They've observed chimpanzees hunting boars with Spears now. They're advancing in their ability to use tools. They've also been shown stacking rocks like monuments to mark their territory
I'm pretty sure spearmaking was first seen in females only in the last twenty years or so. Pretty wild if males picked it up and they are going after pigs now.
I really wish they would have made another character a bonobo. The contrast would have been great. Also, I didn't know about silverbacks taking care of of juvenile males who lost their mothers. I love that so much. I'm not sure even bonobos do that very often, as your rank amongst bonobos is determined by your mother. If you lose your mother, you lose all rank.
The fact that bonobos are generally passive goes to show just how badly those scientists treated Koba prior top the movie for it to make him as aggressive as he was.
This is so cool! I love the insight of this lady. I have tended to call the bonobos the "peace child " of the great apes, and it bothered me a lot that Kobo was so violent. Violence is so much more a chimpanzee trait
A bit of common misinformation, bonobos may not be known to kill one another as readily, but bonobos have certainly been observed harming each other grievously. Older bonobos or males in conflict are more prone to violence. No reason to think an abused bonobo couldn't go on to be a tactical warrior and politician.
Bonobo violence isn’t impossible, but it’s incredibly uncommon especially compared to the more aggressive and territorial chimpanzee. Unlike chimpanzees there has not been a recorded case in captivity or the wild of a bonobo killing another bonobo (yet).
@@thenablade858 in captivity no but actually in the wild which is obviously more important to knowing how the species actually behaves without human intervention their has been actually quite a bit recorded fights and especially killings of each other. The whole notion that theyre pacifist is a bit true but obviously as science studies more and more of anything it self corrects and it got that wrong amd shows theyre definitely more violent than we thought not as violent as chimpanzees because chimps had to be more violent because of food shortages amd competition in there ecosystem. Bonobos live in a more isolated area . Less competition but they do engage in horrific behavior like all primates
In an interview Charleton Heston said the costumes in the original series took too long to remove so the actors kept them on all day long. After some time the actors stopped sitting with their friends for lunch and started sitting together based on the type of apes they were. It just began to happen unplanned -- makes you think.
“I think they picked the Gorillas to he guards by the sheer size alone..” goes on to describe guardianship characteristics of Gorillas that perfectly fit why they were the guards in the movie. This is amazing lol
Every Ape species pros and cons compared to each other 1. Chimpanzee/Bonobo Pros - Good Strength - Fast Speed 25mph/40kmh - Excellent Climbers - Excellent Hunters Cons - Weakest of Ape species - Smallest of Ape species 2. Gorillas Pros - Strongest of the Ape species - Excellent Fighters - Fast Speed 25mph/40kmh - Largest Ape species Cons - Cannot climb higher due to weight 3. Orangutan Pros - Most Intelligent and Wise - Great Strength - Excellent Climbers Cons - Cannot hunt due to colour - Slowest of Ape species
Weird, when I went to an orangutan conservation center in Borneo, the orangutans actually travel and lived as a group. There were mother's with babies and young orangutans and a strong male. We were all told to keep our distance of course because they are actually very dangerous. The rangers showed us pictures of some other poor ranger's foot that got bitten by an orangutan until it was mangled and just hanging by a lump of flesh. They also can punch really hard. An aircond fan was recently punched by one of the males and there was a huge dent like it was rammed by a car. Also, Borneo is the entire island not just the bottom part as shown in the video

I love this lady’s way of teaching. I learned so much without getting bored, i was not expecting all of that
This video has some really good and funny editing, also really informative
Idk if she forgot the fact that these are genetically enhanced apes but I'm glad she makes the good comparison to natural real apes.
Right it's not bashing fiction merely separating what the filmmakers did to give it that cinematic flare to reality

The fact that humans are also considered Apes adds more meaning to "Apes Together Strong!"
Now I know how passive bonobos are, it only breaks my heart more knowing why Koba acts the way he does.
So for this Universe, here are the roles:
Chimpanzees: Skilled Workers, Food, Gathering, Scouting, Workforce
Bonobos: Governing, Settling Disputes
Gorillas: Warriors, Law Enforcement
Orangutans: Teachers, Record Keepers, Skilled Workers and Tradesmen
What about humans?
Ironic that the villain Koba of the series is a bonobo, which are the most peaceful of great apes.
When she spoke about silverback gorillas taking on babies i started sobbing. I love great apes so much

When King Kong was set in Vietnam. I think he should have been re-cast as an Orangutan type ape, not a gorilla. The largest great ape ever is the Gigantopithecus, found in southern China and possibly in in Vietnam through to Thailand and Indonesia. Gigantopithecus was closely related to the Orangutan
You're right. Koba isn't acting like a bonobo. He's acting like a human.
Orangutans in my opinion the closest to human nature if you just look at the way that her mother orangutan looks at her childIn the way that she will raise it for nearly 10 years before having another one is just so amazing I love watching videos of them they are So majestic
Its funny that Rocket, being the more hostile and antagonistic character is a bonobo, a usually more docile ans friendlier great ape.
No Koba is a bonobo, rocket is chimp. It's possible that rocket maybe similar to a hairless chimp.
But I get what u mean.
Rocket should've listened to the RUclips sponsor.

Lake is a Bonobo. There are alot of different characters. But the movie is portrayed really well under each ape's circumstances
This is so cool! I love the insight of this lady. I have tended to call the bonobos the "peace child " of the great apes, and it bothered me a lot that Kobo was so violent. Violence is so much more a chimpanzee trait
5:39 wait does that include when two males get aggressive? 😳
Uhh, yea maybe...
A bit of common misinformation, bonobos may not be known to kill one another as readily, but bonobos have certainly been observed harming each other grievously. Older bonobos or males in conflict are more prone to violence. No reason to think an abused bonobo couldn't go on to be a tactical warrior and politician.
🤡
@@talkingthetalk3640its true
Bonobos are so ugly they're cute. I love them. As far as the aggression thing goes, any animal will turn savage if it is sufficiently pissed off.

In an interview Charleton Heston said the costumes in the original series took too long to remove so the actors kept them on all day long. After some time the actors stopped sitting with their friends for lunch and started sitting together based on the type of apes they were. It just began to happen unplanned -- makes you think.
One of the best trilogies to come out in recent years!
“I think they picked the Gorillas to he guards by the sheer size alone..” goes on to describe guardianship characteristics of Gorillas that perfectly fit why they were the guards in the movie.

Well this was very informative. Hope there's other things equally as interesting on this channel.
