Ohhhhhhhh ok
In Dawn of the planet of the apes that whole scene where Koba leads the apes to fight the humans has to be one of the best cinematic scenes I have ever seen in my life.
You clearly haven't watched many films then.
The Macabre Gamer he said one of the best not best
@@TheMacabreGamer You attacked my wife.
@@TheMacabreGamer yeah if your opinion isn't the same as mine you're obviously a big stupid idiot! And you aren't cultured about movies like the macabre gamer obviously is.
Same aswell
Koba was the joker in Dawn. I gonna take this gun and make these bullets disappear. Koba is one of the best non human villains of all time
He may have been the antagonist but you can't call him a villain
@J LOCC dude if what happened to koba happened to any one of us , i don't think we will able to forgive and forget . Very few have that kind of will power
His desire for revenge may have lead to him doing many terrible things , but that is something any average person would do anyday
@@zedankhan6123 a villain in a movie doesn't mean it can't have a reason to be the villain
Almost all villains have been mistreated in the past, which made them a villain

The original is an absolute classic, years ahead of its time, but the reboot trilogy is simply stunning. Rebooting a beloved franchise and having the reboot and both sequels be of such consistently great quality is something we rarely see these days, and the reboots have to be one of the best trilogies I've ever seen.
The new franchise's acting, CGI & Motion Capture is legendary. Andy Serkis is just amazing.
"NO!"That my friends, is a quote I will never forget.

"Dawn" is by far the best movie of the franchise. Also, because it works as a single movie, you dont need to watch any other.
I actually disagree. I think War is far better than Dawn.
@@errwhattheflip how about rise
Erm you kind off do need to know wtf happened to the human race and,how apes are talking
@@JLOCC23424 it was kinda recapped at the beginning of Dawn tho. so yeah Dawn works as a solo movie, but ofc would be better and make more sense if you watched Rise first. even War had a text recap intro, a very short summarization of Rise and Dawn.

That "Noooo!!!" Could've been heard for miles.
I don't care what people say about them, I will always hold a special place in my heart for the originals. (I do love the reboot franchise though.)

Fun fact the reboot version of the planet of the apes is a trillogy with all movies great!! I say this, because the most franchises got ruined by the third movie!! (Spiderman, Matrix)

There's no doubt that the original series has its own iconic moments and charm.
But in terms of characters, story and drama; the reboot stands superior. Which is surprising because almost always, reboots are garbage
@Branden Wright like?
No remakes are mostly garbage. Reboote have a decent track record.

I mean, don't they technically sound the same
@@sadlobster1 they are not
Remakes have the same story and characters, they are just made with better graphics (not always with better graphics) so the new generations can grow up with it too. While a reboot uses the same characters but changes the way some things happened in the story
I respect you’re opinion but i disagree.....
I just love the 70's ambiance of the original's background music.Something about it is just pleasing to my ears.
I love the original planet of the apes because it takes me back to when I was a boy and my brother and I saw all 5 movies at our local cinema. I also love the new versions as well.
Yeah The king Your Fathers house

I’m gonna be honest, the new movie series should be more recognized in my opinion as it’s one of my favourite movie series of all time. The beautiful soundtrack (especially in the second and last one) AND the stories for each movie always keep the audience watching and re-watching in the future. Barely any trilogies have the power to keep making the next movie even better and more interesting except the new movie series wit Caesars story. Mad respect for the new trilogy fr

Well said I love classic movies ALOT too but people should be honest with themselves storyline? Bro the reboot storyline was crazy and then you want to argue Andy Serkis being Caesar ? Just shows who is bias just because the reboot is better does not mean the original is useless understand that.
Original: Discrimination
Reboot: Animal Abuse
yeah really...who is the racist? lol
@@memoranda1 well I mean I only see that in the original movies, the entire purpose of why apes are ruling the entire world was because humans were keeping them as slaves, and so the apes started a revolution and bam, there it is.
"Reboot: Animal Abuse"...that's akin to saying the 2009 Friday the 13TH movie is ableism against the mental disabilities ...
The original is a classic and he best 'planet of the apes' movie. But the sequels to it are meh/shit imo.
Whereas the reboot trilogy has equally great movies. Therefore I prefer the reboot although the original is one of my favourite movies
Matthew Tait that's actually pretty smart and mature. Where are comments like yours?

