I'm late middle aged and live in the sticks and a comparison site quoted £600 for a recent RR valued at £75k. Sounds reasonable until you realize a brand new Porsche 911 Carrera S was only £50 more. I expect younger people living in cities will still be having real problems with insurance.
Had a 16 plate Range Rover for just over year What a pain in the arss every time I drove it a different light come on and it was one owner 67000miles fsh When I sold it I was happy watching it drive down the road Good luck mate but I bet it will let you down 😂
Had a similar experience with a 5 series 3l diesel BMW, light on every time, gearbox went, got a recond rdeplacement, then rear shockers went, turned out to be an ex cop car with reinforced boot for munitions etc, sold at auction for £800, glad to see the back of the sod.
Just a thought but do you factor in a cambelt replacement when deciding how much to ask for your Range Rovers ? As most of the cars of that age 15 16 17 plates tend to show up for sale without a history of having the cambelt service done which can cost a considerable amount.
I think car dealers always try to avoid the issue when ever I’ve asked for the service/ cambelt service history on a 7 year old plus vehicle or they mutter under their breath “ errr no sir the cambelt hasn’t been done “ 😉 good see that you take care of such things 👍

What's going on with the sunroof glass?..looks like a tint film that's losing its adhesive. Nothing goes down the road quite like a RR/RRS..unless you've driven a CGT/S-class or A8. I've had a L322 and L405 but weirdly the L494 never appealed.

Major service with correct oil and cambelt which think due in just under a year which will future proof it, think official Landrover parts have a year’s warranty now. Used to be two.
What could go wrong? its a JLR product, so anything. Have you ever bought a Cayenne? they are a bit pricy, diesels are generally reliable. If you think the RR is quick, the V8D is a missile.
Fantastic looking motor and price you paid for it was amazing. Only issues are the high running costs and reliabilty bit certainly worth the risk on those researched facts and figures.
Been an ex JLR instructor I thought the same, though the interiors are usually more rough, I had one once come back with a complete hole torn through the rear lower quarter panel, quite an achievement considering the courses are designed not to really stress the cars.
@@stermindelves4251 During my time all the experience cars were white and usually OE or OV reg, if you have access to a UV light aka black light shine it on the front doors and the bonnet and see if you can see the faint outline of the Land Rover oval sticker and the word 'experience' underneath it in capitals. If it's any other colour don't worry, loads of JLR staff are in their products, my wife is. But if it's an early flat grey Tesla model S worry about it, because that was stripped, analysed, weighed and rebuilt by the apprentices before being sold... 🤫
Dealers would tell you it’s a LR Company car making you think it’s had a pampered life going up and down the M40, not up to its door handles in mud being used as bumper cars in the forest😂
Its just as well they are a lovely looking suv when they breakdown and it will often you can look at it think how many thousands is it going to cost this time 😂
I don't agree there mate, had a 2016 Sport with the same 3.0 Diesel engine and it is hard as nails, as long as you look after these machines they'll look after you.
Neighbour got a 24 plate one of these in same colour. Only uses it to go and pick up a shop at the local M & S . I couldn't see myself buying one of these due to the insurance costs and reliability. I'll stick with my Lexus.
@@ShiftingMetal I'm not convinced that figure is accurate. I visit Highgate N. London on a regular basis and the same RR cars are parked in peoples drives or in the street for years on end. It's quite easy to remember something like a long wheel base model in black with black wheels! Older Toyota Land Cruisers are the ones that have been stolen the most in percentage terms. Virtually all of them ended up in Africa!
Still see a fair share of Range Rovers all over London tbh, especially in north west/plush parts of south & even East. Then again there's no shortage of people sat on small fortunes of real estate, people are creatures of habit. Dare I say they became so popular that the sheer cost of running 1 has finally made it into a 'social status item' again. Know a few people up north however who have got rid, but imo those are people who really should've financially never had one. I feel like Land Rover might double down & increase price/quality difference between oferrings. There's elastic & inelastic demand with better margins. This will only worsen as black market demand will only increase as more countries become developed with crazy rich/middle classes.
I work in Saudi and Arabs have a saying "You could drive into the desert in a Range Rover, but you will come out of the desert in a Toyota" . Prado/Land Cruisers are reliable, and the venerable pickups are everywhere here.

These cars have proven to be firelighters. What would happen if one you sold via finance caught fire and burnt down the home (say integral garage in house) of a customer. Proving it had the fault of being an RR sport diesel would be easy when you sold it so you could be on the hook for the lot. Just thinking.
Chops includes insurance warranties on his cheap cars then seems to submit lots of claims. How does that work? Don’t Warranty cos monitor claims from policies sold by particular traders and adjust their client’s premiums or limit what the trader can sell their policies on?

Ive got a 15 plate rr sport love it 40 mpg at 75 mph on the motorway whats not to love. Insurance is £500 per year. All the haters have never owned one. A lot of car for the money.

My daughters just bought a 10 yr old evoque dynamique lux what a beautiful car. I hope it stays ok but I expect it wont. Such a shame they cant get QC right as they are truly beautiful luxury cars. Having been in an SQ5 and the evoque is so much nicer inside.

Your lowering on park is just a setting on the auto buttons on the centre column , plus you'll also have towbar lowering on your dash !!
I bought a 2016 cayenne two months ago the RR sport looks a lot nicer but the unreliabilty and cost every time it goes wrong stopped me buying one

JLR Taunton just fitted parts to my ‘13 plated Evoque and said 2 years warranty (fitted May 2024)

Having owned one for years I can assure you that there isn't a cheap RRover in the country.
How many have you owned though and at what mileage?
Quite possible that a white RR product on an OE plate is an ex experience centre car.

i have a feeling that motor will have the ford lion engine in it, hope not as the crank and bearings are only good for 50 to 70 thousand miles.
Many do in excess of 250k without issue, its a combination of some cranks are poorly made and 15k oil change intervals are to long.
