Four years later and I want you to know this video is the only reason I was able to beat him. I’m 42 so the reflexes ain’t what they used to be. 7 hours of getting my ass handed to me and then suddenly it was like when Neo finally can see the matrix. I still had 11 Estes flasks left when I took him down. Feels so good right now 😃
@@flacko8885 I saw you twice today dude. I see you looked up a few videos on how to beat the Nameless king. It's a month ago so you mostly beat him alright.
The key for me to beat nameless king was understanding that his attacks have a much longe wind up than most others. Once i understood that i just had to wait a second after seeing the telegraph then roll he became much easier, still incredibly diffocult but easier
I died so many times that the original fight against the storm drake is so easy I can beat it without taking a single hit. The second phase on the other hand required patience and you cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be greedy or else you will die. I had one more hit on the boss and I got greedy and a lightning strike killed me, let's just say I didn't play the game for about 3 days after but when I finally beat him that was the best feeling of my life...
Btw what I used was the fallen night armor set while 2 handing Fugs (Fume Ultra Greatsword). The weapon itself requires 50 strengh to use but once you get to 35 strength I think you can 2 hand it with no problem.
Tbh this is one of those bosses where the pure annoyance of the fight way outweighs any satisfaction I could get from killing him. This is easily the boss I most died to. No bosses except Gundyr took me more than 10 attempts. But my god, this boss is absolutely retarded. At least the bonfire is right next to the fight otherwise my annoyance factor would lead me to straight up not do this fight anymore.
@@Finkelfunk Gundyr the Champion right? Another boss that might be on the same level of the Namless King is probably Midir, he's just too imbalanced imo.
This video break down is outright amazing, while it didn't help me as much as I thought I would have hoped. (Still died 5 or more times trying to get timings) I did eventually beat the bastard once I understood the delay. I super appreciate how well you break down the attacks.
I’ve been strugiling with this fight for hours and my first attempt after watching your video resulted in my victory. THANK YOU VERY MUCH I COULD NOT SLEEP LAST NIGHT BECAUSE OF HIM.
i summoned a player which chunked lightning at the dragon and magic at the king, the fight took 30 seconds, max. anyway. so the Nameless king is a 3 phased boss?
Phase 1: NK mounting his Dragon Phase 2: NK attacking with basic Melee and Lighting attacks. Phase 3: NK uses all of its damn lightning power on you with new moves
I'd like to add one extra thing to your already nicely comprehensive guide. During the second phase, if you create a good amount of distance between you and NK, he becomes quite passive, giving you a generous amount of time to heal, or even do ranged attacks. At far range, you'll have to watch out for the shockwaves attacks and rarely will he go for his air dive. . When you are roughly 10 metres away from him, he'll start becoming aggressive again.
This is an amazing guide. After struggling with him for days, I beat him on first try after watching this. That tip to bait his air lunge attack is GOLD.
Don't you just love it when you're fighting this guy and it looks like you may win then you lose connection and get kicked to the title screen? repeatedly? I love it! Almost as much as I love getting kicked right in the gonads Twice With a steel chair By hulk with little rocket boosters on the chair itself to make it swing faster oh! and with spikes! lovely feeling
Heedfulconch3 I had been attempting to best the Nameless King for an hour and a half and every single fight; it seemed like From Software flipped a coin and decided whether or not my character would actually dodge. In one instance; my character didnt start running until a full five seconds after I inputted the button, when I was at full stamina. Point being, the FromSoft gods apparently decided to smile down at me and every dodge I was inputting was put into action, it was great. TNK was almost dead; but then the game kicked me onto the menu screen. I managed to keep my cool, saying “oh it’s okay, the game’s actually listening to me now. Next fight? Resumed pretending the circle button wasnt a thing.
Thanks for the video mate. Very clear and well explained. It took me 2 tries after watching it to defeat the guy after failing all day. Liked and subscribed
The fight mechanics from this fight was amazing. Especially when he is on the dragons back fighting you flying around. They put a lot of thought and time into this boss. Really fun fight.