TRUEEEEEEE
I honestly love both of them equally each unique in their own ways
Cesar's speech by Roddy McDowell is timeless
We shall found our own armies, our own religion, our own dynasty, and that day, is upon you, NOW!
I thought the new franchise was a prequel series.
Edit: Nevermind, I watched the originals again. The prequels are Conquest of and Battle for. Escape from is a semi-sequel, it takes place both after and before the originals, the movies were caused by a time paradox where Cornelius and Zira’s son, Caesar, leads the ape revolution.
nope its a reboot... but some news I've heard that this third one (2017) might lead into the original ones.... so I guess well find out by friday.
scratch that... there might be a fourth one being made... so its a reboot.

slome jelle the comment made by Luke Pilkington is as obvious as the statement, "Water is wet."
Overall, yes. But not better than the first.
The original franchise from 1968 to 1974 is king. When I was young our bikes were horses and any toy machine gun or rifle were Apes rifles. We played very active Planet of the Apes role play make believe games. Running, jumping, wrestling, fast riding our bikes. The new franchise has not had that kind of impact on today's kid's activities. Plus the iconic original concept makeup is far more impressive than the safe make them look like real apes look. The original franchise was Star Wars before Star Wars. Masks from 3 different companies. Costumes from only one. Action figures, comic books, magazines. All 5 movies released in theaters, puzzles, novels, wastepaper baskets, Apes piggy banks, model kits. All that made being a kid fun and exciting. And now 50 years later on the anniversary of the first movie the whole original franchise is still thrilling. The original was a seismic shift in cultural events. The new movies are just movies.
I think there's more to the original than the new. The character depth is a lot stronger in the old one..
Eldercoar I disagree. Caesar in the new movies is one of the single greatest characters of all time. His story arc astounds me.
@@polareyes4574 I think we're missing the middle ground - the very first one. It's a masterpiece with all kinds of complex sociological themes and one of the best endings I've ever seen in a movie. Then there's the crappy sequels and attempts to revive it in the early 2000s. The reboots were really good though.
Not from what I've seen

OMG, children here crying about how the old ones look stupid, LOL! I'm just 17 years old but please have respect for the old ones.. they are classics.
JarinDL
Agreed! I'm younger than you, but even I think that they should be respected, even if they aren't your favorite. They were doing the best they had at the time. Besides, we'll probably have even better technology in the future, and today's will seem late to those futuristic people. Doesn't mean they actually are. People just need to stop whining and complaining.
JarinDL They do look stupid. it's ridiculous to say they don't. Sure, they did what they could at the time, but that doesn't change anything by this point
Cecily Kelly
They simply said that people should respect them. Yes, they don't look eerily realistic, but they are indeed classic, and should receive the respect they reserve.
The old ones are stupid. I love the original one, but Beneath is just stupid (mutants? really?), Escape suddenly says that Medieval-like chimps can fix and use a spaceship, Conquest was quite boring and Battle shouldn't even exist
im 16 and I don't see why people are hating on the originals they used costumes the new reboot uses CG I think
And the winner is... Sharknado
no
Oh yeah that movie were the sharks look so fake and they've been working on those movies for ages. And they still can't make the sharks look realistic. :-)
I wonder what the story would be if Caesar hadn't tried to protect Will's father.
I wonder what the story would be if ceasar mom never had babies
That's the butterfly effect which made Caesar into his prime version
Dawn was more than a "solid sequel" that shit was jaw-dropping
"We, who are not human, can afford to be humane." Love that line.
New one....sorry I just like it better.
same. The reboot is better than the old one. Which is rare cause most reboots suck
It's important to remember that the novel's story was altered quite a bit for the original film so it'd be cheaper to make and to get Heston on board. Nobody was planning for a franchise, and even when Fox would eventually decide they wanted a sequel, they'd skimp on the budget, which in turn affected how each installment was written. The last one only had like $1 million to work with.
These days we expect sequels. The new franchise seems to be not only what's possible with modern movie-making techniques (camerawork, editing, and plot structure as well as believable CGI), but also with respect for the source, and a modern mindset and perspective -- audiences are willing to cheer on the apes as they overthrow humanity because a character like Caesar is no longer presented as a novelty. I was really glad they didn't do an actual rewrite or re-envisioning because I can enjoy them as a part of the overall story, rather than focusing so much on comparing a new version to the old.
I loved the old series especially Conquest, but the reboot was not only a pleasant surprise but a genuinely better film. In my opinion I thought the reboot did a fine job recreating the franchise from new grounds and just in general left a very strong impression. I am very excited to go and watch War For the Planet of The Apes when I get a chance.
Disagree, Original is better, New is pretty good, but the original was more powerful and the first one alone carries it to victory. And the sequels get more hate than they deserve and actually are decent films
Michael Cohen And why does it wins? Because it's old?
No it wins because it has a superior storyline, way better acting and great social commentary and satire! Much more interesting than the CGI crap we see in today's movies.
I agree with everything said here. People say the old one’s sequels are crap but I think they are actually pretty interesting. The old makeup is also a lot better than the modern cgi crap.
The Bannonoos guy RebelX how is the Cgi crap? The apes look so realistic in war, not like that silly clown make up in the old ones, also boring to watch and uninteresting, unlike that new ones with Andy serkis’ spectacular performances in each movie, unlike those silly things in the old ones, and good and interesting stories with better set pieces and cinematography, so the new ones are better with superior acting, story arcs, characters, soundtracks, visuals, stop living in the past yall😂
Some people just prefer old because it reminds them of their youth. The old one is famous for its twisted ending, but as far as story plot line and character depths, the new one takes the win.
Can't we all just agree the Tim Burton version sucked ass??
DasKame I guess it's a nice middle finger to the audience after all they sat throught

