let's say if they beat a fire they could teach other sims how to do the same if they encounter a fire for the first time.. I could keep going and going. So much wasted potential. And that's the true heart of the Sims 4. I don't see it ever getting better and I think the franchise is going to tank in the next 10-20 years

    I despise the infants. They are toddlers part two.
    My infant was hungry. I tried to feed him, but every adult sim in the household simply took turns lifting the infant and putting it back onto the floor. Infant’s getting hungrier. Mom picks up the infant a final time before placing him down. It’s time to age up!! Oh, but we can’t age up inside the house for some reason. There isn’t enough room. Instead infant is going to spend an in-game hour or so scooting around the entire house on his knees so he can scoot outside and then around the entire perimeter of the yard to age up. All while getting hungrier. Infant now has enough room to do his stupid flip and ages up into a toddler! A starving toddler! CPS took him before I could even attempt to feed him, though there was a strong chance that the other sims would have simply lifted him up and put him down until he died of starvation.
    This game can be unbearable. I miss the Sims 3.

  • @hooverkinz

    compared to sims 2 memories (milestones) feature, where it’s very fleshed out for every premade sim to tell the lore, some sims may have a negative memory or positive memory of the same event based on their personality and gossip about a certain sim will be based on a memory that happened to them. They will also cry or celebrate or congratulate each other based on recent memories. Each memory type has a description in the panel but not an annoying pop up. And the sims 2 chemistry system vs on the sims 4 compatibility system is also nuts. Sims 2 chemistry is calculated on personality, aspiration, turn on and turn offs, etc and genuinely impacts the relationships and their autonomy with them. NOT TO MENTION RELATIONSHIPS ARE TWO SIDES so one sim can hate the other and the other can be in love with the sims. Anyways rant over back to playing a 20 year old game bc it’s better than sims 4

    Specifically, let’s say I have a sim with medium length hair and I want them to have similar looking hair across all outfits with some slight variation (i.e. up in a ponytail or tied back in a bun). But my only options are to have drastically different hairlines with middle and side-parts that don’t look good at all.
    If they had hairstyles that you could alter slightly to fit your preferences, that’d be swell!

When those external things come under attack, criticism, or scrutiny, these people feel as though their own personal identity has come under attack, criticism or scrutiny and lash out defensively. This is why individuals like yourself who are dripping with personality don't have the same kind of reactions when things you like are challenged; Your sense of self and personal identity come from within rather than from external sources.

    Personally I love the water park. I wish we could have had that all the way back in Sims 2 (luckily someone actually converted the TS4 ones, so I have them in my game now).
    Brings back memories of when my family would go to a public pool when I was a kid (of course the fountains there were actually IN the pool, but zero entry pools aren't a thing in the Sims universe, so I'll take what I can get).
    Also, I think the term you may have been looking for that building is "conservatory" (which are often but not always part of an aboretum). They're often used to grow and protect rare plants and/or as protected space for butterflies to feast and multiply.

    I appreciate your honest reviews - its frustrating, patronising and insulting to my intelligence when people do overly gushing ones, and gloss over the bad points. It easy to get suckered into buying a sims pack because of one or two things about it - like the baby carriers from growing together for example - cool, but not £17.50 from the store worth of cool. Sims packs are pretty expensive for what they are, even from places like CD keys or G2A - there's a lot of other games I could buy for that money. So I always think very carefully before getting a new pack.

    I swear in previous Sims you could place empty lots where ever you wanted? And you could decorate the world around the lots too? Am I going mad? And don't get me started on the lack of gameplay items for infants!!

    I love you in this mood, I laughed so hard multiple times, I nearly peed myself. Good to have a changing table for diapers in Sims 4 !

    The milestone feature was litterally false advertising. They said they would be like sims 2 memories, but it's really just an achievement system. The worst part is infants are the only ones that have a substantial amount of milestones. Children only 5 exclusive to their age group. Also idk if they fixed the glitch where milestones always disappear

    I forgot about heirlooms but they just resold us that with wills in life and death didn't they ? They do love selling us the same old features multiple times under different names.
