The fact that this reboot/prequel trilogy was able to achieve such high quality that the Star Wars sequel trilogy failed to, is just amazing.
Well, the trilogy was released during a time when writers weren’t sniffing….snowflakes…and still had their marbles intact.

This franchise is awesome
They had an excellent creative team with directors Rupert Wyatt (Rise…) and Matt Reeves (both sequels) and their writers used some of the lore set up in the OG series, but didn’t copy the entire homework and gave Caesar a new origin (in the OG series he is the son of Cornelius and Zira who helped Taylor) and it’s one of the most heartbreaking
I can't wait to see the next Planet of the Apes movies. 🎉
The Legacy Of Ceasar Lives On
I didn’t think the new installment would be any good when they initially announced it, but yeah it more than delivered. The sequels really built the world under Matt Reeves’ brilliant direction & was a good redo of the later OG Apes sequels
I shed a tear when Caesar died.
Just watched it last night😫
It was a pretty beautiful ending for him. The limited dialogue, emotional expressions and lush score really hit the feels

I rewatched the series yesterday, just lost my grandma to Alzheimer’s so it hit home but Covid was the first thing I thought of when the virus hit.
In a way yes, but it’s been oddly common for a global virus to occur every one hundred years or so
It’s so scary as to how single one misstep in natural Human Judgment can lead to a new type of evolution that would to the rise of NEW kingdom is this beautiful rebooted and revitalized franchise!

My favorite scene from the trilogy has to be the San Francisco bridge fight scene. That scene alone got me hooked on these movies!
A very good explanation. I've seen all Planet of the Apes movies (current and the ones made in 1960's and 1970's) and this video definitely was a great refresher.
I do wish that you would have at least mentioned, even briefly, how the original Planet of the Apes (1968) with Charlton Heston, ties in. That movie, of course, would take place sometime after "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" since that takes place about a thousand years in the future. Not sure if the current Planet of the Apes series will take the movies that far.

It looks like Cesar was the Moses for the apes. Both liberated their people, and both died when was close to their final home, Moses was promised by God that he could see the promised land but would wouldn't be allowed to go in, I don't know if Cesar died inside/outside the area that was their new home.

In a way they kind of are. Yea they aren’t directly linked since it’s technically in its own universe. But the second two films are partially remakes of the later OG sequels especially with “War…”

It’s fascinating to think that such a b-grade horror movie concept of genetically mutated animals is explored in such deep and complicated ways that comments upon socio-political topics. Oh man great storytelling
read war with the newts, the dystopian society of animals overtaking humans idea started with that book back in 1936.
This trilogy is monumental.
I am such a huge fan of the entire Planet Of The Apes franchise especially with Kingdom Of The Apes coming out in an couple days, my love to the franchise is just come back that I'm rewatching the marathon again from the '68 OG series, television show, Tim Burton's film and the epic rebooted trilogy.
So I take it this Noah is related or connected to Cornelius, the younger son of Cesar, his ancestor. Yes or no?

Amazing video, I'm glad that the reboot is better than the original (having hidden racism within it). I honestly can't forgive Koba for starting the war in the first place! I personally think that it's sad that the Army's main general perspective is that the all Apes are violent.
But I know that a War was going to eventually break out... It depends on all perspectives of who really started it.
The cut scenes didn’t make sense. Like when the ape dropped the gunpowder. And two of the apes walked off. Then the human man showed up and the apes were back like they never left. Or when the girl went to say goodbye with the gun held behind her back and then she grabbed the necklace with both hands

How about a top 10 planet of the apes franchise moments?
I would say the trilogy was 8.5 for me and the new movie was a 7 but just a little bit more action or epic fights would make it better. Still a solid movie and I am excited for the next part

@@MajorasThirdEye I’d still give begins and rises solid 8.5/10. Begins is amazing and the first half of rises is great, though there is a very noticeable decrease in quality in the second half.

Well we know alz-113 was airborne, and all the apes in the sanctuary was exposed to it. Its not hard to believe that those apes could've passes the virus on to them the same way the humans passes it to one another.

Wait didn’t cesar spray the rest of the apes with the serum giving the rest of his group intelligence? You never mentioned this fact about the film
So cobo was smarter then Caeser since it was a stronger medicine?
That part isn't really clear. For one, the way that Ceasar and Koba get smart is different, Ceasar gets his through genetics.
Meanwhile Koba is smart thanks to the virus.
It seems almost implied that Ceasar's intelligence was far greater than expected, so likely smarter than the monkeys created with the original strain. Being able to achieve a perfect score on the donut test. Where his mother achieved a score of 20, Ceasar was able to achieve a score of 15.
Koba similarly was able to do it in 15 steps with the stronger strain.
I think this is meant to imply that both monkeys are just as smart. But people will argue one way or the other.

the original planet of the apes movies - despite of the gaping technical disadvantage in production - still give me a 100 times more goosebumps than any modern CGI.
This reboot/prequal is honestly a lot better from the movies back in the 60’s and 70’s. Mostly because I wasn’t born then. But I have seen what the apes looked like back then. And good lord, they were gross and ugly.
They were kind of attractive.
The only thing i didnt like is tbe main dude started the virus. Wish it was his boss that kept doing it after he said not to and it was dangerous.
He wanted to cure his Dad, while the Boss only valued money.

If you feel the need to explain the prequel, then you never understood the original. Stop trying to justify reboots, they are just shoddy attempts to make more money , after all imagination has all but left Hollywood. The original film had all the information that was needed to explain the ape - human relationship. My advice go back to the drawing board and try to come up with something NEW.
