When comparing the Acura MDX A-Spec and Tech trim levels, it's essential to understand their focus and offerings to determine which better aligns with your preferences and needs.
If you prioritize a sportier appearance and handling characteristics, the A-Spec might be more appealing. However, if you prioritize technology, comfort, and convenience, the Tech trim might be the better choice.

They all should have fog lights in a premium brand.

The ASpec doesn’t come standard with remote start. It is a dealer option (at least in the U.S.) You need to go up to the advance trim to get that. However you do get remote start through Acura link, bit it is subscription based. Once the complimentary subscription expires (I believe 36 months) there is a fee.
The illuminated door sills are also an add on and not standard.

@@VagabondBuilds no problem, I only know through recent personal experience. The prior generation came standard with the remote start in the key fob as part of the tech package.

The Aspec doesn’t come with the lower trim as part of the package, that’s an extra that you must purchase. It comes in a silver color and you need to painted in order to match the color of the car or painted black. The running boards is also an additional accessory as well. The information being provided as to the exterior features of the aspec and the tech is not accurate. The Aspec may have some additional technology but it is mostly blacking out the chrome.

The next Acura is going to be highly anticipated since most experts believe they’ll finally drop that silly track pad.

2024 and Acura just doesn't believe in a touchscreen infotainment system. That is ridiculous for the price

    • @VagabondBuilds

Yea I understand where you’re coming from. I have a touchscreen and pad in my Lexus and I literally use my pad more that actually touching the screen. So I’m in the middle on that.

The ONLY reason for Acura to do a touchscreen is for business purposes. They are alienating a lot of customers by not making it a dual feature. Personally, I have ZERO issues with the touchpad. I find it functionally perfect for while driving and it is ergonomically ideally located so that it makes it natural to do changes on screen while driving. I have a second vehicle with a touchscreen and frankly I find it more distracting trying to use the touchscreen while driving. There is just a coolness about not having to lean forward to touch a screen...you can lean back and just work that screen with a sway of your finger. But yeah Acura is missing out big time by not having it dual function.

today i test drove the 2025 mdx base And the upcoming ZDX A-spec. I have a 2018 tech. this was my first time driving a hybrid vehicle. i like it. IMO i like the mdx dash layout better the ZDX feels like its lacking something for a hybrid A-Spec, but its still nice. my 2018 runs great no major issues looks like ill be holding onto it for a while.

The following things you listed are only accessories and not standard (a bit mis leading)
(I know all Hondas very well)
    Light up door trim,
    Trunk trim
    Heated steering wheel
    Roof racks
Black wheels (stock are more gray- similar)
You mentioned add ons in the beginning but missed a few.
Also the a spec has a slightly more quiet drive- likely due to having more speakers to cancel out noise. 3D ELS vs regular ELS. I've driven both on long road trips and the a spec is slightly more quiet. The tail lights also have a bit more of a dark appearance to go with the over all theme that is a spec. (Sporty, dark, piano black etc)

My 22 MDX aspec has remote start along with the acuralink app, heated and ventilated front and rear seats. Foot activated open and close tailgate as well as a walkway button tailgate feature. Only issue for me is not having 360 camera and I wished I had more ambient lighting throughout the cabin. I'm in Canada so maybe different in the US.

very confusing trying to understand which is which when you got to the interior portion, you kept saying a-spec a-spec a-spec while inside the tech model. hard to different which is which without rewinding several times... could just be me as I'm completely new to Acura trims and packages. would have been easier to follow if you just stuck to the trim you were currently in and pointing to buttons and controls?

Had a 2020 tech and now a 2023 ASpec. Yes, apples vs oranges since they are from different generations, but I do like the additional features such as the cooled seats, upgraded ELS and the suede seat inserts that come with the ASpec. Plus, I definitely prefer the look.

@@VagabondBuilds it is, I just wish you didn’t have to go up entire trim levels in order to get one off options. For example, the only trim (other than the type S) that offers a 360 degree camera and a heated wheel is the advance trim. I know the wheel is available as a dealer installed option, but it baffles me how a 60k car doesn’t come with or is even available with the surround view camera.

We almost traded our 22 Tech for a 24 A-Spec. However, we wound up going with the Advance model (discounted down to $59k) which adds: heads up display, power seat bolsters/thigh extenders, heated rear seats, 16 speaker ELS Studio 3D, surround view camera, hands free tailgate and remote engine start (just to name a few).
