    I think the pin should be replaced with a longer one to complete it . Otherwise you have the lower part unhinged.

    • @santoshkumak
      @santoshkumak Год назад

      That is what i was thinking. Over period the pin slowly comes of as we use. with something like this, it might come off and we may not notice as it might be hidden.

      It's also less complicated. 😌
      I've seen people doing it also by using a water bottle, scissors, ball of yarn, ext. But this method is more simple.

    My grandparents had these on their house, probably still from the 1950's or so. The exception was the old wooden screen door out back, where they they were incorporated into the springs. They worked well. I think my grandfather had installed longer hinge pins though.

    • @raol635

      Grandpa is smart to change the pin for longer one. Cuz as it is now is dangerous.

    To avoid the risk to kids as well as to ensure perfect working of soundless closing if door, use a hydraulic door closer instead. These make shift short cuts or cheap alternatives are not worth to depend upon.

    I bought this spring for my garage 2 the laundry door & I had 2 put it on all 3 hinges because this door for my garage 2 the laundry door is very heavy & haven’t had flies since!! Whenever I go grocery shopping and have my hands full therefore I just can’t shut the door fast enough & the fly sneaks right in! Ever since I got this spring & installed on all 3 of my hinges I haven’t had flies since!! Love this spring!! I highly recommend it to anyone for any of their doors in their house! Esp. if ur house is a fly fest.

    To me the spring hole looked too large. It can easily fly off and hit something. I rather have a version that you have to take the pin all of the way out and reinsert it. Maybe use a washer at the top.

  • @rathandtrathan2836
    @rathandtrathan2836 2 года назад +29

    1: hinge will damge, it will impact on door function.
    2: door will close suddenly it will make a loud noise.
    3: due to sudden load may injury to fingers especially kids if they playing near the door.
    4:Torsion spring load will reduce shortly bcz it will expand to its max.
    5:if in case spring will slip out it will injury to human or kids.
    Consider all these points while doing a concept.

    • @TheGuitarman1968

      I also agree that this is a "Mickey Mouse" fix. Good in concept, but not in reality. The hinge shaft is going to eventually deform and bend without the rod all the way through it. Longer hinge pins are easy to buy or make. There are also spring loaded hinges that are easy to install. The spring loaded hinges are usually installed on the door between an attached garage and house. They are even code in some places for safety reasons. Honestly, there are much better and safer ways to make a door close automatically.

    Ideal for those who can't afford a proper door closer....😊😊😊 I don't think moving out just one knot of rod will compromise with the durability of the hinge...the spring used here is the same type used for mouse traps....!!!

      I agree. The negative comments aren't productive. Yes, a washer on top of the spring. Yes, a longer hinge pin, but, seriously - it's a very inexpensive, non-destructive solution to a real problem.

    after 3 months, if the spring rezist or not be snaped itself , the wood panel of the door will have a great groove in it. Use a hydraulic door closer or go to a car skrap yard and look for a pneumatic piston which is used for pushing up the hood or hayon back door of the car.

    •  Год назад
