CX90 is ok but the Acura MDX got it beat in looks alone. The blacked out Aspec trim looks sick. In a daily commute situation the power difference just doesn’t matter. Aside from that the 10 speed trans reallly gets the most out of that engine. Tuned really well, much better than CX90. Not saying CX90 is a bad suv by any means but the Acura MDX is considered a premium suv for a reason and it’s not just “perceived” but Honda puts significant investment into its systems and technology. Believe me, it’s worth every penny over the CX90 IMHO.

Acura MDX is the #1 3 row luxury SUV for a reason. Yes the Mazda looks beautiful, but it’s still not a luxury brand and that suede looks great BUT how do you clean it? It will show its age and dirt and smudges which will be a nightmare to clean. No thank you… I don’t like the bubble butt the Mazda has…it looks weird. The MDX looks more attractive and substantial. I looked at the CX 90 and realized the price difference, but once I stepped in the Acura…it felt right at home and after owning the A Spec I can see why it out sells all the others. Team Acura …..

Mazda products are not know for reliability, i cant even name a product they hve that say’s reliability, where Acura does. The MDX is bulky, i know i own one. However, the torque vectoring makes the car feel smaller and much more nimble on curvy roads. MdX is like a family traveling road show, cant say the same for Mazda. Nice review! People often compare the CX-90 to the Pilot, Telluride, and Palisade, because the CX-90 slots in between those cars and the luxury/premium offerings like the MDX and X3. I believe that Mazda's true intention is to compete ONLY with the luxury/premium offerings and undercut them with a similar powertrain setup, and in some cases, an even better powertrain and interior setup. Luxury is never about value, it's always about the emotional factor. What Mazda is doing here is putting some value proposition back into a premium product and taking out all of the unnecessary bells and whistles. If I were in the market for an MDX type S or an X3 M40i, I'd be thinking to myself: "Do I really need all that power I'm never gonna use on the street? Alright, let me just get the CX-90 for thousands of dollars less for the same amount of niceties and power I would utilize on a daily basis."

    • @Sleepygarage

Yeah I absolutely agree, this thing already knocks out all its ‘technical’ competitors. But for sure it’s the luxury automakers that should be worried, 7 seater SUVs 20-40k above its grade don’t even offer anything more than a nameplate at this point because this thing is actually just as quick as anything the same size with BMWs B58s. As nice as a Type S MDX is, I would look at it the same way and be like ‘do I need that extra 20hp for my commute?’ Lol

The J35 sounds better than the CX90’s inline 6, I don’t know can you think otherwise. I am a music producer and will tell you that the system in the Acura is on the level of a Bangs and Olfeson system. I drove both SUV…and the system in the Mazda does not even come close to the Acura. That is a huge deal for many buyers…they don’t like mediocre Audio systems. You also did not talk about the MDX being the 1# selling luxury SUV. I understand you cannot cover everything in a limited video but those are very important things to convey to your viewers….this is why I say your review was biased and looses credibility to me. You intentionally uplifted the Mazda and downplayed the Acura. Very questionable…..Also, why does your Acura have quad exhaust? Only the Type S has 4 pipes? Mazda's true advantage here is price and power. Personally, the styling of the MDX to me is better on the exterior. Comparing the interiors, it's tough but Mazdas have always made me feel claustrophobic and this one does not appear that it's going to change that. It looks really good, but that's only part of the equation.
I like the MDX interior as it's not trying to copy Audi or Mercedes or BMW or, in the case of the Mazda, Volvo. And it's not a bland and trite layout like Lexus. So I choose the MDX interior too. Where it would be difficult to choose is against the inline 6 of the Mazda. While reviews are very positive, reviews for the Mazda6 powertrain were always very positive, but when I actually drove one, it was very disappointing. The Honda Accord's former 2.0T was easily superior to the Mazda6's, and the Mazda's brakes were downright scary.
In all, I'd choose the MDX. And I'd spend the extra money on the Type-S. It looks better. Has more interior space. And the Type-S driving dynamics would just be icing on the cake.

So I had the mdx 2 years, I can give a better review than this guy even. My brother has a 2023MDX, I have a 2024CX90 I6 280HP, I personally think the Cx90 has a sportier chassis and tuning, and looks better. But the MDX is definitely a more comfortable car, the interior is more luxurious, and the V6 engine 10AT is very quiet and smooth. The shortcomings of the Cx90 are obvious, its power transmission is not smooth enough, the low-speed frustration is obvious, and the I6 engine is noisy and feels cheap. The cx90 is worth 45k. But if I have to spend 55k, I will choose the MDX.

Make it more user friendly with a clean, uncluttered design with good storage areas. Just look at the Grand Highlander's dash and console. Big large touchscreen, plenty of storage, even a useful passenger shelf in the dash with a USB to charge your phone. Simple, clean, functional. I went with the 2023 MDX SHAWD , just as the 2024s hit the market, mainly because of the reliability history and the simplicity of construction. The Mazda if it has any engine issues will be difficult to work with. Even under warranty you’ll have longer wait times for repairs. Otherwise I would choose the CX-90 because of that inline 6 and the power vs price value. Mazda made a new, completely new truck and now I’ll wait to see where they cut corners and what kinks they have to work out. Buyer beware, just because it drives faster doesn’t mean it’s better. If I got one it would be lease for the length of the warranty. It’s why I like the Genesis GV-80 2024 over all of them but I have a G80 sedan and when it’s due I’ll buy it or lease the gv80. So in effect I’ll have 2 suvs. But they are very different.

I don’t care much of gas the important for me is the comfort and power can deliver at it sometimes power is subjective and depends who isnnehund the driver seat and how skill you are in driving, I got sports car and it has good handling and performance and was surprise for the size oplike this can deliver.