I wanted to see if this was like every other TNK guide video where people use the crossbow for 2nd phase. But no, very good guide/insight! I wish I saw this for my first time fighting TNK, instead of "Easy crossbow kill Nameless King". Eventually got it using Wolf Knight GS, but this will help a lot of people who are struggling right now. Thank you!
Very nice guide! Just an addition: for the 3-hit combo at 2:10, sometimes TNK will only swing twice, but it's very easy to see if he's going to do the third.
You're awesome. Thank you so much! I've been trying to learn how to dodge the second phase and I always die and have to start over on the dragon, which screws up my rhythm.

Before watching this guide, I struggled to survive a minute in first phase... then after watching I killed him on third attempt. Really great guide! Also, I recommend faster weapon like katana, it worked better for me for quick punishes.
My first kill on him was by using a Lightning Lothric Knight Sword +10 for the dragon, then switching to I believe my Chaos Estoc for the Nameless King himself. I don't think fire's necessarily his weakest defense, but Lightning is definitely good against the dragon, and not as good against NK himself, so you'll want to switch to a different weapon. Also, I found I was able to do MORE damage one handing my Knight Sword on the dragon instead of two handing it. Possibly just due to faster attacks, though I never took note of exactly how much damage a single hit was doing. I'll probably check that when I fight him on my NG++.
Lindsey Ormsbee What about +10 sellsword twinsblades (sharp)? I haven't fought him yet, but I'm thinking of using the Sunlight Straight Sword +3 with Charcoal resin.

Step 4: Profit!!! Sweet, sweet, cowardly profit!! :=)
I used the drake blood great sword for the dragon (with lightning pine resin) and switched to the dragonslayer spear when I fought the nameless king. I used drake blood armor
its amazing seeing how fast you are able to swing the camera angles to keep an eye on what is going on, and to be prepared for different attacks. on xbone the boss fights are slowed down so dramatically that its practically impossible to judge whats going to happen next. just nearing most boss rooms slows gameplay down so much that its hard to avoid even early game knights attacks. its pretty stupid and frustrating. im hoping this is improved with the one x. or i guess console just isnt the way to go
The lunges are great openings for a quick hit inbetween each. Instead of running, work your way around him, and it usually triggers his easy to dodge dash
Aside from the actual advice which was a big help, thanks for using the Washing Pole in this. Decided to try it myself, I got the King himself down to about 25%. If I had one more Estus or remembered I have Divine Blessings, I'm sure I could have beat him then and there
He recently pulled that crap on 6:16 against me. In that moment I stopped feeling bad for killing him with a Dark Sword and Dragonslayer Greatshield on my first run. Anyway, this is a great guide. The only thing I'd add is that he no longer gets easely staggered in second phase. I only manage to bring him to his knees once in a fight. I didn't even know half of his moves were actually some sort of third phase.
I hate the first phase more than the second. The King of The Storms head hitbox is absolute cancer. And attacking anywhere else does 6x less damage (for me) and when your attempting to attack its head the nameless king attacks you from above and the only real warning is the sound.
Typically, I'm on my Dex/Faith build if I go as a summon for other people and toss those Sunlight Spears till the bird drops dead. Then it's really onto just hugging the NK's blindspots and waving a shit load of Dorhy's Gnaw at him and the occasional carthus-rouge buffed katana. If not 2 waves of that, the bleed will set off on the 3rd contact.
I only have major problems with his lightning bolt that seems to strike when he lifts his spear up after the charge, I have no idea when to time it and the way I'm trying to calculate the time either has me pressing the button to a point where it doesn't seem to regester or too early
"when he decides to smash R1" lol very nice of you to make this vid. thank you. im a little pissed now, i backed up save and leveled from 75 to 120 for practice and beat him 2nd try. now back to lvl 80 and cant last one minute. doing the same damage as 120 but i must have gotten lucky on the one i beat him. this fight reminds me of Fume knight in ds2. that fucking delay before attacks is the whole fight. will take a while to get those times down, but after should be "easy" hehehe btw, it would have helped more if you had your hud up. i keep wondering how much damage you are doing. and the pauses you put in make it hard for me to "time" my pausing. it would be nice to see some of the full animations in real time and the pauses dont allow that.
