I installed it just like you did but as a result rope cut the plastic body of the main unit. correct installation is main unit should be installed on top side of the door arch with 5/10 degree rotation so when the door will be fully opened the rope will not hardly press the body.

Very first to note, make sure it's wire not touching your door / wall corner otherwise it's make cut in it. Sticker should be stick in door only. The other unit should be fitted in wall but first you should fit it 90 degree angle rod and direction of it's mouth should face the sticker
