[DS3] Dancer of the Boreal Valley Boss Fight + Tips

- This is the second boss that kept me trying again and again. I was VERY close to kill it several times. That's why I recommend equip the character with items that grant you ANY little advantage.
In this video I present a few observations I have for this boss fight. I hope they are useful if you're creating your own strategy for your build.

unlike other boss guides this doesnt just advice "dont stay close to it" or "dont let it hit you" or another obvious stupidities. Great work, I finally beat the thing using the columns

Not sure why, but on all of my playthroughs, this is consistently the most difficult boss for me. Everyone talks about the difficulty of the Nameless Kings, but I feel like he's a breeze compared to the Dancer. Great video, btw!
Nameless Kings took me 5 tries. I'm now on my second hour with this boss, and I still can't beat her.

@@transfiguration8865 Its not that she's hard its that your not a good match with her. Certain builds make the game harder.
The camera on King of Storm is the worst part of the fight. The King on his own is in my opinion one of the most satisfying and fun fights in the game. He's flashy but fair. Tough and Strict but Lenient and Predictable

Tip for the sound cue: go in your menu, turn music down and sound effects up.

Thanks for posting this. Very well done and very helpful. I found this to be one of the tougher bosses in DS3 and your tutorial made it a hell of a lot easier. Wish I'd seen it about 30 failed attempts earlier.

that was an awesome guide, most videos I've seen just show someone beating the boss. the tip about not rolling to either side during the grab is a good one. ill try back stepping. thanks!

thanks for the dark weakness tip! dark fire orbs made quick work of this boss, used a sage ring and baited her attacks easily.

Thanks to your guide I finally beat her. Died almost 15 times before cus I was trying to tank the hits with a shield. Sticking to her left and dodging is definitely the way to go!

Miss this game......i recently sold it because I got up to such a high level that I was just destroying everything and it got boring. :-( watching tutorials brings me back though. Great strategy. Ironically, you were using the exact same gear I was using. The Dark Sword is the best weapon in the game to me. That and Anris Straight Sword (high luck scaling). When I got the Dark Sword I never looked back.

You could have just said "Use the Dark Sword", but it's a neat video. Probably should have suggested which equipment to use for a benefit, shown the rings you had equipped, and pointed out a couple of her moves earlier (the AoE dark stuff in particular), but I like it.
Your subtitles were the truth, along with the passing and opaque effects. What program did you use? This is a perfectly done video.
If it helps, I noticed the Dancer tends to be less inclined to using her more ridiculous attacks if you stay as close as possible, but it doesn’t rule them out entirely.
great guide and I have another tip don't be afraid of her dying isn't that bad and use embers later in the fight not at the start
This guide is really well made, especially the cut-ins demonstrating things you point out.
Do you have tips for taking on the dancer before Vordt?
it's an interesting challenge, I've seen people using shields with 100% physical defence and Uchigatana, with a Dexterity & Vitality build.
But at the end, if you're not using some glitch in the game nor making co-op, you always have to learn the moves of the dancer.

Roll into the hand, not away from it. This is because the hand has a hitbox the size of a small school bus, so it can still catch you.

I accidentally started the boss I died watched this exact video and beat it because of this video.
I wanna add a few things when fighting this boss ;
1.Stay on her left side whenever you traverse through the fog the dance will approach you either left side or right side. If it approach you on the right as you face her thats lucky since you need to worry less of her motionless dagger slash on the left side where she holds the dagger. just stay on her right side and hits 1-2 hits while observing her movement then roll away.
2.The dancer during her 1st phase seems more ''docile'' than her 2nd face if you are lucky enough you can hit her multiple times while staying on her right (WARNING! dont spam your attack just hit her ONCE while looking at her and repeat as you stick close to her if all went well she will just walk around looking at you)
3.Bleeds weapon is effective against her , lightning and also dark weapon since her health isnt much so bursting her down is the fast way to kill her. buff before traversing into the fog and follow tips 1 and 2.
4.When she enter her 2nd phase stay behind her butts as close as you can while hitting her (dont exhaust all your stamina just hits her a few times then stick behind her) dont run, dodge or roll while being close behind her. lift up your shield while walking close behind her as she dances and after 3-6 rounds dance (counts) dodge aways behind her because she will do a AOE spins attack for her last spinning dance.
5.Rinse and repeat the steps but beware if she pull the 5 hits combo since its unusual (usually when you get too aggresive hitting her or comboing her) just dodge her attack while she is in phase 2 and hit only ONCE for a success dodge and escape if she decided to swing her sword furiously.
That is all I wanna tell people who had trouble with other strategies :) It works for me lol (after 30+ attempt that is)

I really liked the way you made this video, congratz! As a minor feedback from a viewer, I saw that many guides lack an explanation of all the moveset of the target boss. You're doing a much better job, but you're not explaining every combo she makes. I think it might seriously ruin the experience, but if someone needs to view a guide in order to defeat a boss, he might want to know every move she's doing, no?
Thanks for your comment and feedback, I really appreciate it, and I agree in that point, but if I include a list of all movements and combos, also immunities and weaknesses would make my text-only videos even longer an boring.
I've seen videos on youtube that describe in detail every boss, and it works better on a narrated video.

After dying to the dancer like 20 times, I went back to the fire link shrine and killed everyone!

I would have taken like 100 shots for the dancer alone
i just wanted to find a bonefire man. Didn't want to enter one of the hardest boss fight so early in the game
I always end up dying when she slams one sword down and slashes with the other. Can't seem to figure out which way to roll for it
I did it by not using any melee. I used Dorhy's Gnawing. First hit is 82 pts of damage, the second hit is 515 damage. Just ran around the outside casting this spell and refilling mana and HP.
A few questions:
Did you tackle this boss before or after killing 3 lords of cinder?
What gear were you using?
What level were you?

+Adi S Yes, I Killed the 3 previous Lords before facing the Dancer. I was lvl. 77 at the time, 30 dexterity, 20 strength, 30 endurance, 15 vigor.
Using the Grass Crest Shield, Dark Sword +6 or 7, Herald Armor, Brass Leggings and Elite Knight Helm.
I can’t use the lighting resins can anyone please give me an advice/help ASAP thank you
one of my reasons losing to her is miscalculating the range of my weapon at times, fuck up reading her attacks(gets punished after), that godamn grab, and fckng up my stamina

I actually fought her without that much of a difficulty, her atttacks are pretty predictible once you have dodged them enough and I stayed mostly behind her when you go for the damage.
good video. in this game my main enemy is her XD few times i was very near how to defeat the dancer... problem is the lot of estus usage because i am knight and the close attack is only the powerful with high risk. yah the abyss watchers lord of cinder is fallen :D more than nothing

I’ve gotten it half way below half health but it’s second phase I just can’t seem to time