I remember watching the old franchise as a kid and was so stoked for the new ones and was not disappointed at all.
The original and Conquest are definitely the strongest of the old films (though all are great imho)
However I love the in-depth characters, more scientificly grounded plot, and tighter narrative of the new movies
(I'll always remember sitting in the theater for Rise and when Ceaser first spoke there was complete silence. Then one guy said "Oh shit, the monkey talked!" and everyone just laughed. Most real experience I ever had at a theater.)

As someone who saw the new franchise first, I was already impressed by the movies alone but watching the originals after not only made me appreciate both franchises but changed some of the ways I had seen the new franchise making it more impactful since I didnt know the references to the older ones being made.
Something to consider here: The original Apes movies were done at a time when sequels weren't common. None of them were even thought of when the original was being made. With the reboots, the entire life story of Caesar was plotted out and planned ahead for all three movies. In the originals, the studio demanded a sequel after the success of the first movie. And so it was written. The writers were trying to put a stop to any more sequels by having Taylor destroy the Earth. But the studio demanded one, hence the "time travel back" plot. Also, the budgets for the original movies were slashed due to the box office bombing of OTHER movies. The Apes movies were each successful, yet each succeeding one was allocated a lot less money to make. One last thing; the ending to Battle for the Planet of the Apes, where John Houston's performance of the Law Giver was accompanied by a statue of Caesar crying literally brings a tear to my eye, no matter how many times I've seen it. Aside from the "Statue of Liberty" reveal, it's the most emotion driven scene in all of the apes movies.
Mentioned this above. Also, Heston did not want to do a sequel and agreed to a mere cameo. Finally, I think (Beneath) got shot when Roddy McDowell was committed to a film he was directing in England at the time.
@@kevinbergin9971 Yep. Absolutely correct. Heston even said in the "Behind the Planet of the Apes" documentary that he wanted a "low fee", and that it should be donated to a school or something. Pretty classy move, if you ask me. I honestly didn't notice as a kid that Roddy McDowell wasn't in Beneath, but that adds credit to the actor who took over the role for playing it so well. Can't think of his name off the top of my head, and I should know this, being that I was around for the whole "Go Ape" promotion of the mid 1970s.
RIP Caesar.
Anybody else cry during War for the Planet of the Apes😭 I cried atleast 5 times
No, because I'm not a woman!
Let's just forget about Tim Burtons remake...
I dont understand why its so hated i liked it mostly because the villains and the way they look
It is superior to the cgi turd reboot
Just stating that the Caesar from the original franchise was the grandson from the Caesar of the new franchise, considerating that in the War for the Planet of the Apes, was stablished that, from the Caesar family, the only whose survive was the little Cornellius. Probably, Zaius is son of Maurice.
The old one will always be better, it has a timeloop story related to the birth of Ceaser which is cool and was all done during Vietnam (68-73) so had lots of social commentary that's still relevant and can be dissected many ways in Philosphy, PoliSci, Sociology classes, probably Anthro too. It's just genius on many levels but yes graphically it looks cheesy to Millennials but the new one does take some aspects of that to make it still thoughtful and worthy of being deep. Hope the new one is great! I do see how there, as a whole, are many more boring parts to the original (mainly in the 2nd and 5th one) but still I think has enough staying power. I have read the original book and recommend it, it's like reading a cool Twilight Zone episode!
I watched all 8 movies and in all honesty. The uprising, the theme and distinction of mankind was better in the new movies explained. While the orginal was better in commentary and politics, the newer films are overall better as a movie.
Let's be honest, the new ones shit on the old ones

