Imagine what could have been done with half the cost, half the equipment proper maintenance and lower utility costs
I can imagine
You know hacks did that standard of installation to leave the old broken one in place and just tap on the new unit. Make the trades great again Mikey Pipes. Smash that Like button folks.
I'm guessing there was two smaller output units originally, both were going out and they put a single larger on the one side and left the other.
hard to say about the rest of the mess and circulator pumps laying around, it's possible they wasn't working right, power surge blown, failed temperature sensors, who knows.
or possibly had an indirect tank where the electric is now and when boiler/indirect failed, they did a new boiler and electric tank where the indirect piping was?
I could see keeping an electric tank, for when the other junk breaks down. 🤣 I thought about adding an electric here, but the standard gas water heaters seem to hold up well enough.
some places have geo-thermal/AC water heater recovery tied to electric tanks, some even have gas tanks as well. ( yeah triple water heaters) lol
Yes sand paper is good for me with no call backs
It doesn’t matter what you use Emery cloth is the best like you said, but a wire brush also works
Five circulators that’s pretty weird
The fact they didn't slap a sticker on the equipment tells you they don't want anyone knowing who screwed the homeowner!
Looks like someone was handy enough to put in all that equipment. Now that person is in poor health, retired, or expired. That would explain all the extra new pumps. Maybe they are in Florida like Mikey and don't want to come back to fix the H2o.
Or they didn’t know what they were doing and quit
pumps probably took a dump, power surge, failed thermistors, set wrong, etc.
Big black light...🤣 ohhhhhh
that's basically a "higher efficiency" boiler and an indirect tank, combined into one. there's of course more efficiency than a regular gas water heater due to not having the big hole up the middle(flue) lol. no I wouldn't install one, regular gas water heater for me thanks! unless there's already hydronic heat, then "maybe" an indirect(all eggs in one basket then)
Ditto
You are good
That boiler room is a clusterfuck
Totally
You’re right Emery cloth is the best for cleaning flame sensors
Yes they are!
You can flush that unit
Yeah, with a garden hose at the bottom drain
@@PipeDoctor Yes and the tankless can be flushed there’s service valves under the grey cover where the gas connection is just like any other tankless . I just did a maintenance on a duo unit.
Ridiculous Amount of Equipment and Brand New Parts sitting in a Box on the Floor. 🤪👎
What is stupid hot water heater you make a tankless or Tank don’t try to combine both. That’s dumb.
well, back when they made them it was a better choice for higher output and less standby losses(no flue up the middle) and they're like 90K btu input, so roughly double the recovery rate/first hour output.
it's more or less a boiler and indirect tank combined, which fits in a much smaller space. that said, yes they have no place in residential or light commercial.
