I will not work long. I repaired few motors that way and working only few minutes. That's because brushes are springy and wires aren't. Only possible repair is repair it from second broken DC motor by replacing one of brush. If you can by springy/flexible wire than repair will be possible, also you should notice that the surface in contact with motor is lower.

This is brilliant!
One of my brushes broke, but instead of replacing both and lessening the amount of work I would need to do by replacing both (because of how the brushes are mounted and wiring connections outside of the motor), I simply soldered an piece of pre-tinned 20g wire onto the broken brush base to extend to the commutator. Works perfectly! Thank you!

I've got one that looks just like this in a train that has a possibly controller on top of it
It seems to only start turning when you spin it
Does that seem like motor still or maybe this controller and can I get away with just getting a motor without this board on

Yes it is. I had the same problem with my Babyliss clipper. Till it didn't start anymore. I opened up and realise that the brushes ware shortened (burned) cuz they are very thin and fragile.. so i alongated them a bit. And it is working like new

Hi, i would suggest you to turn the shaft manually by hand for some time, later power the motor by pressing button, this might help you to get rid of the issue. Let me know the results

1)Rotor part might have got rust
2)shaft part might be struck
3)winding connections might be broken

Hey, I don't know if anyone will see this but, I just got an electric file for nails but the motor seems to be busted.
The motor says its a D0143 18V 20191209. Is there anyway I can go into this and fix it? When I turn on the drill, I can feel it slightly but virtually no actual rotation. Please someone help me.

The coils must have burn out.. Replace it with same kind of motor it will easen your work!

@@jeevanjee I gave it a look and opened it up. and it seems that the motor inside is a little bit wobbly and the piece were it connects at the bottom, two pieces that open up to put the rod in, wasn't in place. It turns on now but sounds a little bit rumbly. Do you know where and how much it would cost to get a replacement?