The originals are classics, and had amazing CGI effects for its time! But the reboot is like one of my favourite movies! Amazing!
No CGI in the originals. All practical and makeup effects.
Forget King Kong, Caesar is the true King of the Apes!
The new franchise was so enjoyable. All three movies were awesome
There's no "ape" movie that'll top the ending of the first one. Taylor, the Statue of Liberty, & "DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL"!
Likewise, with films such as "Psycho", the surprise ending blew everyone away. We, along with Taylor, soon learned
that we'd been back on earth all the time, and we all felt Taylor's shock & pain to the max.
To be honest, I think the Rise Trilogy is better.
Not only did it give us a rather believable backstory as to how the Apes rose to power over the course of just three films. But the drama, the action and the characters just resonate a bit stronger for me.
When I saw how horribly the Apes were being treated, I actually felt HAPPY that humans were dying. Whereas with the original series; the humans aren't that likeable (to me,) the action didn't quite feel that exciting and there was no diversity among the looks of the Apes. In the Rise Trilogy; every primate had its own unique look, personality and stature.
Despite them both being chimps; I could actually tell Caesar and Koba apart from each other based on their stature, mannerisms, behavior and personalities. Whereas in the original...the Apes all looked exactly the same (and I don't mean that in a racist way.) I couldn't tell one from the other, due to how they looked and acted. Plus, as cool as it would seem to have fully intelligent, standing upright apes dominate the humans; having them manage to outfight, outsmart AND out-hunt the humans while still looking like typical primates left more of an impression with me.
Seeing Caesar and his hunting party take on a herd of deer AND a bear with a relative ease in Dawn was awesome to see. The same thing could be said with watching these "dumb animals" (as Gary Oldman's character call them) take the humans down with equal skill in a fight. Meanwhile, the original version of the Ape warriors showed little to no sign of their original ape abilities (which...I suppose was due to there being no motion-capture CG in the old days.)
Still, seeing the OG Apes fight isn't all that impressive; after watching the ones from the Rise Trilogy fight
you daft racist.
Why is it, whenever watchmojo shows CGI it looks so shit especially in comparison to when i watched the movie myself?
Funkz Propably looks better or a large HD movie screen than a small phone or laptop screen.