Very nice video, very detailed. It probably took some time so thanks you, it will help a lot of players strugling with him and also myself during our next encounter.
Chaos Bed Vestige pyro in phase 2 with 40 Dex/Faith/Int and increased Faith, Int, and Pyro rings will burn him down pretty quickly. Almost 600 damage per cast. Just walk backwards slowly and make sure he doesn't corner you. While he is stalking you just keep launching your pyro and you should be able to beat him pretty quickly.
if u have dragonslayer greatsheild with thunder stoneplate ring u will block every thing he do and wait for his jump to hit 2 attacks then repeat the prosses
1st playthrough it took me about 36 tries maybe more, 2nd playthrough i did it in 2 tries and now im watching this video to see if i can make it easier next tim
On speedy dex builds, nameless king is not bad at all. But it's the slower strength/tank builds where he is an issue. At least for me. I destroyed him with my dex build with a sharp lothric sword +10 but it took me a few dozen times with my tank build (full caterina or full havels set) with yhorm's machete/dragonslayer axe.
As strange as it sounds I think if the bonfire was further away It'd be better as I'd have more time to think about what needs to be done instead of just shaking with anticipation everytime I warp to the belfry, yekno?

btw, it would have helped more if you had your hud up. i keep wondering how much damage you are doing. and the pauses you put in make it hard for me to "time" my pausing. it would be nice to see some of the full animations in real time and the pauses dont allow that.
That's some nice guide. But do you mind telling what song you used while teaching us the movements of the Nameless King?
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Menu Theme
Very nice video, very detailed. It probably took some time so thanks you, it will help a lot of players strugling with him and also myself during our next encounter.
I'm using BKS, I can get though to his 2nd phase(well 3rd phase if you count the wyvern), which attacks do i punish?
Chaos Bed Vestige pyro in phase 2 with 40 Dex/Faith/Int and increased Faith, Int, and Pyro rings will burn him down pretty quickly. Almost 600 damage per cast. Just walk backwards slowly and make sure he doesn't corner you. While he is stalking you just keep launching your pyro and you should be able to beat him pretty quickly.
Sunlight Spear is better for the first phase. :)
if u have dragonslayer greatsheild with thunder stoneplate ring u will block every thing he do and wait for his jump to hit 2 attacks then repeat the prosses
Excellent guide. Thanks.-
Awesome breakdown, great tips! The one thing in wondering is why carthus rouge when the site claims he's resistant to bleed damage?
Thank you so much for this guide it was the best one and helped me a lot
If you use the weapon art with the dragonslayer swordspear(the nameless king's weapon), you can do over 900 damage to the dragon.
Estou precisando de um vídeo desse no príncipe demônio SL1 pois é bem detalhado e ótimo.
This is the best TNK guide ever! I beat him 2nd try thanks to you! THANK YOU! MAY THE FLAMES GUIDE THEE! \[T]/
Carthus Bloodring is actually a lifesaver here. Just be sure you more or less time his delayed strikes.
Best guide ive seen for tnk. Wish i watched it before i spent 4 hours on him
haha same here xD
and it took me like 50 attempts lol
For anyone who is struggling with him do the bow strategy it works great I just used a +10 black bow of pharis
really nice guide, gonna try him right away. just had time to try him once yesterday and the camera fucked me up big time haha
1st playthrough it took me about 36 tries maybe more, 2nd playthrough i did it in 2 tries and now im watching this video to see if i can make it easier next tim
The music is video is pretty scary. I love it.
This dude kicked my ass and served me for dinner even with this super helpful guide I can't even beat him
this was so helpful !
As strange as it sounds I think if the bonfire was further away It'd be better as I'd have more time to think about what needs to be done instead of just shaking with anticipation everytime I warp to the belfry, yekno?