the new series is very good but its just not as good as the original.
I would exactly call any planet of the apes movie very possible...
I agree, real acting with real characters, not voice overs
Here is what happened. Planet of the Apes was literally the first movie franchise as we know it today. That meant that in 1968 there was no concept of a franchise and no planning for one when producing the first film. In fact the actor who pushed to get the film made in the first place, Charlton Heston, absolutely no need for a follow-up film and when finally having his arm Twisted to do it still made them agree to use him only sparingly which limited their choices in writing the screenplay. That meant all of the latter part of the film with the radioactive New York and the radioactive people was meant to go on much much longer and was supposed to be the main part of the film. But with Heston not cooperating they had to waste a bunch of time in this film with other actors and save has to ingest for the ending which really screwed up their creative ideas for what they could do. Because the original screenplay made no room for sequels it meant they were having their backs pushed against the wall writing wise where they had to figure out how to continue a series when the world is destroyed. The bottom line is that the original series was forced to undergo plot twists as it went along that were not cohesive and even somewhat plausible together compared to the reboot Series. The first series had holes in its plot that never were really explained at least not believably. Anyway because it was such a shocking success in the early part of 1968 that the 20th Century Fox executives pressed producer Richard Zanuck and Charlton Heston to make another film and withheld other projects they wanted to force them into it. If they had understood just how huge and what potential Planet of the Apes actually could have this thing would have been planned out well like the reboot was. And then they would have understood that they could not just cut the budget with every successive pota movie making them more and more cheap looking. The success came as a complete shock to everybody in the business just like they were shocked at the success of Jaws 7 years later. And that film had really really really unnecessary sequels that sucked unbelievably hard. The one thing the original Series has is the writing of the first film. It had incredible original outside the box thinking. The French author who wrote the original novel saw the original 1968 film and in an interview I read this man was absolutely kicking himself that he did not think of that ending.
I love your videos dude
I agree. The new ones pay such a great service to the original, and its ideas. They are both great movies, and hopefully the next ones will be too. You can't beat the original. I remember watching the first one for the first time as a kid, many many years after they were all done. I had the hardest time watching them. They were waking nightmares. Which is what i assume they were supposed to be. Overall the new ones are better, only because the original sequels were done slightly under duress, and that is very obvious in each following movie. First 3 were spectacular in their own rights. The next 2? Mmm, not so much. lol
For me I like all of the films past and present and even the TV series. I was brought up on the originals so they will always hold a special place within me. Yes the newer ones are going to look so far superior due to the upgrade in visual effects. But the originals will always be my favourites.
I saw the original around the time of rise of the planet of the apes, but damn that ending had me jumping out of my seat
The new trilogy is miles better
Way more realistic
And im not talking about just the special effects
The whole idea and setting is miles better
this is like the dark knight trilogy
In what way is this like the dark knight trilogy, they have absolutely nothing in common
Your vs. series is always obvious. you just give each one a point after the other
Yeah its so obvious
Nothing beats the original
Who watch the whole classic movies 🍿 to be prepared for the new movie 😅
Nothing Beats The 1968 Original.
The new films are clearly better because they look better, they're newer and better acted
That's a very silly reason for them to win, to be honest. You cannot compare the special effects like that and the acting in the original film was fantastic, anyway. Being newer means nothing. The original is a classic.
fearing Ohio69 Dumbest argument ever. I preffer the new franchise, but there are another reasons that can support your opinion like Story, characters, etc
fearing Ohio69 By that logic Casablanca is a shit movie?
Stay in school kid
I wouldn't go as far as saying they were acted better. Charleton Heston and Roddy Macdowall are better actors than most of the new casts.
Well. If you're talking about a technical standpoint only then yes. Obviously. But we're not talking about a technical standpoint only we're talking about the movies as a whole. From a cinematic storytelling standpoint. That's where your statement is flawed.
its been only 5 days that the last movie was out that ive seen it 2 times already, so damn good
While I think that overall the new series is better, it probably wouldn't exist with the original series. In a way, it's kind of unfair to compare the two. Keep in mind that the sequels in the original series were made on fairly small budgets. What has me coming back to them is the story that is told throughout the five movies. Critically, the newer movies are better received but the original series had a some solid sci-fi writing, even if it had the occasional plot hole here and there. Also, the original Apes series was really one of the first successful sci-fi movie series' that translated to merchandise- predating Star Wars. This doesn't mean the original series is better but these are thing to consider.
With the exception of the Tim Burton movie, I like all of the Apes movies and feel that it's one of the most underrated sci-fi franchises out there.
This kind of makes me want to experience being an ape in ceasar's tribe
Old franchise is better in every aspect
ScreenHackTV Nope.
Growing up with the original movie series and TV series, captured my imagination. The makeup was groundbreaking. I have watched them countless times. The new series is really well done but I have only watched them once.
sometimes i click on watchmojo videos just for the backgorund music the background music for this video is my favourite
I cant be the only one who doesn t enjoy the old ones.
I mean they won't be for everyone, but they are classics and without them we wouldn't have this incredible new trilogy. Credit where it's due
Brad Wright Trey. Either you liked the original or not you have to give it credit for kickstarting a series of its own. I mean hey memes don't make themselves ya know.
The new franchise only has CGI as it's wow factor. The original had good acting by great actors. Great make up and ground breaking special effects. And above all else, good old fashioned story telling. Everything the new franchise lacks.
Trace Greathouse If you think the new franchise has only wow factor you are not the brightest
I haven't seen them.
for making me cry the new franchise wins
R.I.P Buck 😭
The original planet of the apes looks like they are about to go on a robbery at bank
Was Claude Akins playing General Aldo? I know that Mark "Sarek Of Vulcan" Leonard played Urko on the TV series.
